New drugs like Wegovy, Ozempic and Mounjaro are billed as a revolutionary new approach for losing weight. But are these actually miracle drugs? Dr. Sanjay Gupta turns to Yale School of Medicine assistant professor Dr. Jorge Moreno to explain the science behind these medications - from the benefits to the risks to the unknowns. Plus, what anyone who’s interested in taking these drugs should know.

@@noreenq2385He still takes it because now he’s Diabetic. These drugs eliminate your body’s ability to regulate blood sugar. The drugs do the work that your body used to do on its own. Now you’re dependent on the drug to do what was a natural insulin response previously.

Why are so many people needed for the production of an audio podcast? Is it mainly for research? Having worked in local TV, where we produce programs and news reports with very few people, this really is mind boggling.

I'll say that. All my life.I battled the same thirty pounds was never passed a hundred and eighty pounds. I had an injury where movement became scary. Some memory loss. And I had no self control when it came to food. Trying to put myself I guess into an induced coma l o l. So now that it's time for me to get the weight off i'm two hundred I was two hundred and seventy pounds. And when I try to restrict my eating. It wasn't like before . I felt like I had a sugar monster inside of me and felt panicked and deep suffering when I started restricting my diet . It really felt like I had a hormonal imbalance this time like it wasn't just will power. Like my body literally was composed of something else. And it's now attacking itself as I try to eat non sugary fattening foods. I've been on ozempic 3 weeks And have had no side effects. I felt the medication the first day my stomach would hurt all the time pains and gurgles. Ozenpic relieved the pain in my stomach. Which is also why I was eating too much.Because I wanted to keep my stomach inflated so it wasn't hurting. The second week I was down five pounds. I haven't weighed yet weighn friday. I've been working out 5 days a week since January and previously I was working out.Maybe three days a week. And I had only been down eleven pounds since october.

to summarize: People eat too much processed and animal food, and not enough fiber (fiber makes GLP-1 in the intestine naturally). By eating these foods they are making themselves and the environment sick and companies rich. To counter the side effects of these eating habits, they are taking injections, which make the companies rich and people with diabetes very sick. And in the long run, when they stop taking those injections, they re-gain all the weight because their outlook on food has not changed. WAUW ! isn't there anybody out there that can see this flawed logic? Eat real food, not too much, and mostly plants. And everybody makes his own GLP-1.

In Germany they prescribe Wegovy. Same thing but specifically formulated for weight loss. It also brings down blood sugar so people DON’T DEVELOP diabetes. Which is far better than waiting for diabetes and then needing Ozempic. People need to lighten up & let go of the high they get from hating on people who struggle with weight. Mind your own bodies.

@@godisamazing7074 Food companies got so good at making their food addictive to some people that can be easily made addicted to them because of their genes. That's like saying to a smoker: Just quit. Same as saying that to someone who is addicted to any other substance. I mean I don't smoke because it was disgusting when I tried it - but for people who genetically had better receptors for nicotine, is it really for me to say they are weak? Just understand that every person is different genetically and can get addicted to different substances simply based on chance.
