So Headquarters World War 2 is OUT! I have had a good amount of fun with it and now you can get into it as well; today I just give you a basic review/overview of what you can expect from the game and it's similarities to XCOM, The Troop and some of the features that set this game apart from other similar games on the market.

Seeing this game was released by Slitherine -- the company that never saw a dlc they didn't like -- I'd bet every possible theater will be another paid dlc.

I hope they add idle firing. If you want to know what i mean look up a mod for xcom 2 called idle suppression. Its kinda of a turn off if your doing a mission and your units and the enemy units stare at each other and everything is silent

This is very much needed for every turn based rts. Makes everything seem more lively and immersive. A firefight shouldn’t be silent.

The only thing I don’t like about this game is something very simple to remedy. The Germans have British accents for Pete’s sake. Even I can put on a German accent lol

I'm still hoping for a modern 2D Close Combat game. This will have to do for now. The game looks great.

I've been searching for a digital version of Advanced Squad Leader for quite some time. I've played everything from VASL to the Close Combat series to The Troop and Battle Academy (and many others too many to mention). However, they all seem to miss something that ASL has and I can't quite put my finger on it. Here's hoping that Headquarters WW2 can bring me closer to that same ASL feeling and finally satisfy that itch.

9 missions per campaign, 3 campaigns so ~27 missions

I love it so far! Though the shadows can be a bit harsh and result in many of my units looking very bad.

Will you play the troop again the game if fully out and you missed a good time to play the troop to cause their was an event mission focusing in the storie of the ambush at villers bocage

i think this way of talking is somewhere in australia but it's very, very annoying that all their sentences end with the exact same inflection. i remember going out of my way to find out where slapped ham is located.

Ugh only 9 missions per faction? Slitherine are on their BS as usual, expect many overpriced DLC

Ww2 and xcom 2 turn based style is a huge turn off and throws all of the ww2 ambience and authenticity in the trash. Company of heroes is already too arcadey for ww2 and this xcom turn based style is on another level. Let fantasies and sci fi genres stick to turn based tactics, because making a ww2 out of it just breaks all immersion
