I worked at Costco for a really long time, nearly a decade, and I worked predominantly in the liquor store. The selection of alcohols changes pretty frequently due to the nature of alcohol frequently suffering shortages, but I don't think I've had a Kirkland alcohol that I thought was bad for the price. Also, last time I went to buy it they were out of spiced rum, and from everything I went through when we were out of any kirkland product, I don't blame any employee for being filled with hate everytime someone asks for a sold out product. People are vile as hell when mildly inconvenienced

Rules of thumb for MOST alcohol is "Smooth" equals age, which equals higher quality. Especially scotch, whisky

PSA: Vodka prices are very little to do with taste, and mostly just marketing. Unflavored vodka is just ethanol. Ethanol is ethanol, Grey Goose just charges you more so you feel better about yourself and your nice bottle.

Just so people know, Kirkland gets their products from a lot of big names- their batteries are Duracell, their m&ms are made by the same company, their vodka has been speculated to be made by Grey Goose, their coffee is roasted by Starbucks, ect So a lot of these items are just cheaper versions of the same stuff, just without the name branding

I never heard anyone say kirkland was "bad", it's just middle shelf at bottom shelf prices. Notoriously their vodka is literally exactly the same as grey goose (private labeling - same product with different label) for a third of the price. High shelf alcohol is the scam! it's the worst thing to splurge on

Edit: When I said “gets their alcohol from” I meant just that. Besides Grey Goose the other brands I mention just produce the Kirkland stuff. It’s not necessarily the exact recipe as the name brands! I did more research and their “French vodka” which is actually made In the same style as and nearby the Grey Goode distillery. Their “American Vodka” is made in California (and is noticeably worse, IMO). Their “Canadian Whisky” IS Crown Royal and the “Bourbon” is Dickel.

19:30 There’s also grocery store chain in Alaska called Three Bears. It is essentially the Alaskan Kirkland store. Every Three Bears in Alaska sells Kirkland products, at a marketplace cost, in a smaller grocery store venue. The reason? Costco only exists in two or three very large cities in Alaska. The rest of the communities can barely verify as small towns.
