I’m really interested in getting just one chicken. We already have quail. I know chickens should not be single pets but I’m wondering if it’s possible one chicken could fit into my existing quail population? I feel a lot of the issues addressed here are geared towards adding quail to your chicken colony and not the other way around.

You can actually crossbreed them too. Since they are similar sizes but you have to raise them since they are chicks and they have to grow with each other away from their own species so they think they are the same animal. Then naturally they will breed with each other!
