Summary: 1 in 4 Americans thinks NASA's budget should be reduced. I feel this stems from misunderstandings like how much NASA actually gets in the first place. I tried to shed some light on some of the work NASA does from my personal experience to make a case for why NASA is one of the best investments we make with our tax dollars.

@@daddyson9104 The Van Allen Bet is two bands of radiation around our planet. They're made up of gamma and ionizing radiation. One kills people, the other knocks the electrons right off of the atoms in electronics. It's the reason why we've never been to the Moon, and why all our "satellites" and "Space Stations" are in NEAR EARTH ORBIT, less than 100 miles from the surface. Consequently, all of NASA's "space walks" are done in a giant pool, making it necessary for "astronauts" to wear snorkels in their "space" suits.

WillXDGaming Have you looked at the stuff that NASA is responsible for? SpaceX is taking already established technologies and making them better. But, without NASA's original efforts SpaceX wouldn't be around today. I hate government spending, but acknowledge that governments can afford to not make money on an endeavor, so NASA might hit a lot of dead ends, but some of those unexplored roads will lead to things like Velcro or memory foam. These are things that profit driven companies might not have ever discovered since a profitable company needs to make money... and it only makes sense that they would invest in items they can market and make profit from.

You know, you may be one of the most inspirational influencers on this website. When you said 'it could be you,' It really made me think that it could for a moment, which is far more than anyone else has ever done. Congratulations!

I was thinking of working at KFC but he's changed my mind I'm off to mars if I don't stand on a moon planet or asteroid in my lifetime I might as well have my dead body strapped to a giant helium balloon sent off into the void of space. At least it'll be much cheaper and a better funeral. I'm genuinely interested in this idea but I don't know who would agree to do thus to me.
