Sure you can continue as many times as you want but the good ending is locked behind less than 8 continues. Use more than that, and you get a nasty surprise ending...

DoomRater - Only 7 continues? That's... kind of generous for a hard game actually. I know a few other hard games that did some nasty dick moves for their "best endings."

There a subtle detail on the continue screen. It shows a picture of the player and his wife. If you go over the 8 continue counter, the image will change slightly where she has fangs

I think the _real_ wasted potential of the combat system isn't the lack of weapons, it's the fact that enemies are unaffected by the countless traps strewn around the levels to kill you. When you were beating up that ball thing at 0:30 I was hoping to see you knock it back onto the spike trap to be impaled, but nope.

I remember this game getting announced and it took forever for it to get released. I never played the game, but great review as always. Straight to the point, you cover all the necessary topics in a quick and articulate manner. I take your reviews more seriously than any other snes game reviewer on KZfaq. Cheers!

One thing I liked was the game's rather impressive moveset. Sure, there's your typical punch combo, but you could slide kick, jump kick, jump double kick, and best of all, juke back and forth to quickly move around with your guard up. There was even a very difficult move that required you to hit punch and jump simultaneously right after juking forward, which led to a hard knee to the stomach followed by a kick to the face. Fun stuff.

This is one of those hardcore old school 16bit era hidden gems. Great music, excellent atmosphere, stylish gameplay, non linear levels, epic boss fights. I never played it back when it was released, but manage to finish it via emulator about 10 years or so. It's tough as coffin nails, specially to unlock the good ending. All the people thrashing it, the majority at least are blatantly biased on the fact they didn't grew up playing NES or even SNES and want to compare it to modern standards like they always do.

Someone never learned how to do the other more useful moves in this game... there are more attacks than it seems at first. Here’s a good one. From your fighting stance, roll your thumb across the jump and the attack in that order. If done right you’ll do the double jumping front kick. Useful for the Frankensteins, among others.

Nosferatu is an addictive game for gamers who enjoy higher levels of difficulty. I loved this game as soon as I saw your intro. The music, the dark and gothic environment ... Insane for a 90's game, phenomenal. Deserves a REMAKE. One of the best Nintendo games.

I just dropped about $50 on this one, just cuz I'm a sucker for horror-themed games. The controls look like a slower, slidier version of what I experienced in SOS, but obvs that's just from what I saw in this vid. Oddly enough, and I think I may have mentioned this on another vid a few years back, but I still haven't played a Prince of Persia game, but I still find myself drawn to these types of games. I do agree that it is too bad that they did not integrate weapons into the gameplay, but that soundtrack, atmosphere, and art was enough to make me bet against my rent some (hehheh). Either way, solid review, and I wish more kids checked weird shit like Nosferatu and SOS out more. Thanks for fighting the good fight.

Even more amazing is this game didn’t use a coprocessor or “special chip” like most late launch SNES titles, and it still looks amazing using the raw 80’s hardware the SNES was built on. Probably partly why it took years to develop.

I rented this game with my friend way back in the day, and I can confirm, the controls are stiff but very precise, identical to those of Prince of Persia. But yeah, it does get pretty tedious as you go on and it’s a real slog knowing that you can’t save your progress. So we played it way into the night, to the point where we both thought that, with every continue, the girl was slowly transforming into a vampire herself. I chalk it up to sleep-deprived delirium but who the hell knows. I’d give it a 6.5 or 7 out of 10, not great but not awful.

I remember back in the days this was released, it got a lot of negative reviews, probably because I think this was ported to some other systems at the time and may have been better on something like Sega CD or the 3DO or whatever. But all the old 90s gaming magazine reviews are suspect anyway, since most of the time they were just making shit up and not even playing the games.

I just feel that it's a very poor control scheme for this kind of game, especially with it's beat-em-up element. You move so slow and sluggishly, but from the footage you show here, it looks like the game often requires you to act fast. That's bullshit.
