I have to decide now. One thing I did confirm was the digitial Knit is only available in the US which is total bs. Why only the US gets this? SO I will have to get the FErn with no digital knit.

I've got fern and it's silent when you upgrade the noisy wobbling hand rests. Take them out from the chair base sleeves (you need to push from the bottom) and then insert a small plastic (1,5-2mm thick) in between the sleeves and the arm rest inserts to fill the gap. You can also use a duck tape to tighten the inserts because they are from 2 parts so you could take the arm rests out but since they are not tight the whole arm rests are wobbly and noisy. When you duck tape the two parts together the arms rests are then sturdy and make no noise. If you have lumbar and it starts to make squeaking noises you need to take the fabric down then the front mesh then the lumbar pillow and then you put some vaseline on the metal moving parts of the lumbar. Then you put everything back together and it's like new.

I ended up buying the fern in Australia from officeworks priced around 1000 AUD. Unfortunately, they are selling garbage here. To save on cost they are selling basic model. The handles squeak like there are rats living in it and they are fixed (Not 4D). No lumbar support either. The worst part is the gas lift. Everytime I sit on it, it will be fine, but all of a sudden it sinks by half an inch with a jerk - Super annoying. I asked officeworks to switch the chair for me and they gladly did. The second chair has the same problem. Pathetic quality control. The 10$ used chair I picked up from FB market seems better built. Unfortunately due to lack of good ergonomic chairs in the market, I am going to have to keep it.

I went on a little tour of Herman miller, Haworth and Steel Series. I'm 6'1 (186cm), broad. - Zody feels too small - Aeron size C felt PERFECT - Embody felt good, but seat was lacking in comfort compared to the Aeron - Mirra was not good overall, worse than both Embody and Aeron - Fern felt great, BUT... if you're tall, you will need to pull out the seat to lengthen the base. This leaves a little gap at the back of the chair, and it's noticeably annoying/uncomfortable having a 3 inch gap at the back of the seat where your bum is supposed to be. Shame because other than that the quality and comfort of the chair was insane. - leap v2 was good but didn't overtake Aeron Overall gonna get the Aeron. The size C was insanely comfortable, many functions (more than fern), fully adjustable back, smooth rocking, perch function (good if you're an illustrator like me). They say it can support up to 350lbs but there is no way the seat wont be completely stretched. THEY ALSO WONT RESPOND TO MY EMAILS ABOUT A RETURN. I requested a return within the 30 day period and HM didnt respond until I messaged a week later, also within the 30 day period. They told me they'd send me a shipping label (I told them I needed a label and a box) and they havent sent me anything 2 months later and they wont respond to my emails or take calls from my phone number. Hey guys, I'm looking for a really good chair, but I can't decide between Fern (Dig knit. lumbar, no headrest), Embody, and Aeron (Size C, fully loaded), already tried all of them for a very short period of time, like 20minutes, no trial period around my area sadly, so gotta stick with my first choice. I'm 6'4", 245lbs, sit pretty normal, pretty standard height proportions. Having some mild lumbar pain recently, I think my chair can't hold me anymore, my actual posture is really bad. Hi, I've been watching your videos for a good few months now and you guys present some good information. But for the life of me I can't seem to understand why these plastic ergonomic chairs are recommended over the executive style leather chairs? The build quality and comfort seems so lackluster for the price to quality ratio vs a really nice executive chair retailing for just over 500$. Alot of those same chairs offer lumbar and ergonomic features as well? Is there a reason you never address them that I have missed?
@StardustLegacyFighter
@StardustLegacyFighter Жыл бұрын
If you knew anything about proper high-end office chairs, you'd know that they have the best build quality in the industry. Unlike those totally superficial leather executive chairs, these ergonomic chairs are packed with multiple ergonomic adjustments, and are specifically meant for tasking. Leather executive chairs are pretty much meant to look good, and only be comfortable for short periods of time, some may come with lumbar support, but it's usually pretty terrible. They don't have any ergonomic adjustments, e.g. seat depth adjustment, and they won't be appropriate for long hours of work. In terms of build quality, almost all the materials used by these high-end ergonomic chairs are amazing, ranging from the foam/mesh to the frame. Just because there's plastic on these chairs, it doesn't mean it's the same cheap and nasty plastic you find on much cheaper office chairs. For well reputable brands like Herman Miller, Steelcase, and Haworth, the warranty is provided is 12 years, rated for 24/7 use. Don't get me wrong, I love the look and feel of those executive leather chairs too (my favourite is the Interstuhl 362S), but they're not intended to be ergonomic.

I had to sent 3 chairs back already, because they were very loud squeaking (recline function makes noise like an 50 year old chair from my already dead grandma..), the backrest did not fit good (you get them in 2 parts here, not fully assembled). Hoping the fourth chair is acceptable but it is getting depressing. Obviously beside that, i like the chair but i think, i will give up after the fourth try... in addition to that issue the Support just send me New chairs, i asked them more than one time, if i can repair it by myself. But no answer to that, just a new label for sending it back. The fourth time... It is absolutely ridiculous experience for such an expensive chair. At this point, they should just gift it to me... I think the Aeron's forward tilt is better than Fern's because the back comes with you. So, you still get that nice back support whereas the Fern acts more like a perching stool with the back staying in the same spot. Could still be really useful for people that like to perch but some people may expect it to be like the Aeron. I should probably talk about this a bit more when mentioning the Fern but honestly, I never use the function, so it isn't really a focus for me when making these videos. -Ryan

I really thought the fern would be the one but I’m back to searching as I just can’t justify that price. Can anyone recommend a chair from $500-$900?

As someone who bought a Haworth (Zody because I didn't see the Fern at the time, but I prefer executive style chairs), did anyone else have any issues with UK stores? It came on offer (they only offer base models with no customisation), but with mismatched wheels, a nut missing, and damage to the box and it's meant I can't assemble it, while their customer support is impossible to get in touch because they haven't answered any emails.

@@xPlasmaz The seat and base is, the back you have to slot in and secure yourself with a bolt and a nut. Seeing the differences between what is available on the US websites for companies like Haworth, Steelcase, etc and what is on offer in Europe is so stark in contrast

@h91 That's absolutely pathetic. It really annoys me that Steelcase and Haworth just don't seem to give a shit about the high-end office chair market in the UK. It's pretty much just dominated by Herman Miller atm, and it's very boring.

@@StardustLegacyFighter Haworth's UK / EU presence is just pathetic. You can literally only buy a standard Fern from the international store with no customisation options, although I do think it comes with everything bar adjustable lumbar which isn't too bad. The warranty for UK buyers is pathetic as well - they say it's 10 years, but parts and fabrics are only covered for 5 and 2 respectively. Pointless. No wonder Herman Miller have the UK and EU market locked down.

Same here, I got my Aeron last year too, but unlike you guys, we have a lot less availability in the UK. I would have loved to try out the Fern DNC, but Haworth isn't legally allowed to sell that in Europe atm. Steelcase would have obviously been a great alternative, but with only 5 years of warranty and higher prices, it was not an option for me.

i bought this chair a week ago and i will send it back. my butt hurts after 30 min sitting on it. the tilt forward option malfunctions all the time. its like its slipping through as soon as you move forward to the seat edge. i cant believe how incredibly uncomfortable this chair is, how can anyone sit in this for a long time?! if this is the best chair the ergonomic world has to offer im going back to plushy comfy chairs...

These chair companies just have to be bought off by Haworth... I'm not even specifically calling out BTOD... all of them. I just got a digital knit fern and it is the cheapest feeling piece of crap I've sat in since my $200 Amazon chair years ago. The only thing this chair has going for it is the back... it's like Haworth put all of the budget and focus into the back, then paired a generic, cheap office chair with it. My Amia and Embody blow this thing out of the water. The Fern's arms, when raised half way or higher are flimsy and rattly. The armpads just feel very cheap. The seat is alright but again, the material feels like that of a $400-$500 office chair at best. The plastic doesn't feel premium, like it does on amia/embody. The base and casters are very basic. The back however is pretty nice... love the digital knit feel and the recline is good but not as good as the Embody. Wasn't a fan that the back metal had scuffs on it out of the box and the material are two separate colors. Didn't get to try the forward tilt option out because haworth delivered a chair with a broken height adjustment lever (no damage to shipping box). No clue how this chair ranks "S" tier unless Haworth bought it. My gf's Secret Lab feels like far higher quality somehow. It's so crazy to me that they're considered a competitor of the Embody.
@btodtv

If you think the Fern is lower quality than Secret Lab, then you need to just stop watching review videos and take your own advice and do whatever you want. This is simply a rant. The base and caster are low quality? lol cmon man. Also, Haworth has never paid us anything to be ranked on any list. -Ryan

@@btodtv Another explanation is they send reviewers higher quality chairs. I was really shocked how bad this was when it got here. I'll send a video, before it goes back. If it was $600 it would be one thing, but upwards of $1600 is bizarre

Looks like you've never sat on crappy office chairs before, because if you think the Fern's armrests are horrible, then you'd be mortified to see how bad armrests on cheap chairs are. I would say the Fern's armrests are almost as good as the Leap v2, which is a huge compliment.

My ass is dying, this gaming chair sucks. My back is also dying, but at a slower rate. Soon. I'll be getting a new chair, that I hopefully like. Just as long as I don't sink into the cushion and touch whatever the bottom is made out of, since that's the root problem causing my pain. Just below the root is the cushion that did not even survive 6 months, sinking down into the metal frame which is a part of what holds the cushion. Totally not me on death bed because of copium
