Don’t forget Stellarblade, hell of an action game, combat is great! This year does feel like a very third party heavy year. Do wonder if we get a big showcase for the pro announcement and can the price it to sell?

We complain all the time about games getting announced way too early. Now that Playstation is actually following that strategy its so weird for people to act like its suddenly dying. We are constantly flooded with new games every week and the fact people are complaining because we arent hearing about games that arent ready to be shown. We spent the last 4 years talking about how Xbox spent the last generation showing a bunch of games way to early and they either got cancelled or trapped in dev hell. If its not coming out in the next 9 months frankly we dont need to hear about it because its not real yet.

Everyone is always super reactionary, as soon as PlayStation announce some games suddenly that means that Xbox is dying. In reality both platforms are doing just fine

There has to be some kind of balance though. Nintendo announces games months before they release, but they also consistently release new games every year from different genres, big or small. Even these past two years when we thought/feard we were gonna have a slow year they still reveal games like Mario Wonder and Echoes of Wisdom. We are 4 years into the life of the PS5 and we have 0 idea what their developers or working, even if they’re obvious. At some point we have to question their announcement strategy.

If you compare ps5 to ps4 up to the same time period, PS5 crushes it. Then add on top 2nd party and 3rd party time exclusives and it's not even close.

In terms of games sales that's just blatantly not true. Truth is a huge chunk of ps5 sales happened due to scarcity creating artificial value. So people bought ps5 as soon as it came in stock, and didn't evaluate if they were going to actually use it. I see that with wayyy too many people. Their ps5 collects dust. Not to mention the pandemic being why many people got one. Sony also is in no rush to make games for the ps5. How many exclusives are there? 5? Most games are on ps4 as well, or pc. Ps5 games don't sell as much. Chicken or egg situation, but still.

I think their arguments are fine. I don’t have a problem with what is actually being said. My problem is, back when Xbox was mainly relying on third party deals and funding games like Cuphead and Ori for content, media ripped Xbox to shreds. This was at a time when we all know MS was not providing Xbox with the investment and resources they needed to do more. They had 5 studios up until 2018. It just seems that Sony and Nintendo kind of get treated with kid gloves.

That's still the case. I'm a nintendo fanboy, and I spend much more money with them than anyone else. But they don't get critisized enough, neither does sony. Xbox does good stuff and people talk shit. Sony makes EGREGIOUS mistakes and people downplay it.

Everyone always says they want to see Playstation do something other than third-person, single-player action games. This year they have a couple of fun multiplayer games, a character-action game that got good reception, a LEGO game, and a 3D platformer that's probably going to get excellent reception. And yet the same people who claim to want Playstation to "take more risks and make smaller games" are now saying they don't have any games this year. Not to mention all of the third-party exclusives they've had/are having this year... Final Fantasy, Rise of the Ronin, Silent Hill, etc. No one ever tried to make the case that third-party exclusives don't count when it comes to other console manufacturers. People seem to be reaching so hard to preserve the Playstation doom and gloom narrative

Bro this is Ponie salt to the fullest. Starfield sold very well, millions of copies. PS has a bunch of failures themselves. This talk about a “lead” is wild as well. If it wasn’t for PC Helldivers would of been an epic sale. Plenty of other titles under selling as well. Gears of War E Day

I'll say this again. Having a great PC, an Xbox, a Switch and a PS5 is the way to go these days. This way you get to play anything you want no need to join any team, play games not plastic boxes.

I play games on series x and ps5 because I don't always feel like coming home from work where I sit at a desk and fix computers and maintain servers, and do networking, etc. Then to once again in my free time sit at desk more. Sometimes a person just wants to sit on the couch or a good lounge chair and play a game.

Game pass etc are the only reasons capitalism is good: when theoretical money value creates jobs and goods and products, made from investments from billionaires. That's how everything is generated in capitalism. Either it is theoretical value from rich people dumping money into investments, or they're exploiting workers, or they're exploiting vulnerable consumers (lootboxes etc). Game pass for now is using rich people money. The growth is finite long term anyway.
