God will not test us beyond our current strength but works to grow our strength through wilderness seasons. We need the strength we gain through the wilderness for future assignments we are not currently ready for. These assignments are part of God’s plan for us, and we will be accountable before Jesus for them someday, whether we were prepared to fulfill them or whether we weren’t ready for the lack of enduring the wildernesses.

It took me an hour to watch this 15-minute message. I had never heard of you; I was seeking a message to watch for encouragement (because for years now I have been in a desert, and it's been hard). During my search, I came across your 15-minute video. I thought, 'Let me watch this and then I'll watch an hour-long message.' About four minutes into your video, I realized I needed a pen and my notebook to jot down what you were teaching. It was something I'd been longing to hear. So, I started the video from the beginning. I paused here and there to write down your message and relate it to my experiences. I've filled about three A4 pages. Now, as I head to sleep, I feel that I've received what I needed. God has spoken to me in a way I have never heard him speak to me through you... I've been challenged. God bless you, Pastor. May all praise be to God. Tomorrow, I'll be starting this series at 1: 'Do You Feel Spiritually Stuck?' Lesson 1: The Wilderness. I can hardly wait!

So how do you teach someone not to despair in these times? Could you give a teaching on this please! Thank you.
@essennagerry

I think I can help you somewhat! First think about all of the things you *trust God for* and all of the things you are *thankful for.* Read the letters in the New Testament and when you encounter something you personally are thankful for and/or trust God for take a short pause from reading and actually verbalize it. Preferably even out loud - it makes a difference - but the main point is to focus on it. I find I often rush by things in my mind and regardless of how well I know certain truths it makes a difference to actually pause and focus your mind on it for a little while. In addition to this, ponder on what these things you trust for and are thankful for really mean in your life today, for the rest of your life and for the eternal life we'll have. It may sound silly or clishe but it's helped me a lot to think about how, actually pause and focus my mind on how the things I despair over don't matter in the long run and thus barely matter now, at least not in a way that warrants desprair. A personal example: I used to despair over how I am probably a horrible person to marry. It may sound weird and not like a real problem (compared to something like having to take care of a very sick loved one or things like that) but it was horrible for me. It helped me to *keep thinking about the truths I find in the bible and in my relationship with God which 1. mean this isn't true or if it is it's nothing God can't handle anyway and 2. make me perfectly content if the worst case scenario happens* (in this case if I don't ever marry) *because there are several things more important to me than that all founded in God and layed out in the bible and there's nothing stopping me from pursuing them.* The enemy is trying hard to trick us in our minds and it can become very convoluted so taking the time to untangle it and focus on the truths even if it seems unnecessary and maybe even silly is very worth it and not redundant at all. Taking the time to explicitly think those thoughts makes it easier for your brain to take _those_ neuropathways next time. (If you want to get creative you could even take a piece of A4 paper and cut it like an elipse to resemple those medicine capsules 💊 and write what crystalizes from the process I described above. And then "take it three times a day" like a doctor's prescription. Probably better: just the verses which served that process.) Also, don't get tricked by shame. Shame is only good initially, just to be embarrassed about your sin or failure and repent, but know that immediately you are forgiven and God does not see you as shameful or embarrassing so don't dare see yourself this way. If God of the universe sees you a certain way that is the way you truly are, and He is holy and knows much better about holiness and sin than we do, so don't take His sacrifice to make you holy lightly. Walk in that boldness - it's not audacious, it's honoring of God's sacrifice on the cross and respect toward what God says about you. Once you fall because of sin repent and just get back up again and walk upright and in joy immediately because it's God who is stretching out His arm to help you get up from that fall of sin through His sacrifice, and His arm is always stretched out to you. In all the confusion ask God to bring clarity, trust Him in the midst of all the uncertainty, confusion and lack of clarity, and walk, as in act, according to what you do know and understand and what you do believe and trust. Call out to God and He won't disappoint you, in Romans 10 Paul cites that scripture says "whoever believes in Him will not be disappointed'. Also, older women in my church encouraged me to do this and I did it and it really helped. Infact, it helps me immediately, within a minute or so I realize it worked. I was dealing with depressive feelings coming in phases and the phases were becoming more frequent and longer. I started saying things like *"all thoughts and feelings of depression go away from me now in the name of Jesus Christ by Whose blood I am covered"* and I say it *out loud!* I don't know what spiritual power has to hear it and go away but it seems they hear it and go away, every time. I kid you not, it has always worked. I have a hard time understanding authority but apparently we have this much authority at least, given to us by God, and the power of the name of Jesus Christ is so very real as well as the fact that we are covered by His blood is so powerful. I realize now you are asking not for yourself but asking how to teach someone else. I hope this is still helpful though if even just food for thought. We need to focus on the eternal and not on the things the enemy is trying to make important in our minds. I want to encourage you or whoever you want to teach with Philippians 4:4-9 and especially verse 8 as a practical guide on what to think about and what not to think about, as in literally what to spend time thinking about and what not. And I want to encourage you or whoever you want to teach to not read this passage seeing condemnation or critism toward themselves in these passages but rather seeing encouragement and freedom to do these things in this passage and to ask God to build these things up inside them and expect of God to do it too, and thank Him for it too. *Philippians 4:4-9 "4 Rejoice in the Lord always; again I will say, rejoice! 5 Let your gentle spirit be known to all men. The Lord is near. 6 Be anxious for nothing, but in everything by prayer and supplication with thanksgiving let your requests be made known to God. 7 And the peace of God, which surpasses all comprehension, will guard your hearts and your minds in Christ Jesus. 8 Finally, brethren, whatever is true, whatever is honorable, whatever is right, whatever is pure, whatever is lovely, whatever is of good repute, if there is any excellence and if anything worthy of praise, dwell on these things. 9 The things you have learned and received and heard and seen in me, practice these things, and the God of peace will be with you."* I'm a woman and I'm not sure to what extend I'm allowed to teach (I think I'm not allowed to teach a man with authority and trying to rule over him which I'm not sure where the line is between with authority and without authority but at least not trying to rule over a person seems easy to understand haha) but I think it's ok to share my thoughts, my experience and my opinions. Definitely test what I'm claiming with scripture! I wish you and whoever you want to teach all the best! ❤ Much love from a sister in Christ.

God would already know who would / would not come through the 'wilderness' successfully and be ready for the planned assignment. I understand the concept of testing to make you stronger but why does he still allow a person to be tested on something that he already knows they will fail on ? I'm not trying to be 'controversial' here - I'm simply trying to understand because I've been going through something lately and I'm wondering if this video could be the answer to some (or all) of the questions I've had.
@essennagerry

I think maybe God wants us to see it. There's strengths I thought I had and in a sense I really did have those steengths but only in the context of whay I had been through until then. Faced with other challenges those strengths failed and through me seeing they failed I could dig deep inside and see where my thought patterns went wrong and what my mistakes really were and then ask God for help and guidance. I think the reason why God doesn't just give us these strengths magically is because He wants to work on our hearts. For me God's work inside my heard is so much more valuable than not going through failed tests. I think the failed tests are for illumination. Even when your heart sincerely and with purity wants to obey God fully and be fully dedicated if your heart is blind to things inside it it won't quote get it right. God illuminates in different ways. It's happened to me that people tell me things about me whicu I genuinely tried to see, I tried to examine and see them and really couldn't. But years later after learning and experiencing a lot I started seeing them. And even then I needed God's grace and God's will to be able to. In the midst of this long, introspective, intellectual and emotional process I was going through which seemed very natural and not supernaturak there were two moments when it was like God snapped His fingers and a thing was revealed to me, all of a sudden, in an instant. I think God showed me that even all these oh so natural seeming processes are still guided by Him and He decides what He allows when. But I digress. I think through the tests we fail God is working on our hearts. He doesn't test like people test, His purposes are different. We test to know, we test to see proof of what we want to know, He tests His children who He adopted through Christ like a parent who already knows the child will fail but wants to teach them something - at least that's what I think. I may be wrong. Maybe He has other reasons for testing, or other reasons as well as this reason. Maybe He also tests so that the universe knows too, not just Him who knows everything but also so that the spiritual powers see the evidence for what He already knows? And in the context of testing us specifically and us failing that too servses for His glory because He shows what great work He does in us who fail this way yet He stays faithful and leads us to success?

Hey all! I have a question. Can you point to somewhere in the Bible where it eludes to the fact that at judgement, God will say “You didn’t handle the wilderness season correctly, where’s what I had for you *if* you handled it correctly so I had to find someone else.” Even if it’s not verbatim, can someone point to the Bible and lmk where that phenomenon is suggested? I’ve had personal encounters with the Lord and the messages are ALWAYS in the vein of “In your weakness Jasmine, my glory/strength is made perfect. In times of insurmountable overwhelm, lay it at my feet. I am faithful and just to finish the work I started in you.” The messages seem contradictory but I also acknowledge I’m a toddler Christian and have a lot to learn. If God allows wilderness seasons, i feel spiritual dissonance with the notion that we can fail so He has to find someone else, or that we forfeit our gifts. Any conversation is appreciated.

The Scripture doesn't say "tested", it says "tempted". God tests. Satan temps. I think that Scripture often misquoted to justify testing. I'm surprised John Bevere did it as well.
