is there a chance that her processed goods have people become allergic to freshly harvested foodstuffs? I seem to be allergic to oven chips..that could be due to supermarket being lax in how it preps it's food or how suppliers now prep food...

DR STEN!! THIS IS BY FAR THE BEST VIDEO YOU HAVE EVER DONE!!! This should be part of every children's school curriculum from grade school to high school. SO IMPORTANT to understand what causes addiction and to fully understand what refined and processed foods are. So many people hear about processed food but have zero idea the grave damage it does to raising unnaturally toxic levels of insulin! GREAT JOB...NO ONE ELSE IS DOING THIS!

Your exposé about oil is fully correct. Being knowledgeable in this field, I want to add that soybean oil (n°1 oil in US, n°2 worldwide) is also extracted with hexane (which is a kind of light gasoline). However, hexane is fully removed from the oil. After the solvent extraction, the solvent is distilled and the resulting crude oil is degummed (a kind of water washing) and bleached with activated carbon to remove pigments. The resulting oil has bad taste/odor and must be deodorized. Deodorization is realized at about 270°C under high vacuum (1-2 mBar) to avoid oxydation. However it can be expected thas some side reactions take place at such high temperature even in absence of oxygen (trans, polymerisation). Furthermore, about 50% of tocopherol (vit E) is removed as well during deodorization. Sunflower oil and rapeseed oil are also solvent extracted. Palm oil is mechanically extracted and is a bit "more natural" than seeds oil but is still bleached and deodorized at high temperature during about 1 hour to operate a "heat-bleaching". Knowing all this I eat...olive oil and butter.

I really appreciate your videos( I watched a lot ). Recently I found a Japanese doctor looking for a good English-Speaking videos about low-carb theory, so I recommended your videos. Then he decided to recommend yours in his blog ! (He was writing that there are many questions from Japanese who live abroad and looking for information in English so that people around them can understand). I started whatching your videos for 2 reasons - getting knowledge and learning English. I am very satisfied for both purposes ! Your explanation is very clear and logical. I am so happy that you are making many videos and I can keep watching. Thank you Dr. Ekberg ! By the way, in Japan there are many good food like Tofu and Kanjaku, and also many restaurants are starting to put low-carb menus... Carbohydrate is still very popular (like rice and Ramen), but things are changing.

I believe that the oils they sell to us in the supermarkets as heart healthy etc....was first manufacture in the 1800 later they used these oils for use in machinery like submarines, tanks etc...Procter and Gamble sure did a number on the people during the war when butter was in short supply as they were sending butter to the troops which cause a shortage back home. Vegetable oils (and margarine, made from these oils) are oils extracted from seeds like the rapeseed (canola oil) soybean (soybean oil), corn, sunflower, safflower, etc. They were practically non-existent in our diets until the early 1900s when new chemical processes allowed them to be extracted. They used the oils to make a lot of different products like nappies, soap etc. Vegetable oil can be used as diesel fuel just as it is, without being converted to biodiesel. The downside is that straight vegetable oil (SVO) is much more viscous (thicker) than conventional diesel fuel or biodiesel, and it doesn't burn the same in the engine -- many studies have found that it can damage engines. What damage does it do to the body....the arteries, veins etc....?

Dr. Ekberg, my husband and I have a question about this. Does that mean natural juices and natural shakes (obviously taking into account to whatch out the quantity of fruit) are not that good for us? So it would be preferable to just eat the apple as it is? Thank you!

What about if I use fat for cooking’s? Is that bad. My grandma used to cook with fat that was from the process of fried pork, that oil became solid and she was cooking all the time with that. Awesome video

Thank you Juan Carlos Guzman. I really appreciate your feedback and so glad that you liked it. I collect fat from both pork and beef to use later for cooking. Especially grass fed organic is great.

I eat from time to time rolled oats (think thats the right term) with fresh crushed seeds (flax, sesame, pumpkin) and a few nuts mixed in milk. From time to time I like this. But now that i want to reduce my carbs to nearly zero, i find it hard to let it go^^.

My question is for those who are skinny and want to gain weight, what food can be eaten but along the way be avoiding processed food or refined carbs .
@drekberg
@drekberg 5 жыл бұрын
In addition to meat and veggies, I would eat potato and brown rice with butter for example. Those foods are unrefined and with butter the glycemic index would be moderate.

I often wonder about peanut oil, which is not recommended by people concerned about good and bad oils. A crushed peanut seems quite oily. Or is it?

No canola oil comes from the rapeseed and is highly processed and just as bad for you as other so called "vegetable" oils like corn and soybean oil. Better to fry with coconut oil or butter, lard or ghee.

Excellent content. I just wanted to point out a detail: trans fats are not a saturated, they are a byproduct of the hydrogenation of insaturated "cis" fats naturally present in vegetable oils. The hydrogenation process is not complete, so the fats that don't get saturated of hydrogen, turn into "insaturated trans fats". That means their double bond gets "twisted" and turned from cis to trans, changing their structure. So, as you say, they don't get involved in the same processes as the cis fats do in the body.

Well the fact that the store is always full isn't a good sign... and even from an economical point of view... wouldn't it be ideal to just sell 80-90% of your stuff and 99% of the time you'll have these 5% remaining of all the food categories? Because that means the supermarkets would have to pay less for transport since they import less food and still maintain the sales. Like if it was that way i'm pretty sure they wouldn't need to process the food at all or very very mildly.

Question for anyone: For this video you show a pizza in the picture. Isnt it OK to eat just the toppings that are put onto the pizza? That is only Sausages, Mushrooms, Onions, Cheeses, and tomato sauces (at least that is what I would have for toppings). I would get a deep dish pizza with these toppings and not eat the crust, Is that OK??? This would be a once and a while thing. it maybe filling, but should not be allot of sugars or starches like if i were to also eat the crust. I dont think this would take me off my diet, I am not on a strict Keto only diet, kind of a hybrid or somewhat low diet (omit starches, grains, allot of sugars, and processed foods). i would have nothing else with this meal other than an Ice Tea. Thanks for the video.

@@Cartisjet I dont eat Pepperoni but yes I know that Sausages and Cheeses are processed. It would be just a ONCE and a WHILE treat since I am not diabetic to eat just the toppings. At least i wouldn't eat all that floured Crust with tons of sugar to do the weight loss thing. thanks for your info comments though. take care.
