In todays video Ill be testing one of the most popular cartridges on the market; the CCI Standard velocity. I've used this cartridge for years, and it has proven itself a trustworthy product. Now I'm going to see how it groups on 25 yards.
In this test I'll be using my old Hämmerli 215 competition pistol. It has proven to be a super accurate pistol, and it really shows a cartridges potential.
The Ransom rest helps to give an accurate result of what the .22lr CCI Standard can do.
Have you shot this ammo? Leave a comment on your results.
Please subscribe, like and comment!
Do you have a request for a cartridge I should test? Comment in the commentsection and I'll try to make it happen.
In the list below you can see all the .22lr rimfire ammo I'll be testing(plus a few more...).

Great ammo for the money. Dont know how many 10K rounds I fired with this one. Moustly in mu Feinwerkbau AW93 and Hämmerli Xesse. My experience is that it has some more rounds that will not fire than CCI standard. But grat ammo fo training for fieldshooting with a pistol. But not reliable enough for bigger compettitions for me.

my other go to ammo is CCI mini-mag, some guns prefer the copper coating, might be easier to use at extreme temps compared to wax coatings. Question regarding the ransom rest, do you have to buy separate inserts for each gun or does the foam adapt enough(especially with lighter recoil guns?)Great content as always!

I have used mini mags as match ammo in steel challenge for several years. Good ammo, no doubts. Unfortunately they are expensive, at least here in Norway. Yes, you need separate inserts for different guns. And thank you for watching my videos!

I stopped using it. Far too dirty and fouls the bolt, barrel and everywhere else within 30 rounds. I use in subsonic, Norma or RWS ( same thing ) Supersonic, Hornady Varmint Express. All very clean rounds and never a dud. Thanks for testing it though, I think I would rather spend the extra few pounds on a quality round.

Very cool testing! I used this CCI standard for many years in my older ones because around here it was the only under 1100 fps ammo and Norma TAC, till recently I found the CCI Quite (835 fps) it’s very nice, same price and they group well and cycle better too. The old ones I run it(all the under 1100 fps ammo I can find)in are: 1.) Colt Woodsman Match Target series ll(made in 1950),very accurate, great grip with very light trigger. 2.)Browning Medalist, also very accurate with perfect grip & trigger. 3.)HiStandard Supermatic Citation Military with fluted 8” bull barrel. It’s Also very accurate with perfect fit & trigger. 4.) Marlin model 60 from 1982. 5.) Remington 550-1 from 1947, it also runs well the CCI CB Shorts(710 fps) they are a real treat out of its 24” barrel. It cycles them flawlessly too. My kids love it! 6.) Winchester model 74 from 1949, it loves CCI Standard, Quite and Norma 1080 fps or less. 7.) Wards Springfield 87a, It loves them as well as CCI shorts. 8.) my S&W Model 41 Performance Center, almost forgot it. It runs best with 1200 or less ammo as well. Norma, CCI Standard & mostly likes the CCI Quite @ 835 fps. It’s really a great round for the same price as the Standard when it can be found. Here in Minnesota SK, ELEY, Lapua, RWS is not available at any place here so hi priced on line orders only for that stuff. I did find S & K rifle match @ $8.99 a box of 50 so I got a few to try out soon. I think my CZ 457 Jaguar & Anschutz 1761 will like it. I really want to try ELEY Match, Standard & Lapua X or Midis sometime, Also RWS R-50 however I’m not sure I want to take a loan out for any of it yet. CCI Quite is really a good one, it drops a lil more then the standard however it’s far more constant and groups US Dime size at 30 yards in all the pistols I’ve listed. My newer ones like Browning Buckmark Hunter & Camper, Ruger mark lV Hunter, S&W Victory, Ruger 10/22, S&W 6” ten shot revolver & Heritage Rough Rider all run bulk Federal AutoMatch & Remington golden bucket bullets well at $0.04 & $0.05 a round thankfully but don’t group well like the CCI Standard & Quite. From one Viking to another I’m sure you can understand. I have 3 boys, 2 of whom are special needs children. One cannot walk well so plinking.22,s is a fun hobby. I have saved up and made payments on many, I work part time so I’m not wealthy however getting together a good variety to go shoot with was my goal to make it more fun. So far It’s a lot of fun!!! Great Video as always! Please try testing CCI Quiet, it’s my now go to along with Standard and CB Shorts.
@thegunviking
@thegunviking Жыл бұрын
Hi! Thank you for the kind words. I can certainly test the Quiet. There are several versions of the Quiet, and I believe I have at least two of them. The Eley Standard have I already footage of, and the video of that test is in the editing. I've also already tested the Eley Tenex, SK Long Range Match and a couple more. Once these videos are posted I will prioritize to test the Quiet. I'm jealous to hear about all your great guns! I love classic pistols, and would love to own more of them. Unfortunately the gun laws in Norway don't allow this. I'm happy to hear that you spend quality time with your children shooting. And .22's are perfect for this use. Money-wise I can relate. I don't have a full time job either, but i prioritize shooting. I don't smoke, very moderate in drinking, not hooked on expensive cars so the only thing I do that cost money is shooting. I can see from your surname that you have scandinavian, and as you say viking, roots. I would guess Norway. Brekke is a name that originates from the vestern parts of Norway. Am I right? Best regards Gunviking

@@thegunviking I certainly don’t want you to be jealous, just wanted to give you a break down of what works best in certain ones. It took me a long time to figure it all out. It was a fun process actually, quite tedious but interesting as well. My Family is from the Norway area known as Brekke. They came here in the late 1800,s. About 30 years ago my Fathers Mom and Dad went there(Norway). They had a lot of fun. I would really love to go to Norway to stay for at least a week to learn the area, spend time & learn my heritage better and of course Norwegian speech/language better. I would probably fall in love with Norway and want to stay, 😉. However I would want to also Visit Sweden, Denmark & of course Finland. I have several Pontiac enthusiast friends I have talked with many times in all 4 countries so naturally I would want to bring my old Tempest. It’s in my picture during our wedding, it’s a member of our family. Also I would want to bring my .22,s to share with plinking/Target enthusiasts there as well. That is a bummer about your laws there, I’m sorry for that. We have some bad people making bad decisions here recently as well towards law abiding people who are not criminals and follow the law. When are they gonna realize that taking firearms from law abiding citizens only enables criminals more & gun free zones are a joke. Some States here are run by real Jackasses who seem to be paid by special interest to take 2nd amendment rights written into our constitution from citizens. That’s the only thing that seems to make sense of the real dumb laws and decisions they make. I’m proud of my heritage, also proud both my grandfather’s served in WWll. My mothers father also served in Korea as a weapons Sergeant after WWll. Best regards to you as well good sir!

@@joshbrekke6374 I'm sure you would love all the countries. I haven't been in Finland, but several times in Denmark and I live 15 minustes from the Swdish border. You would have a great time driving through all these countries. But bringing guns with you will be a great hassle, as every country has its own rules. On the other hand there are a lot of gun clubs in all these countries where I guess you would be more than welcome to visit. The gun laws here aren't draconical, you can easily own 30-40 guns if you hunt and shoot competition, but the problem is that you have to apply to the police every time you want a new one, and you can't already own a gun for the purpose you are applying(with certain exceptions). I also comes from a military family. My father is a retired brigadier general, and he has served in Lebanon and Yugoslavia. I'm just a corporal, but has done my time in the service, in all honesty just in Norway. I wish you the best sir!

Ah, CCI SV... My €0,02: It's a pity they haven't got regular raised/standing trays that suspend the cartridges by the rim, just a plastic tray that's supposed to hang freely in the cardboard box (but in which the bullet can get damaged easily enough) and once you take them out you basically have to dump them on a surface, you can't pick out the cartridges from the tray one by one. Also wax application has been erroneous very often: some none, others thick globs... Not my cartridge. One budget type of ammo I've had good luck with (provided the lot was good) was Federal Champion 714, the Standard Velocity type (not the 510, High Velocity). Is that available in Norway? Might be a good test subject? As always, thank you for creating and sharing these videos, much appreciated!

@@mus1970 Thank you for the heads up on the HV ammo. I know that the earlier 215`s and 208`s had a somewhat fragile frame, and they could crack, and that they reinforced them in later production. I startet with metric, but several people asked if I could use imperial instead. Actually we mix metric and imperal a lot in the shooting communities in europe.
