I'VE HAD A COUPLE in the past at work at different companies. It's best not to get so friendly at work with the ladies. I found out they (the work wife) started to have feelings for you. Even if they are married. Best to keep things professional and not overly friendly.

I remember years ago people started calling a co-worker my bf, including higher ups. We worked closely together on IT projects and design. I was so shocked to hear my own leader say it and then realized other people were saying it. He was older than me, married, and had kids. All those idiots did was turn a perfectly harmless and highly productive work partnership into something I was embarrassed about. People are effing idiots. There was no flirting; we never even had lunch together outside of team meetings.

As someone who met my husband at work, I understand how relationships start at work and how being overly friendly comes off as flirting, so its unacceptable to pay that kind of attention to someone when they have / you have a spouse that you probably SHOULD be being more affectionate too at home anyways. Save that energy for your own family.

I think there are A LOT of older, single women in their careers who need (perhaps too much?) attention and affection while working. The best place to find it is not in the workplace!
