Doesn't Isaac have magnetic boots? I think I remember him having magnetic boots. That could easily add a ton of force to his stomps, as long as the thing being stomped has a metal surface under it.
@gsamalot
@gsamalot 11 ай бұрын
you are correct he uses magnetic boots that allow him to pretty much stick to any metal surface when they activate. They are made out of the same stuff used for gravity plates, pretty much Isaacs boots are made of the same stuff that use for simulate earth gravity on space stations and spaceships. So if I was a betting man Isaac pretty much turns on those boots when he stomps, giving the corps a good taste gravity crushing bone and flesh against a metal object.

This reminds me of the missed opportunity I've wanted to see in a zombie episode of mythbusters which is I wanted to know how different weapons and attack types that you normally see on zombie shows like The walking Dead would be effective against a zombie and doing it by making human heads made out of humanely deceased pigs and then having them in different states of decay to see if the rate of decomposition would increase or decrease a weapon or an attack types effectiveness. Other one is that could the type of zombie fights that you see in such films and TV shows is actually doable, although we probably have a lot more boring data on that based on human bites.

Other factors I've seen mentioned before to account for Isaac's ability to stomp necromorph corpses to pieces, which may be difficult to account for here, are that his boots have gravity locks on them which are intended to keep you from floating away off the hull of a ship, but could also be engaged to increase stomp force; as well as that the necromorphs are being held together in part by marker signal, and once the local marker deems to combat effectiveness of a necromorph negligible then it stops holding them together, giving them a resistance more in line with a decaying corpse than a living person. All the same, fun video.

I'd noticed after the first plate struck there were entirely too many high spots that should/could have been ground down with a flap disc so they could have gotten a slightly better reading; because as we all know, pressure is force over a surface area. It's fine, but like you'd mentioned it would've provided a much better metric. I think that the initial plate & boot are at most 20lbs. Edit: I did not mention that they had also noticed the surface being uneven, as they had mentioned "up to 40,000 psi in *some* parts of the apparatus"

The C.E.C. would never put such expensive equipment in an Engineering RIG. Hell, Isaac can only have about 2 minutes of oxygen in his suit before suffocating, and that's after messing with his suit. The equipment in Dead Space is cheaply made, Isaac even remarks at it in the remake when running out of ammo. For reference, Isaac has gravity boots, which aren't standard gear. They're slipped onto his boots in all his suit lvls, his zero-g back thrusters are also additional other engineers dont have them when you look at corpses. Isaac is a ships system specialist, he specifically repairs ships, so he's geared up for space walks and even then he still has the cheapest gear from C.E.C.

Yeah, where have you seen him having an enhanced body? There's been nothing implied that the humans in the Dead Space universe are any stronger or durable due to their medical treatments. The only thing I could reckon is that the people in his time are healthier at older ages than they are in our time, so Isaac might physically still be somewhere around his prime in terms of fitness despite being mid-40s. With how old the RIG system is according to DS3, I imagine they do have forms of strength enhancement with that much time of refinement, especially when applied to heavy duty mining and combat suits throughout the series. Edit: Dead Space's prosthetic tech seems capable of much, but all we've really seen has been more about 1 to 1 replacement rather than Deus Ex like augments.

Awesome work guys, I will say that I believe a factor you did not consider (not that Isaac needs any more advantages in your test) is that is boots are magnetized. In Zero G areas he is seen walking on any surface using the boots magnetic properties as well as to help him land during a zero g jump. I personally believe when he stomps he re-engages the boots magnets to give himself more stomp power. But hey, that’s just my head-canon anyway. Great work on the props by the way!

There's also the factor of the faurly small contact point between a fairly round head and the very flat very hard metal floor. If you were dropping the head with a perfectly fused contact so the force was evenly distributed you'd still be getting the small contact area between the skull and the floor.

Post Video Edit. You need to calculate the variable of Fear/Anger in the form of chemical supercharging with Adrenaline.

I mean, all nice and stuff, but why not put the boot on and stomp yourself? Stomping is not like dropping something, you lean into it putting your weight over it and strengthen your muscles to add to the velocity and force of it. The momentum itself can continue after most of the energy is spent and you push your foot through the uhm...object.

The suit makes the difference. If you stomped with a bare foot (ignoring pain and counter-impact), the curve of the stomper's sole can affect the pressure (force per unit area) imparted to the target. The pressure is no longer imparted parallel to gravity, so the angle away from vertical gives necessarily lower pressure. The boot sole is flat with treads. The treads with their reduced surface area cause pressure to go up (P = f/a, and a becomes smaller, making P greater.

Hey kyle, in the first book of three body problem series, there is a scene in which the military uses strings of a strong nanomaterial in the Panama Canal to slice a cargo ship. In the book, the weight and speed of the ship is enough for it to pass through the trap and be cut like butter. Would it really happen?

We do have to keep in mind that Necromorphs have greater muscle mass and bone density compared to normal humans, but considering the possible intricacies of Isaac's engineering exosuit and how they can alter the amount of physical damage he can dish out, I'd say this is very accurate video..and badass as fuck.

I'd say that smashing apart a necromorph would be slightly easier than a human since while they create the extra appendages and such, they still seem to rapidly rot the body and make it overall weaker in structure. Isaac could also be activating the magnetic thingy on his boots to give the stomp more oomph, and since he is wearing an industrial engineering suit meant for harsh environments I'd say the stomp wouldn't injure his feet like it would normal ones.
@Thegreat772

I always thought that like zombies the flesh and bone are easier to moosh up. Also the gravity boots had something to do with the extra smashing power by using magnetics or just being heavy and the power suit being heavy.
@MRSupernova100
@MRSupernova100 5 ай бұрын
I only have one remark about the boot - Isaac's boots are more angular, and have the sole raised higher than the outer edge of the boot - Making the boot essentially function a 'little' bit like an axe, due to the sharp edges. This would undoubtedly make the boots more effective at stomping through things. Then there's the whole aspect of the suit being an exoskeleton suit that assist in mining, heavy machinery engineering and other such things; As well as the setting having personal gravity-altering equipment, so Isaac might just flat out be a bit more dense than someone not wearing such a suit, and thus capable of applying even more force. Lord knows how the heck his bones survive it though. Either way, great video. Mad scientist Kyle = best scientist.

Paused and read what was visible from the abstract on the paper on stomping, that 9016 Newtons measurement was just the upper end of the mean peak male stomping force from the study's volunteers. Apparently jumping force was double the stomping force! My takeaway: Don't stomp or jump on people unless you want to really hurt/kill them.

Well, Isac had a techologic very heavy suit and he needed a machine to suit him up, so he probably weighted something like 250-300kg total with his suit on which explain the lack of jump and slow running, so it was more like a mech suit. Add that to his magnetic boots for increased final maximum acceleration and bam!
