Lincoln Riley said he couldn't recruit at Oklahoma... Turns out he can't recruit at USC either. Clay had some good recruiting at USC before Lincoln Riley got there. BV is recruiting top 10 and top five classes at Oklahoma. Somehow someway he gets beat at recruiting. Other schools are able to bring up his defense... He's going to have to pay top dollar if he wants to recruit high quality defensive players

Riley was one hell of a offensive coordinator, no doubt. We were regressing each year with him as a head coach. He might be better suited as a nfl coach, or maybe go back to being a offensive coordinator. Just my opinion.

When Kirby got to Georgia, they had trouble signing elite D-lineman, due to a lack of proven development in the Richt regime. Once he hired Tray Scott and started showing real development and putting people in the league, recruiting got a lot easier. LR will have to follow the same steps if he wants to succeed, but his coaching career up to this point doesn't bode well.

I mean the problem with USC is that they will never recover from what they are right now until they can somehow find a way to out recruit Oregon in California. that’s not gonna happen anytime soon, though because the stronghold that Oregon has because of lanning in California is just getting stronger and lanning is actually expanding his net of these high quality recruits and starting to take some of them from the south on top of completely dominating California. Plus with Oregon and their NIL reach on top of continuing to do great in football. It’s just gonna get harder, especially having to recruit in the Big Ten now where you’re probably not gonna be a top dog.

I disagree. Lincoln will always have a tier 1 offense because of his great track record. Defense is the biggest hurdle but now being in the Big10 more defensive recruits will give USC a second look. Our new DC will have us better next year and we will win recruits over Oregon/Washington. Eventually we will get the Southern recruits once the defense improves with the new DC as well just will take more time.

@@mindyourbusiness1934 I don’t know where you’re getting this delusion where you’re just going out recruit Oregon. Oregon has been dominating the recruits in California for multiple years now. You understand that USC is losing recruits not gaining them right? I also don’t understand why you talked about Washington when they are not recruiting power. Yeah, it’s true. USC might get a little bit better in their defensive recruiting, but they’re not gonna change around the fact that Oregon is the team in California recruiting wise. You can say after this year you will get better defensive recruits, but USC doesn’t want to spend as much money as Oregon does and they’re not gonna be as successful as Oregon is. It has been a problem for USC for a bit. Also, USC has nothing to offer to tell recruits defensive recruits specially with recent track record to go to USC over Oregon and that’s just the truth.

I think one of the biggest problems is LA is a mess right now. Besides being huge, the homelessness and crime is out of control. It’s not a safe city/place. The word is out on that. If you’re a top college football prospect, do you really want to go to a campus in a bad area in a city that’s out of control and dangerous in so many ways? Where stores and restaurants are closing right and left. Where organized gangs of thieves are hitting them up regularly? Where they are not arrested or prosecuted? If you’re from another place not like that, do you want to go to college in the midst of that when you can pick somewhere else?

Lincoln Riley is part of the problem: he seems to think that having a defense is having a good offense. He doesn't seem to understand the purpose of a defensive squad, and certainly failed to put together respectable defenses at Oklahoma and USC, both marquee programs. He's not just losing recruits to Georgia, he's losing them to Wisconsin. Why? His defense was ranked below Bowling Green last year.

Guys…. Let’s give it some time here lol USC has to show results on the field before they can secure the top recruits. These kids grew up watching mediocre play from USC… the good teams growing up for them are Ohio State, Alabama, Clemson, and Georgia. Plus, LR got embarrassed last year and it seems to me like he’s trying to change the narrative. So let’s pump the brakes and give it some time.

LR has been getting embarrassed since before Covid. The whole "give him some time" thing has been said about him since 2018. He kept running out of excuses for having so much talent fall flat on the field, so he blamed OU and ran away. He doesn't know anything about defense and his offenses are getting stale, that's why even Big 12 defenses shut LR and Caleb Williams down before they moved to an easier conference. Some NFL media said he was sniffing around for openings recently too. You better believe he's already halfway out the door

It just comes down to the performance of this team. He needs to show improvements as a whole with being way better than last year and his assistants he still has on staff from the last 2 years being way better. If this team doesn't produce better results, 2025 will be the year he is on the hottest seat, and Jen Cohen won't have issues parting ways with him because she wasn't the one that hired him. Mike Bohn hired him and then left, so it is critical for him to show major improvements, or else USC is having to look for a new head coach. During the Clay Helton era, I talked about so much that USC should hire a defensive minded coach because not only guys like Smart and Saban were winning titles, but Pete was the last defensive minded coach to win a title for USC. I wasn't happy that the program was constantly hiring offensive minded coaches like Sark, Kiffin, and Helton because they were bad at their job and all got fired because of it. If Lincoln is not the answer, then USC has to get a defensive minded coach. I had Brent Venables on my top list for replacing Clay Helton, given how he saw with his own eyes in person the beatdown he saw in the 2004 national championship

Recruiting to Los Angeles is not the same anymore. You can make money anywhere now. It’s the same problem the Los Angeles Lakers have the last several years when trying to get another superstar to the team. The Dodgers can do it because they have know salary cap. Also LA likes winning; if you’re not, people become uninterested and do a gajillion other things here; unlike those boring small towns throughout the South. Football is the ONLY thing to do. Why is that always overlooked?

Like the Taylor Swift song... Lincoln Riley is the problem. Imagine LR singing... I should not be left to my own devices They come with prices and vices I end up in crisis I wake up screaming from dreaming **One day, I'll watch as you're leaving** 'Cause you got tired of my scheming It's me, hi **I'm the problem, it's me** The sad thing is, LR is a blamer. Always has been always will be. He always blames something or someone else. He did it at OU, he does it at USC. This egomaniac has no self perspective and always sees the problems as someone or something else's, but never due to himself. He has no accountability. For this reason, he will always, ALWAYS ultimately fail. He is a smart enough offensive mind to win a lot of games when against inferior opponents and at a powerhouse blue-blood program that recruits itself. But he can not motivate a fly to eat honey. He's a giver-upper when things get hard. Lastly, he lacks the ability to make half-time or in-game adjustments. If he doesn't plan for something and faces a change-up, he's screwed. He sometimes makes weird decisions that baffle the mind. Look at the one playoff game he was in, with one of the greatest offenses of all-time, talent/skill wise. He does a squib kick with seconds remaining in the half, despite having a kicker who consistently kicked it 10 yards out of the back of the end zone all year. He blamed this on someone else. Next, same game, with a huge lead right before that, in the 2nd half Georgia made adjustments and he could never adjust back and counter-punch. Once the momentum piled up, he literally quit mentally. Just watch him on the sideline at that game, even when he still had the lead in the 2nd half but all the momentum was against him. He literally quit before he was even behind. That tells you everything. A quitter, a giver-upper and a blamer. USC's prestigious program deserves better.

LR is playing a dangerous game of recruiting nationwide elite caliber, by selling future success. It's difficult to sell high school kids futures when they are hearing pitches by elite programs with proven success or getting checks from Nike University. USC needs California talent (3 or 4 star), spend where needed, but most importantly, get W's this year. W's, strung together in the second half of the season demonstrate player development.

I'm an USC fan always have been always will be so let me put some incite on it. Riley had an dream opportunity to bring this program back to powerhouse status but the first mistake he made & it was a big one was bringing Grinch out here with him. Lincoln had all the momentum, the buzz was there, you could not ask for more positive energy & hype around the program & he goes & brings a proven dump truck of a defense coordinator with him. That right there was a blown opportunity & a massive dumb move. Everyone knows your gonna get the offensive recruits but you got to have a solid D & what he did not only cost us defensive recruits but offensive recruits as well & then he keeps Grinch for another year my god that is just incompetence. Also he's going all over the country to get recruits but cant pull hardly any elite players from inside the state. USC is not just a team historically known for offense it has always produced top defensive talent Tim McDonald, Troy Polamalu, Clay Matthews, Jr Suau, Willie McGinest, & Ronnie Lott just to name a few there is no reason with USC history we should not have recruits lining up to play here. On top of all that last year we had good Running back & tight ends that could move the ball but instead of using them in a balanced way Riley would go to passing the long ball on first downs & manageable yardage situations instead of keeping the short & the ground game moving when it was working. It was almost like was he favoring trying to get Caleb a second Heisman ahead of running a balanced offense. Running backs will come to USC if YOU RUN THE BALL at one time USC was called Tail Back U for a reason. Well Salute to Riley to his credit he has finally gone out this year & gotten very solid competent defensive coaches so I credit him for that but this team could have keep a lot of key players & recruited a lot better & been in a better position right now if he had left Grinch at home & recruited better in state & done these moves to bring in top defensive coaching earlier when the fire was blazing. Now I'm just hoping he can turn this ship around. To Riley's credit there is & has been something wrong with USC's collective not being in place properly & possibly something with the boosters regarding the NIL which I think is out of Riley & the other coaches hands & I highly suspect it has also been a major issue that is causing USC problems with recruiting that we should not have & that should have been properly put in place from the beginning that is a mess. Their are some issues that need to get addressed and fixed if USC is going to return to the powerhouse it was. There is no reason the university known as the pipeline to the NFL should be in this position. Jus Sayn

As an OU fan I felt bad for SC. I've never disliked the Trojans and still don't. No program deserves an LR. We wanted him to get rid of Grinch too so when LR took him to LA we celebrated because it meant we could shoot for Venables. For a while it seemed like LR was keeping Grinch around as a scapegoat and seemed like much the same in LA. However, LR finally making defensive changes doesn't make me think he's learned anything or has grown. He made changes at OU that made things worse. Like getting rid of a terrific strength coach to replace him with a glorified yoga instructor, which in turn made the players softer and easier to blow off the ball at the line of scrimmage. He kept bringing in questionable assistants that were more yes men than competent coaches. He isn't the type to challenge himself to get better. He wants compliance and obedience to feed his ego. Which is why you aren't the only one that noticed he was more worried about Caleb's 2nd Heisman than he was winning games. Because HIS legacy takes precedent for HIS next job. He knows a 2nd Heisman would have been good insurance for when he gets run out of LA too. For the future of SC, I hope the Big 10 crushes LR so a coach that actually cares about building a program can take over

LR can’t recruit. We suffered through it at Oklahoma. He blames geography for his failures at Oklahoma and I believed him when he said it would be easier to recruit of west. Clearly not. The same Riley! Only regressing with each and every year.

College recruiting is about the money So until SC fines some boosters or big corporations to buy players for them They’re gonna have a rough time. Hell some college player are better than some of the staff . I remember when college was about a education and if you played football or baseball or basketball or track field scholarship for an education or

@ruffinoandjoeshow it wouldn't surprise me if parents are trying to use their kid as a way out with NIL, I think coaching at usc is career suicide with the current climate out there.

Do your research on Lincoln Riley and local recruiting. He’s NOT offering local Kids unless they come and workout for him while he watches!!! Don’t believe me? Do some digging on this and you’ll find out

It doesn’t even matter. The main problem is USC‘s NIL package Lincoln didn’t want to use the money on transfer portal guys for this year‘s team which screws over this season so he can use that money on these recruits who just Decommitted and then now there’s words going around that USC is collective is afraid that they don’t have enough money to even afford Julian Lewis and so I don’t know what the hell USC is doing also for the past five years. Kids have been picking Oregon over USC in a heartbeat. They’ve been picking Ohio State Alabama, Texas other teams over USC and since the NIL have started it’s even worse USC is getting outbid for all these kids and some of these kids are using USC so they can get leverage for more money

you know I see this trash on you tube and here is what I will yet once more say on thye subject. For years Winkie wriley lost start dl and lb and secondary talent at ou, yeah we got some b had a haul of wr and only 1 was worth their weight. Why are Sooner fans so very supportive of Coach Venebles becuase it feels genuinely Oklahoma, that means OU will be back in a big way. Build a culture and be real works for all succesful coaches, Bud, Barry, Bob, and next up Brent. You must change the culture but as a coach you must be sincere and approachable to the athlete just Like Patty Gasso, Like Barry Switzedr, Like Bud Wilkinson, Bennie Owens, Our Mens Gymnastics and womens gymnastics coaches, we can go back to Billy Tubbs. Mark Williams Mens Gymnastics coach... He raises the level at which his athletes compete, and they win. K.J. Kindler same thing what an incredible coach she is... it is about the culture the desire to run through a wall for their coach. Jennie Baranczyk the Lady Sooner softball team has shown she has that right recipe down as well. I hated how Lincoln left but IO was unhappy with him when Houston out physicaled and beat OU and the next week Ohio State Embarassed us. Winkie is a fraud, he coaches football worst than how he grills a BBQ ands that is ugly.
