Let's talk freelance life, hustles, office jobs and PAYE privilege and the systemic goodies and precarities of both. Coining the term 'ratlance' now.

Welcome to the SEO paragraph! I worked in the UK book publishing industry before starting my freelance career in producing, presenting, writing and KZfaq. In this episode I talk about bookkeeping, balancing your income as a sole trader, the advantages of setting up as a company, employment protection as an employee V a freelancer and lots more. As someone who had a fixed job for a long time, I was only able to negotiate my salary every year or so, where as as a contractor or sole trader, I'm able to negotiate project to project. I'm also able to advocate a fairer pay for myself and the workers in my industry, where possible. On the sad side, I don't have a union (there used to be a union for KZfaqrs but I think it died).
