The woke stuff is mainly in 5 countries mainly 5 white Anglo nations. Canada United States, Australia, New Zealand and United Kingdom are all tier one Anglo nations and all share identical academic viewpoint. India is more like a 2nd or 3rd tier Anglo nation. Via imperialism. The woke Anglo can export and subvert 2nd and 3rd tier Anglo nation into woke ideology.

India is not an Anglo nation. It is just a post-colonial State that has so far failed to regain its sense of cultural initiative (unlike the non-colonized Asian civs like China, Japan, etc.) Sanskrit was to the Indian continent what Latin was to Europa - the intellectual link language. Considering the modern Indian State is not an ethnic nation-state like the European ones (it's a civilizational nation-state), it must've adopted Sanskrit as its national language - after simplifying the grammar & expanding the vocabulary - like the Chinese & Israelis did.

@@JohnDelVentomusic Please show some compassion. If you looked back at your history and all you saw was a 1000 year period where every Tom, Dick and Harry from Central and West Asia invaded and conquered at will, whilst your own ancestors stood by and watched, you too would become a victim of inferiority complex and start resorting to compensatory behaviours (e.g. going around announcing how great you are; dissing the people who make you feel inferior etc), in an attempt to salvage your own self-esteem.. What Hindu Nationalists need is psychotherapy for low self-esteem and inferiority complex, not ridicule.

Abhinav are you Bangali? Namaskar from this Bangali brother from Bangladesh Respectfully, 1. Pakistan has significant separatist/nationalist underlying problems, their mini empire / afghan policy can be seen as a diversion and to channel possible separatist energies esp of pathans outward. The same thing with sending out fundies outside, it makes sense for Pakistan. Their political formula for good or ill is based on islam as a state ideology to centralize state authority and exporting fundies helps them get rid of potential problems who can cause trouble inside... and thus fundies becomes a tool of the state to activate as needed. This has been overall a good thing from the perspective of having a strong and healthy state which can override the many cracks and cleavages in Pakistan. 2. Economically Pakistan is aligned with China, with all that entails, and as china sets new milestones Pakistan can ride it's coattails. 3. Geopolitically by cultivating relationship with China even when china was down and out, Pakistan has bet on the right horse. The west is not the future and neither are it's ideological products. 4. On the contrary Pakistan's policy while being aggressive and quasi expansionist is in fact totally logical, their focus is limited, their projects are limited, their ability to play the superpowers against each other and get the best deal is smart. On the contrary Pakistan knows it's limitations and uses what it has seemingly very efficiently, even their defense projects are limited but effective, there's a trend there. At any rate i respectfully disagree with the assessment of Pakistan. 5. On Bangladesh, it's an ethnostate that's the biggest thing going for it. It took a long time to get going, i think partially because Bangladesh is the lesser part of historic Bengal. Compared to West Bengal and adjacent areas to the west in india, Bangladesh not too long ago was a massive fishing hole. For what it's worth unfortunately the better part of Bengal is in India.

Very interesting view Razib, please continue to be objective. In India, our common gripe of Muslims, is that we cannot have an open discussion or a discussion with logic. A Hindu will easily consider a view point that he or she is wrong (if you see Church planted Indologists, this was done on a massive scale over a period of time) and feel shame whereas a Muslim will never consider an opposing view point. Hinduism is all about objectivity and merits, I enjoy hearing your informed view points. Sometimes I feel all of India’s Hindus are like the frog in a well who see only the sky the well permits and thinks its the universe. The most important thing he said was to become rich and powerful. Unfortunately, the west won’t allow this. They’ve made the rules of the game and they’re happy so long as you follow them (and know your place). If you attempt to create a parallel power structure. Expect a challenge and be prepared to defend it. But this alternative needs to be defined and be consistent. Personally, I think the subcontinent (India and Pakistan specifically) cannot be successful until they overhaul their justice system and make the locals believe that they can get justice. Everything follows from that. Also, politicians need to realise that are they playing T-20 (short term), one days (medium term) or test matches (long term). If you want to be successful, you need to focus on being successful in the long term whilst protecting the short term and medium term. So sometimes, politicians need to play the gentleman’s game, accept losses graciously and agree to fight another day. If they are constantly just focused on the short term, you’ll never get out the rut. If you give the opposition the chance to believe they have a chance at power, they are less willing to play dirty and start playing it as a zero sun game.

a) I don't like how sure this guy is of everything he says. A genuinely bright, wise thinker is never 'that' sure of himself. He talks like his opinion is 'it' on these matters. For example, the woke thing is not necessarily limited to their history, wokism is not necessarily strictly a white phenomenon even if it essentially is. The western empire actively seeks and tries to manufacture a following around the world and there are always subcultures and thoughts within every such weltanschauung. Humility, questioning oneself, etc...just not the case with this guy, and b) He's a bangladeshi american that spends an extraordinary amount of time following Indian content so there is that relation there. Wonder what he thinks of himself as...originally a Hindu who converted (because he looks like a Dinesh to me)...is there a long lost link and affinity with India that it still feels like home to him coz it does seem there's still a very strong connection...does he somewhere feel like he's becoming a born again Hindu even?...the hindutva reawakens in him as it does all over India? and one thing that I would like to say is that there was a point where he said that Hindus get very uncomfortable when you talk about Muslims or criticizing them...his opinion was that it's because of past traumas...having lived in India all my life and having had these discussions for so many years...my experience has been that people are genuinely inclusive and accepting and genuinely respect other cultures at heart...the hate comes largely as a response to perceived and often genuine bigotry from the other side...even in RSS...it is mostly resentment for past evils...like imagine Jews being told Hitler was a great king that did great good to the Jewish state and it was thanks to him Jews found a nation and then lauded him as the father of Israel etc...it's going to make people angry...also...i dont like like how immature and nascent this guy is in his thinking even though he is knowledgable...his mental age is still of a college sophomore to quite an extent. so in case you're reading Razib...do let me know what you think in a genuinely polite fashion...also...trying to make sense of you...you're a bangladeshi living in America and spend a whole lot of time following Indian politics...works in genetics and not a true blue muslim at heart because of the retaliation mentioned in tweets n stuff....so culturally an Indian and American with ethnic roots in Bangladesh...

I have been saying what Razib said, but differently, the progressive Indian community have always associated itself with the modern powerful global entity, for example - Gandhi, who according to the Arthur Herman's book, believed he was a Brit before he was thrown off the train in South Africa because that's what well-read Indians do, they lap onto the strongest entity. And, now they have started to associate themselves with the Americans, and in Delhi where I live if you hear people talk, they try to sound like Americans and for example will say Zed for Zee, particularly if they are in their mid 20's, because of globalization and the internet. The amount of self loathing is very sad.

22:50 Well, Sanskrit was to the Indian continent what Latin was to Europa - the intellectual link language. Considering Modern India is not an ethnic state like the European ones (it's a civilizational State), it must've adopted Sanskrit as its national language - after simplifying the grammar & expanding the vocabulary - like the Chinese & Israelis did.
