I just find it so crazy that Riot just refuses to go and rent out a theater in Berlin to host the Finals for these splits at the least. Surely its not crazy hard or mega expensive to find a venue like or a bit smaller than The Fillmore Miami Beach that hosted LCS Spring finals in 2018. They genuinely just want to spend as little money as they can and it makes everything piss.

LEC is boring. I would love it if they stop with the splits and make just one big season with bo3s and breaks for internationals in between. And in the end a big ass double elim ko-stage with bo3, where each match would be a bo5 or something like that.

Yeah, I’ve been watching lec/old lcs for more than 10years now and this season especially, I can’t even watch 1 game.

When Faker retires, T1 NEEDS to find the BEST replacement asap, they can't afford to replace him with a rookies even if they say its for long term, because i think atleast 80% of T1 fans will still watch T1 after faker retire, but if Week 1 & 2 result are not good enough, they'll be a massive drop, if that happened, then league will actually started dying because fans and hate watchers are not excited to support or making fun of T1 anymore. Well unless GenG/other big team won Back to back worlds, and make Chovy/their superstar player essentially the new Faker, and started a new dynasty (for real this time)

The game has been figured out to such a high degree its physically impossible to get another faker. Lee sin R flash used to be insane mechanics and now silver players are expected to do it, the reality is chovy going 1 maybe 2 kills up in lane and 20cs up in a losing matchup is the biggest gap we will see between 2 world class players in todays league. No player is going to just demolish there lane opponent and take over big games like Faker locking in Riven for example or Shy doing some crazy new combo no one has ever seen. Everything has been figured out to the point its just a heavy heavy macro orientated game

The point about Faker's impact and retirement is very true. It's not just conjecture, the numbers prove that international viewership is in part tied to Faker & T1. What LoL needs is for another player to become not just the face of the LCK after Faker retires, but the face of the entire esport itself the way that he has become. Someone that will draw viewership from every region of the world. That is NOT going to be easy to accomplish for any player. The likeliest person to fill such a role is Chovy but he still has so much to prove and his current impact is not even what Faker's impact was as a mere rookie. Chovy needs more international victories and specifically he needs to win Worlds, and more than once. If he and GENG accomplish the Golden Road this year, that will be a HUGE boost for his stardom and potential to become "the next Faker". We'll just have to wait and see what happens this year.

With only 9 games per split. A lot of teams are playing to not loose and not to win. That make game quality bad. We're just getting format diff. But it's fine, the LEC commissioner is happy cause viewers are getting boosted by co streams + teams like KC/MDK. It's just sad

The way to save LEC is to remove the orgs with no fans and condense the good players into 8/6 teams and bring back the old format with BO3 and non-studio finals. This new format sounds good in theory but it is super boring in practice because it totally devalues winning a split. The old format may have been boring at times but the build up leading up to the playoffs and finals cannot be matched by this new format.

I like the LCK approach where its totally League focused w/o essentially pointing out 'El clasico' or whatever narrative (dont get me wrong, LCK has narratives too but I feel like LEC looks like a clown in comparison). Might be even more boring without those, thus change the actual format

Honestly, LEC and LCS should just semi-merge at this point. Do what baseball does and have a North American League and a European League, with the two best teams from each region competing for the championship and spots for worlds.

I mean, Tournaments are just a lot more fun when every player is, and HAS a personality. When you have a competiton where every player is a streamer, an entertainer, and have personality and character, being able to see Team Baus lose to Nemesis, and then watching Nemesis win from his perspective, all just makes for a MUCH better watch. It's a lot more entertaining than simply just watching the best teams in the world with a commentator or caster.

Riot set themselves up for failure by overhyping faker and not other players enough. Not enough investment in other star players means lolesports will die when faker retires.

The closest thing we had to faker recently was last split with milkygoat. But if he cant stay consistent he cant ever reach those kind of levels of exposure or viewership.

I had watched almost every game of lec for like 6 years now, now i just realized that i missed the first week and didnt even know that the games are happening, and then when i went to watch some of the games i just clicked it off and even have no idea wth is happening this split. Just everything is so boring now. Everything that Caedrel mentioned and for me also the fact that we are becoming na and every team just imports Koreans without trying. Sure nationalism can be a problem, but thats what makes almost every sport fun, and in this case i want to watch europeans succeed and not just koreans take over the league. It may sound racist, but my point has merit if you actually think about it. If i wanted to watch high quality league i would go and watch lck or lpl.

The LEC has not been hype for a while, 2018 2019 2020 was when it was at its most hype for me, and MAD winning in 2021 was also pretty cool being the first team in ages not named G2 and FNC not to win the split, but ever since then there's basically nothing to be hyped about, and when hype is potentially built up it gets crushed almost right away. Teams aren't exciting and often just outright bad, format is boring, we're a one team region now more than ever, no narratives. The LEC as a whole I feel has lost a lot of what made it unique and we're just watching 10 teams play with nothing really behind them.

Tbh for me at least the LPL's presentation to the global audience isn't that good, they stream half their games only on bilibili which alot of people don't use globally and when they do stream on KZfaq the production just blatantly isn't as good as lck's, lck has way better presentation to the global audience and the production feels more refined and enjoyable to watch. But that's just my opinion.

I think LEC is boring both because of the format but also because like 8/10 teams dont care about being good, they just want to appeal to domestic fans as much as possible. Sign players for national support (which I actually like in an open circuit but not in closed one), dont try to become the best possible and thusly push the entire region to be better, just focus on making content for youtube and shit. LEC's problem is that there is no more Perkz-Caps challenge-rivalry, no more FNC-G2 rivalry, no FNC Hyli-G2 Mikyx rivalry. And most of all the last fun caster was a famous rat. Now the casters are nototiously boring. They think that yelling is the only attention-attraction. Just listen to Quickshot's casts! The new casters are so booooring. I have been playing LOL and watching the LEC for more than 7 years and I knew by heart G2's games all the way from 2018 World G2-RNG to G2 2020, plus all Hyli's insane games, but now not only that I stopped watching the LEC but also stopped playing LOL. I am back to WOW classic. The only LEC content I watch is Caedrel's. Seriously.

Have to say, LEC team do not play to win. They have become so risk averse, it's boring to watch. And taking risky fights due to macro mistakes do not count. It feels like the players have either dumbed down or trainers/management only want to play the safest strats and completely disregard their own players' growth. Also, LEC have lost so many great casters. I'd prefer see the LEC in someone's basement again if it meant legit hype and team with players who care to grow and don't have to fear losing their next paycheck. It's a horrible state to be, specially for young people.

Lec has gone down the drain with the new format. Bo1s 4 splits sucks. On top of that half the production has been laid off, and it feels like people left just dont have the passion left. On top of that...the teams just...look noticably worse all around. G2 is all thats left but even theyre suffering because theres no competition and their level of play suffers from the stagnation as well. And they shouldny have ever let quickshot go. Who gives a fuck if he made some dumbass 50 year old salute. I get it was in poor taste but its an esports organization and it wouldnt have hurt their revenue to suspend him and keep him after like. Classes for behavioral therapy or whatever theyd call it. The league just has no heart left.
