lol I hear you but to each his own. They 'can' benefit from more ram but at the end of the day the exact same beats will be made on there. The only way I can see this need is if you're producing large orchestral pieces. If doing most rap, r&b, pop, country, gospel or most genres..there is more than enough resources available. You can also freeze tracks if you need to stack 10 plugins on one sound. Remember, for the off chance that you need more than standalone offers, controller mode is available with all the computer's resources and no matter what people try to say...there is no difference in sound

Three instances of plugins. I don’t know what an extension is. Any combination of MPCs and computers up to *three* devices can share a plugin. Expansions can be run on any number of machines. Who knows what an extension is supposed to be.

That's the first thing I was thinking. I was hoping for the longest time (bought my Key 61 when it came out last year, it's my main midi controller now, but I use the VSTs extensively), so when I heard it was stripped of 2gb, thats weird to me. Because I want a super-portable version of the Key 61, but I don't want to be handicapped by a small detail like that, I'm a little on the fence now, price is good... I paid over twice for my key 61, but surely removing 2gb can't justify a whopping 1000$ off? So I'm thinking - the plugins are missing, waah! Can we use those key 61 plugins we already paid for in both?

Yes, you can use your current plug-ins it's just that loading them in will take slightly more time and you're probably will not be able to load as many plug-ins as on the key 61, but then again, you can't expect Akai to give you the same memory ram as the 61 otherwise nobody would buy the 61 unless you are a real piano player and you need 61 keys..@@joonglegamer9898

If it fills a niche, go for it. When I want to hit the keys, I go to the Key 61. If I need a quick chord progression or melodic passage, A MPK Mini, Mini Plus, or even a LPK 25 will do coupled with another MPC.

What monitors would you recommend under $800 for a pair?

If that is your budget, you should keep the HS's. Save up and then purchase a pair of Neumann KH150's. Read the reports and measurements at Audio Science Review. These monitors set a new standard.

I don’t understand what you mean or why you would want to…I’d either use this, my Key 61 or Live 2..but no need to use them together as they do the same thing. If you wanted to use it as an external synth on there, you should be able to…but you could just do the same sounds on the X without all that 🤷🏾‍♂️

I think what he means is can you link them together to have keys on the x and the answer is yes u can link the 2 verse using another midi keyboard to control the x you can use the keys to control the x thus keeping it all in the akai vibe and then have the portability of the key 37 when you aways from home base. I have actually did this with my 61 and x...and sold all my other midi keyboard controllers..it definitely makes more since especially for those that want to actually play the jets vs using pads in key group mode...so yeah I get what he is saying and I will be buying the 37 cuz when I would leave the house I would take my laptop and the mk225 and use the software and then port back to standalone when I'm home but soon as I saw the key37 I immediately sold the 225 to prepare for the 37..so when I travel it's all standalone now but still will have my laptop for my external vst...but mark my words when akai opens up the flood gates and partner with external vst maker like waves for instance and you can sync your account like you can splice ...listen the game will be over for everything only way the other will survive is preference it damn sure won't be because of they are better or the best...but mark my words akai is on it trust me standalone external vst coming

They pretty much always been that way and even worse with the OG samplers. It’s plenty for what they’re designed for and really easy to sample back in or use audio tracks (I never had to but that’s an option) And they were WAY more expensive in the 80s, 90s

Did a vid explains exactly why. All the parts come from IN music Corp and the parts and technology has to go across all brands to lower costs. This also restricts innovation because the sub brands can only use what IN Music buy at the cheapest cost. That is why almost all technology in the Key37 is over a decade old.

It has been that way… And not a problem, if I didn’t do KZfaq I wouldn’t get so many…but the content helps to make it worth it
