There’s a really beautiful scene at the end where he goed to a pool and floats on his back. Someone asks “what are you doing?” “Understanding”

Asking questions is ok. Don't judge and just learn about the other person's situation

He learned to be an ally, by asking questions of the one person who might be able to answer them. And he genuinely tried to understand the answers, instead of coming into the conversation with his own preconceived ideas.

I really love how he progresses through this episode. He’s open from the start about how he doesn’t understand the logic of someone being trans because it doesn’t make sense to him, but aside from some rudeness at first, he shows a genuine want to learn the other perspective and asks questions to get a better understanding. By the end once he’s got the answers to those questions, he actually understands it and is happy to support her. He never means to be disrespectful and gets a better answer when people aren’t dancing around the topic like it’s taboo

Murphy (the doctor) is autistic, the dude genuinely can’t understand why people would feel that way, if you’re a member of the LGTBQ, hating on his character being so adamant in his mentally is being hypocritical.

i think that it is important to understand that in some cases, individuals with undiagnosed ASD may do surgery and go through gender transition, but still struggle to find a sense of fulfillment. So this interaction between a transgender patient and an ASD doctor is quite interesting imho

"I dont know what it feels like to be anyone but me". And that's ok embrace who you are you will feel sad and lonely sometimes but thats just you telling yourself that you changing and you can embrace that. And I you cant or do not want to that's ok you do what you feel like. Not anybody else.

I completely resonate with this I’m also autistic and ask this question they were so understanding and helped me learn some people get mad cuz they don’t understand

It’s so interesting that they chose to go the route of “person with autism doesn’t understand transitioning” instead of the more accurate portrayal of “person with autism doesn’t understand the gender construct” more often than not, people with autism are more likely to not be cis
