raj and Australia has a higher cost of living than the rest of the countries featured. that's why it's cheap for them in Japan, Hawaii, and practically everywhere else they visit.

Tokyo has a reputation for being a very expensive city, but like with many other places, if you know where to go and buy sensibly, one can get by on a fairly low budget.

I feel that how often people want to travel dictates how much they want to budget each visit to a new country. If you only travel once every few years cost may not be a burden as much as someone like me that likes to travel 3 to 4 times per year.

Basically to confirm for some wondering why there are so many Australians touring asia and especially japan... its because we live in one of the mostly costly countries in the world, for a lot of things, especially car rego here in Queensland lol. But yeah, we travel to places like japan because its close, and affordable

Booze is pretty cheap in Japan. Try Takagi, it's a alcoholic beverage retail chail.

The biggest cost is Airfare! Ridiculous! Once you get there, except for bullet train rides it shouldn’t be any more than the US.
