How dangerous is Conventry? What would you say if you were asked the question, Is Coventry, UK really dangerous? The answer would depend on who you are, what your biases are, and what you desire to see in a city. As a Coventrian, you are most likely to completely disagree with all that is being said about your city ranking as the second-most dangerous. Residents of other cities in Europe who are more favorably disposed to Coventry may stand that the city though dangerous is not as bad as reported. But let’s face it, in the first place, Is Coventry really dangerous? As usual, we will guide you into taking your own objective position after thoroughly considering our independent and unbiased answer to the question.
Excuse me, please let us introduce the city of Coventry to you.
About Coventry
Coventry is a city in the West Midlands region of England. This city which has been a large settlement for centuries is located on the River Sherbourne. It was founded and given city status in the Middle Ages and put administratively under the Coventry City Council. It was historically part of Warwickshire. Based on the 2021 census, Coventry had a population of 345,300. This makes it the 10th-largest city in England and the 12th in the United Kingdom. Coventry is also one of the largest cities in the West Midlands region, second only to Birmingham.
The city we’re showing in this video is 27 kilometers east-south-east of Birmingham, 35 kilometers southwest of Leicester, 14 kilometers north of Warwick, and 138 kilometers northwest of London. Coventry is actually the most central city in England; it’s only 19 kilometers southwest of the country’s geographical center in Leicestershire.
Is Coventry Dangerous at All?
In the first place, let us establish a fact. Before we go delve into comparatives, is this city dangerous at all? The admittance of the existence of a problem is the first step toward its resolution. A sarcastic comment is usually made when crimes such as robbery, and stabbing or a new burger joint or potholes are reported in Coventry. You’ll hear folks saying “Welcome to the City of Culture” as if all that is the real culture of the city.
But in truth, how many cities in the world can boast a zero crime rate? There are criminals everywhere and crime is part and parcel of our modern society. So wherever you find people, crime happens. We can’t, therefore, expect Coventry to be an exception. On the basis of that, we can say, yes, Coventry is dangerous with its own fair rate of crime.
We’re interested in the confessions of the residents of this city in question. An opinion leader in the city admits: “Yes, we have potholes. Yes, we have roughly one burger joint per square kilometer. Yes, we occasionally get voted among the most dangerous cities in Europe. But let's be honest, is it really as bad as any other busy metropolis?” We have the answer, though. However, that statement alone is an admittance of the fact that the city is far from desirable.
Ruing the frank comments of fellow Coventrians, he said: “For some reasons . . . some of Coventrians have this awful habit of badmouthing our city, kicking it when it's down . . .” He added that the majority of Coventrians reading those stories ranking their city badly don’t contradict that rundown. This implies that they’re silently corroborating those negativities.
Now that we’ve provided a clear answer to the question, Is Coventry dangerous at all? Let’s consider how dangerous Coventry is.

As someone who lives in Coventry crime is probably higher than most areas in the UK but most the crime that takes place is either gang related or attacks on businesses, usually robberies. But on the whole it's not that much worse than other areas in the UK and am suprised it is that high compared to other European cities

Try looking up the actual figures. Coventry is pretty average for crime, which is not bad going for an urban area.

There’s about 20 seconds’ useful information in this video. Most of it is just repetition. With only 20 seconds of information, it is fair to say that much of this video is purely repetition. It’s fair to say that this video is highly repetitive, there’s only 20 seconds of information. Without the high level of repetition, this video would only have 20 seconds worth of content…

20 seconds of "information" from a source that gets zero investigation. The "statistics" used from Numbeo are nonsense as they are simply "fear of crime" questionaries filled in by website visitors. It's an insult to anyone to use them. See my other comments for more ...

Ignore the crime rate ranking - Most people in Cov have worked out calling the police is pointless unless you need a crime report number for your insurers.. You get mugged, robbed, burgled or your car broken into or vandalised - Police are as useful as a chocolate fireguard. Their only there to fine you if you break the speed limit or use harsh language online - complete joke and the criminal element know they can function with impunity too.

I tried to report a burglary back in 2007 and they accused me of lying, they said I just wanted a crime number so I could make an insurance claim. I didn't even have house insurance as I was fairly young and didn't think it that important.

Mmmm. I lived there in the 80s, 90s and early 2000s and it was rough as a bear's hole then too! I'm glad I got out but sad to hear it's got so much worse. There were some nice people around and positive things about living there during those times. That said, the nearest city to me now is a crime-ridden dump too and it's not in the UK. Maybe it's just our society in general that's degenerating and the reasons are clear to anyone with any bit of cop-on!

If there is a crime problem in Coventry, it is unique to some certain dosshole areas like Wood End, Henley Green and Willenhall and Stoke Aldermore. Most of Coventry is safe and welcoming. I’ve lived here all my life, never been mugged, and that last time I had to defend myself from attack was 33 years ago ….and that was actually in Stoke Aldermoor when I was 16. Coventry is no more dangerous than any other city in England or Europe. You can get trouble anywhere you go, especially if you go out looking for it.

There are some places that you wouldn't go after dark. But that could be said of most cities. Stabbings and crime are up all over the UK as a result of multiculturalism. The fact is that different cultures have difficulties coexisting peacefully.

YES Coventry is extremely DANGEROUS if your a young woman or child due to mass illegal people immigrants who are not doctors , but could be soldiers ‘ Coventry hotels are full & no longer available for bookings . Knife crime is crazy in Coventry & its really not a safe place in Coventry. Coventry has sold every bit of green belt land to build houses for are new visitors BUT no new schools or hospitals or doctors,please I would challenge anyone that thinks I’m exaggerating to go walk round Coventry city centre walk past KFC or McDonald’s Or walk down the foleshill road or go in any local shop see how friendly the shop keeper are 😩

Ironically, it's exactly the other way round. Coventry is becoming safer and safer with each day, and today it's still English dominated areas such as Willenhall and Wood End which are by far the most dangerous in the city. Look at Far Gosford and compare it to what it was like 10 years ago. Is it a coincidence that it's becoming much more safe and welcoming since foreigners moved in the area?

This video is ridiculous. Really, look it up, because statistics from the UK Government, Office of National Statistics, Police crime reports etc etc. show that Coventry is pretty average for crime in the UK. I can't put links (KZfaq don't seem to allow that anymore), but it's easy to make the search to find the analysis, reports and statistics. For example, search on "crime rate in UK cities", and you'll find that Coventry is nowhere near the most "dangerous" (a hyperbolic use of language), or 2nd most "dangerous" city the UK. The claim for 2nd most "dangerous" city in Europe is utterly laughable. This video is simply bot-made garbage.
@andrewwigglesworth3030
@andrewwigglesworth3030 11 ай бұрын
And I've just looked up Numbeo ... and their "statistics" are simply surveys of fear of crime made by visitors to the website. It doesn't even make checks (I'm not sure how it could even do this) to see whether the person filling the form lives in the city. Using this "survey" and presenting it as "fact" is unethical in the extreme.

Just like almost any city one might intentionally visit, just keep your wits about you. I live in the states, but visit family there when i can and only have been stabbed 3 times (JOKING!). Really though, only issues I've personally witnessed was shop lifting (not me) and exetremely fowl langage from the youth. But, I did get cussed at once for not giving a beggar any change. And, yes, I agree the police are almost useless, but at no fault of their own. The restrictions they have pretty well eliminates any authority they should have. All in all, it's not too bad. I've seen loads worse.
