Dude, so much good info here. I had originally dismissed this as just another campaign game. The comparisons you made to Cthulhu DMD piqued my interest, and got me excited. I had also taken the 3-4 payer expansion at face value, assuming it added full gameplay for two additional players. Your research saved me from making a huge mistake! Thank you! I played the original #GodofWar on PS2 in 2005. I'm a huge fan of the series. I'm disappointed that I won't be backing this game.

The fact they say there’s no prototype is a huge red flag and a TTS version that only a few people have access too is more than enough reason to hold off until the end. $1 pledges should be the only way to go for this one, especially since the daily goals are replacing traditional stretch goals. As a video gamer and loving the IP (especially the latest ones which this board game is based off of), I was initially interested. Then we learned it was 2p only so my interest plummeted. And the final straw was the shipping ... on par with Marvel United games or Zombicides which seem to have way more content than this ... So I'm still following the campaign and will only decide at the end, or probably even wait for the PM 😅 #godofwar

This was such a weird launch for CMON. I'm not sure what was going on behind the scenes, but they absolutely should have held off launching the campaign until they had a rule book and gameplay video ready to go. Calling daily unlocks "stretch goals" was a mistake. Their "free gift" of the 3-4 player expansion feels... Weak. I agree that the brothers characters feel very removed, and support characters are not what most people are going to want to play in this particular IP. I'm holding off final judgement until near the end of the campaign because I want to see gameplay videos (which are supposedly coming).

#godofwar Im definitely not backing this, i was excited for a 2 player focused game but then the shipping being almost $50 for the base game is a joke. the fact that they only have one real boss in the core box and trying to pass of normal enemies as bosses is laughable, im sure they will release probably 5 more expansions at $50 easch with only one boss in each. then they throw in a 3-4 player expansion completely defeats the 2 player gameplay because now it won't be as focused as it would have been without it, now they have to make sure it plays well with 3-4 now. By the time they release everything shipping will most likely be over $100. Its very sad how they are trying to milk the fans and the people excited for this.

I am not really sure how to feel about this game. I was really excited and even followed as soon as I saw it announced. I never played the video game but was really interested in it. The game seemingly just being made for 1-2 players doesn’t bother me because I would most likely be playing solo anyways. But I am just really worried about the replay ability of it. It just seems like it could feel samey quickly. Not enough scenarios and the combat does seem too simplified and maybe not something I would enjoy. I am still interested but now I’m more hesitant, I feel they definitely should have included a good gameplay video or given review copies to content creators so they could do it for them. I just want to know more. #GodOfWar

I was very hyped for #GodofWar but so far feel very underwhelmed. I will watch Board Game Co's playthrough to help decide. I love DMD but those Elder ones have way more influence changing the game than these bosses. I believe they only add in 2 cards. We will have to wait and see.

Big Fan of the IP since I got my first console with one of my 1st checks...GOD all times. I'm backing cause I am a big fan of Kratos and what that virtual being has ment to me. The table top simulation, while is not a complete miss, it is very dissapointing, I don't know how it got so FAR OFF from the vibe the games have had, that makes you wonder if they ever played a GoW title for real. Where is the grit...the LORE, the immersivness, it lacks SOUL, that DMD has more of, honestly.. Yeah I am just bumped along with the other almost 18k followers hoping it will turn good in the end. I can't really complain about shipping, while I want the game so bad, but in the end CMON is respecting its almost "racketering fees" badge, true and true, they don't even try to hide it, but at least offer something truly memorable for it. Yeah I ramble too much, but true fans are heartbroken and hope that another publisher can make it better, cause at this point it is just sad, to sit mid campaing with such a big IP name at only 300K (there are card games that sold better)...Witcher is a card driven game and still amased more than 5mil, I simply wait to see if it gets canceled. #GodOfWar

Good overview, man. defo not picking this up as looks about as interesting as the horizon board game, which was garbage. Also, Death May Die is classed as a dungeon crawler, like masions of madness, shadows of brimstone, etc. 😊

I for once am backing #GodofWar that is mostly nostalgia but I enjoyed the one and only gameplay posted- I think the choices are there: how to distribute your attacks and what to attack or to help your teammate (if there is one). I also enjoy that it plays quickly. Looks like a puzzly quick fights- Id call it a puzzle fighter ;)

I am passing, I feel like you get a better 2 player bag building experience with Isofarian Guard. Also that game has more content. Sure its not the God of War Ip, but from experience having an Ip doesn't mean you will get a good game. Everything here seems more generic for me, despite the Ip, that I am passing.

Obligatory Hashtag Here - #godofwar - I was hyped for this one also, but the fact that there isn't a rule book, no gameplay coverage, what I perceive as lack of content/value, and it seems like the state of the game is very very early has turned me off. If a company is going to release as many games as CMON does in a fiscal year, they should be much closer to a finished state when the crowd funding campaign kicks off, imo.

I also need to go back and finish #GodOfWar, days need to have more hours man... I don't know about this board game adaptation tho, not really convinced I should go for it I'm currently more interested in Castles of Burgundy, probably gonna end up going for that one

Im personally extremely excited. Like yourself, I believe there is a ton of potential. But I’m also on that end of will this be one I play a few times and doesn’t stick with my group. Excellent video, I am pretty underwhelmed by the content in the game (at least for right now) and I'm not seeing what makes this a better play than Death May Die or a D&D dungeon crawler. I've just been very meh on CMON lately - they have beaten Zombicide into the ground, etc (to be fair, I haven't played War for Arrakis yet). They get Erik Lang back on board, and I'll definitely be down for that. Until then, I'm gonna pass on most CMON games.

Some of the new enemies and additions seem more interesting that they have introduced after the last week, but I’m still not completely sold. But gosh I love the IP…so still tempted. I was backing #GodOfWar until today. I saw the expansion announcement and it looked underwhelming and overpriced. I love the IP and expected to spend a bunch on it. Instead, I just decided to finish getting games that are already out that I haven’t gotten because most my money had been going to campaigns like this. Now that I haven’t backed a bit game in a while I could afford to finish getting the rest of the Great Western Trail trilogy. Played it solo today and it’s such a delight. Looks much more satisfying than GoW unfortunately. Such a disappointment! Why did they have to have damage markers for every hit? A boss has 35 damage! Such a fiddly mess. What a shame.

#GodOfWar is one of my favorite video game since the first one on PS2 but i'll pass on the campaign for now because i already wait for Isofarian Guard and Dragon Eclipse that are 2 players only

#GodofWar I notice there's a whole lot of crowdfunding boardgames with popular IPs being made these days. Never got into God of War but was enticed with other IPs like Slay the Spire and Deep Rock Galactic.

#GodOfWar Was a bit excited for this title at first. After looking through the offer for a bit though, unless they come out with a lot more grandiose type gameplay I think it misses the mark for me. I expected for god of war almost a boss battler or hybrid with massive enemies and Gods. Not just what feels like generic enemies. The board itself also seems mediocre to me. Also, who would want to play through as the son? This is a skip for me unless there are some very intriguing changes. I wonder if they had to keep the scale down in thought of retail accessibility later on. I do know Cmon likes to add a ton of stuff over the course of their campaigns though.

The God of War Gamefound campaign is easily the most disapponting board game campaign I've ever witnessed! It's like they know how to do everything wrong, and they did a bait-and-switch with Fimbulwinter content. No Baldur, but plenty of Greek gods and plenty of badly sculpted minions to grind with the unnecessarily limited scenarios and tiles.

No. This is a company that actively worked with Sweet Baby Inc. Back and support nothing they do at all moving forward. Boycott everything they do as long as they involve DEI consultants in anything related to their projects.
