It’s not a co-conspirator statement. It’s a statement against his own interest only related to his case. It can't be used in further trials. The cofounder (who took a similar deal) plea clearly states he can plead Alford but must testify truthfully in further trials if needed. Gunna is neutralized. They don't need him and can't use his statement if he's not being used as a witness. The state doesn't plan to use him. If they do, his plea allows him to plead the fifth.

Ya, they helped the DA make their case, while ignoring they were fine with people dying, buying drugs & get shot/robbed daily for their own benefit, but telling to avoid consequences/accountability can easily be rationalized by certain people these days! The cofounders deal is a little different. He agreed to testify truthfully in the trial if needed. Gunna took a plea independently, not as a co-conspirator, so his statement can't be used in a trial. The only reason he had to say it was a gang was because of the nature of the charges. He couldn't say it wasn't a gang because the charges were associated with gang activity, or he wouldn't meet the conditions of the deal and would've had to do time. He will not be used as a witness, and if they do back out on his deal and call him in, he can plead the fifth. The cofounder has to testify.

@@nia4842 this is not entirely true. He can CERTAINLY be called to testify. He will most likely exercise his 5th Amendment right but he WILL be called. And his cooperation isn’t needed at trial. Just the basis of what he affirmed in his yes, ma’am. That’s the law in Georgia.

Georgia Rules of Evidence, § 18:9 (2013). Georgia courts have held that an Alford plea is admissible in subsequent criminal cases, so Gunna established The States Case.

Not in this case. That's if they are eatablishing a similarity. That's if he was a witness. His statement wasn't a co-conspirator statement. It was a statement against his own interest only related to his case. The state has already said they aren't using him as a witness, so his statement can't be used. The "cofounder" of YSL took a similar plea but with the agreement to testify truthfully in any further trial if necessary. They don't need Gunna. His plea allows him to plead the fofth of called, but they've said they won't. They have another major dude that turned state (still confined) and have as many as 300 witnesses.

If anyone is ever in a situation where they are tied up with a codefendant. Either shut up and take it or plea guilty and let the judge handle the sentence. I was offered a year in county plus "cooperate" or face 13yrs. I was handed 3+1+2 for pleading guilty. Serving it Consecutively for refusing to answer anything aside from "I'm guilty of all counts".

If you think they needed Gunna to say YSL is a gang to do anything, that's hilarious. It didn't hurt their case. His word is minimal. It's to document should he do any other crime. He didn't provide proof of any crime or that they're a gang. The fact that he's saying that while taking a deal can easily be dismissed in court and that it was said under coercion. You do this, and you'll walk today. This didn't hurt YSLs case. Now, if he provided dates of the crimes charged, etc, then that's different. They already have someone in YSL who turned witness (as well as 300 other witnesses) that is a big part of the case that's going to get on the stand and point.

Everyone in the case is going to have to take a plea. No one is talking about the fact that one of the YSL co-founders took a plea deal, admitting that YSL is a gang prior to Gunna taking his plea. What choice Gunna had but to take a plea when the co-founder already admitted to the group being a gang. I am sure Young Thug will have no choice but to take a plea deal now.

One of Thug best friend's passed and gave him Gunna to take care of. Thug got a heart, he definitely trying to get Gunna out and Gunna wouldn't take any deal without talking to Thug first. #Loyalty #imo

I believe thug had everything to do with this decision. They can’t use what he said to effect the other cases. Somebody has to make the money or nobody is getting out.

Snitching and ratting. A snitch is someone who sees something and says something. Doesn’t lead a life of crime, but reports acts of crime to the police for some sort of personal gain. Pretty much a a tattle tale. Ratting, is someone who indulges in a life of crime, knows the consequences of committing said crimes, gets caught and tells on those who he committed crimes with, to save his own ass. In other words, once caught on a trap, a rat if given the opportunity, will bite off its own leg, to go free. Now, take that information and decipher whether hes a snitch or a rat
