Hello all, this is a quick Sunday vlog as I have a terrible case of man flu!. I went to Leeds top rated fish & chip shop - Portside on Kirkstall Road. Then I went for a walk around Kirkstall Abbey and a look around Abbey House Museum.

Welcome to my Channel,
My name is James and I live full time in my tiny van, however this is not just a van life channel. I enjoy travel, food and drink and making videos 🙂
When I turned 50 I decided I’d had enough of the rat race and working long hours just to pay rent and bills, life was passing me by and I needed a drastic change.
FAQ
Where is Helen?
Helen has a responsible full time job and two children so unfortunately she can’t join me on every trip. I really wish she could.
What equipment do you use?
My vlogging camera is a GoPro Hero 9 but I also use my pixel 6a phone and Lumix G80 camera for other footage
For editing, I used Premiere Pro on an old laptop but I’m saving to buy a more powerful computer.
Do you have children?
Yes I have a 6yr old daughter who lives with her mum but I see her quite a lot. I don’t usually put her on the vlogs and if I do, I block out her face for privacy reasons. I also have a grown up son.
How do you fund your lifestyle?
I don’t need as much to live these days since going full time van life but I receive a small percentage of income from the ads that KZfaq put on the videos.
Why the sponsored videos?
I only accept sponsorship from companies I use and trust, this is my fulltime job and my income, it’s how I support my family. (I have Patreon if you prefer videos with no ads).

You did well to get to the end of that vlog James...we all have days when we just not feeling it....but you still have to go front of camera and put on a brave face! Your sense of humour was alive and well though thank goodness...it was immune from the attack of the old man flu!🤣

Hi James, I 've just started watching this video & laughed my head off. I had to rewind & start watching again from the beginning to show my hubby. When you said you had man flu & had eaten nothing but chicken soup his face lit up & he said "See I told you chicken soup helps" . I've always took the mick & laughed when he asks for it when he has man flu or feels unwell. He's now sat here with a big grin on his face 😂. Hope you're feeling a lot better soon. We both really enjoy watching your channel , hubby even more so now he's apparently right & I've now been proven wrong 😂

The cherry blossom tree was magnificent hope you are soon on the mend truly loved the video it had everything 10 out of 10 Leeds is a wealth of culture on so many levels. The fish and chips looked a treat …….. the mushy pea 🫛 on your jumper was a chuckle. Leeds as so much to see the river that runs under the city. The sculpture Park, Leeds Armoury but to name a few.

The thing about fish and chips in Yorkshire ( and maybe in some other areas) but definitely in Yorkshire is that they are usually fried in beef dripping...this means the fat can get to a much higher temperature and this makes the chips not greasy and the batter very crispy...

Tip Of The Week: Save yourself the red faces when out exploring in a pea-bedecked hoodie, and buy yourself a green coloured clip-on microphone. That way you're always hooked up and can pass off any spillage as audio equipment.

Me and my mate from Stoke worked for the Leicester branch of Seddon's painters. They had us go to Leeds in the late 90's to paint a bunch of council houses, we made some great money. The folk there were great, cups of tea when we showed up and quite often at the very least we had a bacon sarnie for breakfast from the locals. We were amazed how cheap and good the fish and chips were. I also remember blagging my way into a workies with my painters overalls on , I am sure it was a PO union bar,?? when I got in in, the place was packed, but everyone in there looked at me like "who the bleep are you: All said and done, Leeds folk were the salt of the earth. James, I would love you and Helen to spend more time in the pub and do real ale reviews. I am sure Helen is up for this. Regardless, I love your vlog, but I would prefer to see you both out on the lash more. Why because you are far more relaxed and Helen feeds off that. love you both. With you all the way!

@@bythecurb By the way James, my home town, Uttoxeter, is not that far from Barnsley . You and Helen would love it, plenty of pubs, friendly locals and go there on a weekend when there's a horse racing meeting you will have a blast. I would say it's an hour and half from Barnsley. Not only that 30 minutes from there in any direction you will a blast.

Just a tip that I learned during the 'vid' period.. if you can find a can of saline spray at the pharmacy or grocery store, spray up your nose a few times a day.. it will help you get better faster. works like a charm!
