anything he's done/will do will always be clouded by the amount he gives to charity, because people seem to have this idea in their heads that you can't be a bad person in any way whatsoever if if you donate to charity

Agree, I feel like the homophobic/transphobic stuff he got called out for would be a WAY bigger deal if it was any other creator. If someone that is well hated like Shane Dawson or Gabbie Hannah had tweeted those things people would jump on them so quickly, in fact people HAVE jumped on them for similar "harmless" tweets and jokes.

I'm not crazy Mr Beast fan but he is an absolute angel for his philanthropy. He doesn't just give to charity he literally also runs charities. Big difference. And also literally all the allegations against him are from word of mouth or have just been disproven or are straight up stupid arguments. But hey he's gonna continue adding value to the world and helping others while we argue in comments sections. So maybe let's focus on doing the same?

I don't agree that credit should be considered as a bonus. As a content creator of any form, that being either the host of a YT video, an editor, an artist, or any other job to do with this, credit should be something that is agreed upon within a contract, but not a bonus. People always make it out that you are going to go famous from getting credit, meanwhile most people don't even seem to care, let alone look in the 'show more' bit of a description. Now if Mr. Beast or whomever does not want to give credit, or the creator does not want to be mentioned or have credit given, this could all be fine, but all in all, it should be discussed. It being a bonus makes it sounds like you're getting paid by exposure, but we all know exposure ain't worth a lot unless its negative.

The fact that he refused to even give a simple apology for his past homophobia and transphobia is very telling, for me anyway. Like, how hard would it have been to just say sorry and move on? Instead he decided to use excuses. Just because "it was a meme" or "it was a different time back then" doesn't make it ok, nor does it mean that it doesn't negatively affect people. It wouldn't surprise me at all to find out that Jimmy is a total bigot behind closed doors, and only holds it back to protect his public image as KZfaq's new Golden Boy. I also find it really weird that he runs a burger joint and heavily invests into cryptocurrency and NFTs, yet he also claims to care about the environment. It's just a bit strange and counter-intuitive imo. I also find it really annoying that you're not allowed to criticize him online at all without his fans hate mobbing you. They'll spam you with crap like "yOu'Re JuSt JeAlOuS oF HiS mOnEy!!1!!!" or "YoU'Re A cLoUtChAsEr, yOu'Re OnLy PoStInG ThIs CaUsE hE HaS mOrE SuBs ThAn YoU!!1!!!" or of course the ever popular "BuT JiMmY's A gOoD PeRsOn, He DonAtEs To ChArItY!!1!!! WhAt HaVe YoU DoNaTeD???????". I mean, to be fair, the vast majority of his fans are children so this sort of behavior is to be expected. That doesn't make it any less obnoxious tho. His fanbase, and many other people online for that matter, just can't even begin to comprehend that someone can donate to charity and still be a bad person. It's cool that donates so much to charity, but I still greatly dislike him as a content creator and as a human being. I just don't think that he's as good of a person as he'd like us all to believe he is. Sure he may not be nearly as bad as some other people online, but he's also nowhere near the best. His fans would have you believe that Jimmy is the second coming of Jesus Christ, but that's just not the truth at all.

I think that these issues are so minute compared to what other KZfaqrs do. Like other KZfaqrs legit lie, scam, or even have predatory behavior toward their fans and they don't even have as big of a following as Mr.Beast. at the end of the day that's just deflection tho. does the fact that other YTers are doing worse make the homophobia go away or not exist? no. if "no one cares" abt it anymore, how hard is it to apologize for things that may have had good intentions or were funny at the time, but we now recognize as homophobic? I wouldnt think it's very hard. If someone has grown and recognizes homophobia for what it is, bigotry, they shouldn't have a problem w simply saying they previously did anything bad and regret it but would like to move on. the Sunny in Philadelphia creators are great examples of this, when prev episodes get brought up they don't defend that other shows have done worse - they just say oh no we wouldn't do that today we know better now.

@@duresh08 thank you for saying that, i genuinely appreciate it. and i understand where you're coming from, but living as a trans person who has run into these types of people time and time again it's hard to believe someone has changed when they don't actively show it. sure, he hasn't said that kind of stuff recently (that we know of), but telling someone that "nobody cares" about homophobic/transphobic "jokes" and not showing any sign of remorse just doesn't sit right with me. so many people will claim they "aren't like that anymore" (which, afaik, jimmy hasn't even done that) but then be incredibly disrespectful and homophobic/transphobic to their private circles. seeing this over and over again it's really hard to trust that someone has changed without it being shown also, i won't disregard contributions he's made - he's done a lot of good, but he's also done a lot of bad. people aren't black and white & i understand that, it's just a personal thing for me as my life and the lives of thousands of people like me was affected and made harder by the popularization of those jokes because of him.

Mr. Beast’s content rubs me the wrong way, although he has only gotten on my radar in the last couple years. It’s for a similar reason I never got into the “vlog squad” - it isn’t grounded in reality enough, and feels insincere. I understand that David Dobrik has a backlog of terrible, overtly offensive content that is only being called out now because it’s no longer socially acceptable. And I know I partially never got into them because, as a brown girl, I didn’t feel welcome in that space. But I do think there are still a lot of parallels: Mr. Beast probably has a similarly young/male audience as David (hence why he’s hard to cancel unless something huge happens), he throws around large sums of money “generously”, people that used to work with them have conflicting stories as to how toxic he is…it just feels so “nice guy”. Like, you don’t have to throw that you’re a nice, generous person in our face…you could just *be* a nice, generous person. And I can’t help but think nice, generous people would own when they’ve been assholes in the past…you have all that money - address your bad behavior and donate generously to the Trevor Project. Red flags are going up. And I’ve dated enough mediocre men to pay attention when it happens.

Nothing at all, aside from one person who clickbait the title. And still the same, even now. All you guys said are just speculation. MrBeast is a millionaire, he is not a mediocre man. If you see his old videos he is OBSESSED with research to get into the top of KZfaq. So obsessed I recall getting shiver watching the crazy amount of researches he did in the past. I think he doesn't really have ill intentions when it comes to this stuff, but he's an adult man with a lot of influence so he should at least put certain things more into consideration. As in "Is this linked to a serious major issue?" - "Will it negatively influence a lot of people?" - "Will this hurt people physically and mentally?" It's not about the "People will get offended by this" thing, if people want to be angry, they will always be people that will be angry. There will always be people with sometimes specific triggers that are maybe not as common as others and you can't make something perfect but it's not about "Cancel culture", saying that certain things are triggering to a, unfortunately, big group of people is supposed to bring awareness and maybe make people a little bit more empathatic and sensitive to certain topics.

The video about him not eating should honestly not be a problem. I understand that some of his behavior can be triggering, but he was very clear throughout the video that this shouldn’t be done without strict supervision by a doctor and he was only doing it to monitor his health as I believe he has Crohn’s disease. And he spit the food out after he ate it upon the recommendation of his doctors not to have the first thing he eats when reintroducing food to be something carb-heavy, which a burger would be. Some people took the video as a great way to lose weight but that’s 100% not what his intention was. Also the Mr Beast Burger issue is sort of a common issue with ghost kitchen restaurants. Quality varies depending on who’s preparing the order. The only thing Jimmy is actually responsible for is the menu and it may not be great, but that isn’t a cancellable offense.

Here's the thing, people really tried to get JAMES GUNN fired for "offensive jokes" and he got reinstated so that's how I know "cancel culture" is just a bunch of virtue signaling. There's always going to be this DISCONNECT between gen z and Millennials/past generations I think because one people wanna overcorrect the past which is understandable, and two they just WON'T understand (this is shown when people on TikTok yelled at Trisha for cosplaying as Snooki like COME ON bro that's screaming tell me your age without telling me your age) what the internet was like back in the day, how people spoke, what they were like cause it WAS a different TIME and that's okay. YELLING at the people who spoke a certain way back in the day with "THAT'S NO EXCUSE TIME ISN'T AN EXCUSE" does nothing to solve the issue. Learning is what solves the issue. The reason why we don't really say "that's so gay" now? Because people LEARNED and LISTENED. Rather than just yelled at each other like you see now. You need to let the PEOPLE who are the TARGETS of the words SPEAK for THEMSELVES and don't speak FOR THEM. That just does nothing.

The problem is that people aren’t taking responsibility of their past. For those kind of ‘jokes’ to be acceptable back then, it means it was a common mindset. It takes effort to recognize those mistakes and change. If people with huge platforms just keep those ‘jokes’ on their profile, then they probably haven’t even thought about why they were offensive. Its hard to change when you don’t even notice what you did wrong. It’s the internet, people can easily look through their account and delete if they don’t want a post to represent them, otherwise it’s fair to judge them especially if they profit off a large internet following. I don’t know why people keep blaming it on a ‘different time’. Yeah, it was common to have edgy offensive humor back then. But why is it still on your current account 10 years later? Why do people expect forgiveness without putting in the work? In mr beasts case he didn’t even bother with an apology. So yeah, he can totally judged for those comments he made back then cause he doesn’t think he did anything wrong. This whole exposing past offensive jokes has been a thing for around five years, if influencers and celebrities still don’t know what’s on their accounts then they just aren’t being responsible with their platforms and that’s a problem when they make money off of social media

Hey Angelika. Great video! I gotta admit that I haven't been feeling your content lately but I love this alot. You were really concise and straight to the point with the situation and your commentary and I really liked that. If it'd be possible, I'd appreciate it if you did long form content once in a while. Like taking a topic, researching it and making a detailed video on it. I saw Petty Paige's recent content style and I've been loving it and I'm sure if you did something similar to that but in your own style and with your personality, it'd do really great. Just a suggestion though. The drama commentary space isn't what it used to be and many people are losing interest on those topics (JC, JS, Shane, Gabbi, Tati etc) so perhaps pivoting your content away from drama and more towards commentary would be great. Like for instance, there was this stuff with Big Brother and racist microaggressions on the show so maybe you could do some research and make a video about say racism on reality TV or something of the sort. It'd cost time and require a lot of energy but I believe pivoting your content a little would help you bring in much more audience. It's just a thought though. Regardless, this was a great video ❤️

I'm going to ignore the rest, but for the last bit, triggering is mostly the responsibility of those who can be triggered by things. I've never had an ED but it's a very physically uncomfortable subject for me to here about as like a current thing that is taking place, so i read that title and scrolled away. I think if Mr beast used a vague title and just sprung things on viewers then that would be more problematic. The title is the trigger warning, just because it doesn't say Trigger Warning doesn't mean you weren't advised about the contents of the video.

You can healthily live off of a liquid diet for a reasonable amount of time. I don't watch Mr. Beast so I don't know what diet he was going by in the 30 day/no eat challenge. But when I was in the hospital with pancreatitis & diabetic ketoacidosis, they put me on a clear liquid diet. And I was there for a week. Like I was able to have broth, clear-ish juice (such as apple juice), jello (which I didn't eat bc the texture makes me gag), sherbet, popsicles, etc. With that said, I'm not backing him up for what he did or anything like that. I genuinely have no opinion on him as I do not watch him. But clearly he went about it the wrong way if there is backlash. I just wanted to put it out there that you CAN healthily go on a "liquid diet" and still have energy, be healthy, etc. if you are doing it for health improvement reasons. You just have to look it up and make sure you are accessing every food/drink that is under what is allowed for a liquid diet, as clearly some foods are not purely liquid (i.e popsicles) but still count.

Him brushing off the "attack helicopter" meme as just a meme makes me think hes still transphobic bc bro i knew that shit was inappropriate when it was popping off n i was like 14 surely u as a grown ass man can look back on that n realize it was super transphobic n apologize for it instead of saying it was just a meme n also the use of slurs n no formal apology for it is a major red flag like even w an apology as a queer person i would be hesitant but ur really gonna be saying the f slur w ur whole ass chest n pretend it didnt happen....

I just have no interest in Mr. Beast. I think the videos and projects are largely just gimmicky. However I don’t see him as risky or mortally/ethically dubious like David Dobrik. Overall it seems like his responses to his mistakes/controversies are plausible that and that the missteps were innocent… it’s great he donates to charities, I just don’t feel the desire to support him or watch his content…

But then again a CEO of a supermarket and KZfaq job isn’t ran the same way. A supermarket CEO doesn’t get online and talk to them and tell them they love them and play off the emotions and honestly banking on the fact a viewer does feel connected to them. You said he called them out to hangout with him also. Sounds like he made a call to who his viewers? On his platform?

Good reporting of both sides in the video. But some allegations are so stupid I cannot. In the fasting video he literally says verbatim not to try it and actively discourages it and shows the negative effects. So how is he promoting EDs exactly? And the proceeds from the squid games video (and literally all his other videos) go towards his charities and his future videos. Twitter is so fucking dumb istg The amount of philanthropy this man has done is to be commended and he has shown time and time again that he is a good person in the public eye. He deserves everything he has ❤️

Mr. Beast is hypocritical in the way most people are when it comes to the environment. It's just disappointing and sad to see someone with such a large platform being this way. Animal agriculture is known for destroying the environment. Yet he continues to sell meat in his fast food chain and was even sponsered by dairy at one point. People don't like it when others call him out for this tho because most people eat factory farmed meat...

Some of the most hateful people I know are also the most charitable. I don't know if it's the same case with Mr. Beast, but in the case of the people I know, they're so charitable because they can then go be as awful as they want and point to the good things they've done when they're called out for the shit things they've done. It's just a tool they use to manipulate people.

The spitting the food out with him probs wasn’t to do with eating disorders as a symptom of crohns is vomiting and having a lack of appetite which can cause a sort of disgust towards food s him splitting the food out is natural for his disease. That being said I still don’t agree with the video but as someone with Crohn’s myself sometimes we can forget that simple things like spitting food out could contribute someone else’s eating disorder. But overall the video was bad idea anyway

I watch a lot of Mr beast videos and I have suffered with eating disorders and Imo he should have maybe put a tigger warning but in my experience people will ignore warnings to purposely trigger themselves so i’m not sure if that would have helped much, it’s a tricky situation cause he has young fans that might not know about anorexia and that could be the first time they are introduced to it, I think he 100% shouldn’t have said how much weight he was losing
