Thanks again. You know being overweight has had a lot of bad. Life is better now, even with gas!!! You do not suck! It’s just a set back that is a setup to greater things with this knowledge!

Thank you for the suggestion! I think sometimes I do feel hungry because I need more protein. Here’s a free suggestion to fill up at night, hot water-lol. For real, sometimes I drink hot water, like it’s tea, when I feel hungry. I feel your pain on the expense of healthy food/supplements. Hang in there, you’re an inspiration to me!

Protein tends to be one of the best sources for satiety. You know what else is really good for satiety, fats and especially foods high in cholesterol. Dietary cholesterol doesn’t translate to higher blood cholesterol but saturated fat does and unfortunately they tend to go together. You could try adding some monounsaturated fats to your diet. Avocados, nuts and seeds, nut butters like peanut and almond butter. Some of those can have higher calories but they are pretty filling. I think you are doing the right thing by reducing your saturated fat , drinking coffee, and increasing the veggies. You are doing great!!!! This isn’t directed at you but in general the glp1 community. You can love me or hate me for being the devil’s advocate here but…..Yes, getting sufficient protein is important. But it should not squeeze out the other macros just to make room for it. If you go by the daily recommendation of protein for a 200lbs person at 1 gram per pound of lean body mass, ideal weight of 165lbs. 4 calories per gram of protein is 660 calories daily from protein and this is just an estimate of lean body mass. I know the daily recommended amount of protein number that i used is pretty high. I picked it for shock value and context, if you are on restricted calorie diet, that is a lot of calories coming from one macro. Additionally, with the readily available protein supplements (shakes and bars) it can be easy to overdo it. I know protein is important to prevent muscle loss. But if you have any liver disease the process of breaking down excess protein can be too much work for your liver. Producing and clearing cholesterol is also an important function of the liver. If your liver is unable to function optimally because it is fatty, it can also raise your cholesterol. Non alcoholic fatty liver is liver disease. Yes, you should have protein with every meal because it is satiating and prevents muscle loss. I caution people to be careful with all the protein supplements, listen to your body, and don’t overdo the protein.

I've been meatless 48 years. 18 of those vegan. For me, it's always been for the animals, so I've been a JUNK food rather than whole food plant based vegan. No surprise I'm fat and diabetic. I am the idiot who will eat less of the nutritious foods and "save up" my calories so I can eat more garbage snacks in the evening. I skip breakfast and lunch, eat a big dinner and then snack at night. Lifelong horrible habits! This is what I am working on and struggling with changing. This video is so on target for me, as have been so many of your videos. I've always been sure to get adequate protein, but I think I really have to focus on extra protein now that I'm on ozempic. Maybe this will help me feel the suppression better and quiet the noise more. Thanks, Ali.

I have a hard time with beans. I am almost on a carnivore diet. Lots of whole milk good quality cheese, pork, steak and seafood. I do have a small apple daily. I cut out protein shakes. So so weird that this finally fixed my bowel habits. I feel amazing and my labs are fixed.

I just subscribed to your channel. I enjoy hearing about your experiences and your honesty...and your dog. I feel really sorry for you for having cramps, etc. That's the pits! Maybe you can ease into the vegan side of things until you can tolerate it better. You just said you were worried about losing more than 2 pounds. I hear that! I've been sick and I'm afraid of the same thing. I do not want to lose muscle either.

Utterly brilliant video!, epiphany for me too my dr was reluctant to move me to 7.5 she said try 1 more month and maybe eat some more protein so i added protein shakes instant hunger suppression lost 3 lbs the foolowing week i agree with you maybe a lot of people are thinking their dose isnt high enough? I lost 2 more pounds this week after 2 months of 5mg where i thought its not working for me quite easy now ive more than doubled the protein i was eating You got this Allie love your hair love your videos

I am vegan/vegetarian, but I was before starting MJ. I just eat more healthy now. And while I applaud your doctor recommending a vegan diet, to suddenly change your diet that drastically is hard. If you aren’t used to eating beans a lot and increasing fruits and veggies it is a BIG change for your GI system. It is better even for people not on MJ to do it gradually. I can’t imagine being on MJ as well. Eventually your body will get used to the fiber and you tummy will be happy and constipation will be a lot less. In the meantime maybe use beano. Beans rarely give me gas now. Also, fixing things in 2 weeks to improve your labs isn’t gradual and doesn’t set you up for something sustainable. What will happen after these 2 weeks? Be gentle with yourself. I do eat occasional dairy even though I prefer to be vegan. I don’t think you need to be 100% vegan right now, even 80% would be a big change. And is it even enough time to change cholesterol in 2 weeks? I’m thinking 2 months is more realistic. Be gentle with yourself. I too am sad that I am spending more than I was before MJ even though I ate much more then and less now. I’m just getting fresher healthier foods.l, and I have to acknowledge I am worth it. It’s also very important not just to have protein. You need protein fat and fiber in every meal to have satiety. Some other protein ideas-peanut butter! Nuts! Seeds have protein too, like sunflower seeds. Chia seeds and hemp seeds are easy proetein to throw in yogurt or you can make chia pudding. Soy milk and almond milk are higher protein than oat milk as well. Wishing you the best and give yourself grace. Reduce the pressure to fix in 2 weeks.

Have you tried Beano? Supplement you take before a bean meal. It doesn’t completely negate the gas or the other side effects but it mostly does. I make a chicken chili every so often and my husband and I take two Beano‘s before we eat it and it’s way less invasive than if we didn’t take it.

Your body needs time to adjust to beans and legumes. Literally, a couple of cooked tablespoons at at time in the beginning. And veggies, especially the super gassy, cruciferous ones like broccoli, cabbage etc. are easier to digest if they're cooked longer. Also, here is a hint if you decide to try protein pasta. This really applies to any starch, potato, sweet potato, etc. - if you cook it a day in advance and re-heat the next day, the process of it sitting in the fridge for a day will turn it into what's called resistant starch which lowers the glycemic level which will likely allow a diabetic to consume without a huge bs spike. Finally, protein pasta is more expensive, $3.50 a box and it's technically a processed food, but you get several servings and it can be a gentle, easier to tolerate hit of vegan protein for you at this stage. Best wishes to you and your tummy, lol. You will find what's best for you.

Nothing worse than middle of the night gas. In my case throw in a little constipation. I felt like a sink of old dish water this morning.😂😂 Hope you feel better❤

Oh yea for sure, so many people in the support groups are saying it’s not working but they aren’t tracking it to get a good picture. if I don’t eat enough protein and healthy fat I am soooo hungry. Yea I can’t do beans either my stomach gets mad too 😆 hang in there!

I noticed it these past two weeks. I'm back home on vacation and the diet here is carb heavy and lots of fried food. I noticed there were days were I was getting hungry and when I would check with my tracker I noticed that muy protein intake was very low.

One of my favorite websites for vegan meals is Rabbit and Wolves. She has a ton of stuff and a lot of it is simple. I've made so many of her recipes for my meat and potatoes loving husband and he loved them as well as my kids. I'm not vegan but sometimes I like to have meatless meals.

I can only eat certain vegetables and legumes with an enzyme supplement or beano. Have you tried this? I just started this medication and am worried about not being able to break down meat fast enough to hit protein goals and cut back on side effects.

We might not need them but there are some good plant based protein powder that isn't expensive and help if you are struggling when you first start eating legumes beans ect it's a lot to change all at once
