Nice Nasher ! Personally i use the aliexpress convertables unsharpened and in public and I think they work fine. The only significant limitation for me with them is that they don't have blade holders and as a result when you try to cut tight the boot or the frame contacts the ice... so you can't cut as tight.

I could see this as a budget option for just cruising around and maybe a stick and puck. I couldn't imagine ever trusting this in an actual game. Not from a performance perspective, but worrying that the blade would snap under heavy load and lead to a bad injury.

You say its pointless, but what stops it from being a budget option for having both roller-blades and ice-skates? I was considering buying these because I primarily Rollerblade, and saved up for a long time to buy some decent roller-blades, but occasionally want to start ice skating; not enough to warrant buying expensive ice skates, but still. That's the void i see it filling. Any reason not to, or alternate option?

I actually have this in proper for my Powerslide inline skates where the whole chassis is replaced using a trinity mount. Works a charm.

Yeah those are crazy rockered, but if you know someone with a cnc machine you could make a version profiled like stock bauer steel and it would probably be pretty sick

I had this idea back in the 1970s. I played Ice Hockey and practiced skaitng on the carpet in my bedroom. I drew up a picture of wheels instead of my skate blades. This was way before roller blades were invented. I still have the dresser with hockey puck marks on it. It looks like those blades were too short for him.

Interesting, had some laughs, kind off a reverse of what I did long ago. When my microns wore out I had our proshop guy mount my roller blade chase onto my skates as back then when roller blades came out they where heavy a hell and the plastic boot just sucked. By switching out the boots they where still heave but much better to use. I remember trying a Hockey stop and wrapping my knee around a tennis net post.

The slightest height and pitch of any new skates always throws my balance off. Those must be crazy to balance on.

They can't be too much different. The blade holder on a pair of actual ice skates is roughly the same height from ice to boot bottom.

Every company has a different holder some longer or shorter than others and a slight difference on the pitch of there own stock blade if you buy bauers and your used to ccm skates then ya of course you are gonna feel off but every nhl player gets there skates profiled anyway so they aren’t using the way the stock blade comes, profiling is around 40$

Did you put a shim over your axle? The spacers that all of these ice blades come with are a larger diameter than the hi-lo axel's. I've had to install them on my FR1's instead of my Mission inhalers.

I have aggressive inline rollerblades, made for grinds and tricks. I'll stick with Bauer for ice skates.

I replaced the rivets in my hockey skates with screws so was able to quickly switch between blade holders and roller frames.

Rewatching 2024: the funny thing is if you've got 5 mins to be at the battery, you might make it there on your inlines but you sure as hell aren't making it to first period due to still having to set up your skates. XD And all that because they rivet the boot on. If those were screws, you could screw in the frame as a unit and be on your way. Also there is at least one official such product "Powerslide Trident Ice blade".

That's what I said. I thought these were done back in the late 90's. Esp back when roller blades where MEGA popular(yes there was a time when that was a thing)
