Aircraft carriers are essentially floating airbases on the sea, equipped with a lengthy flight deck and all the essential amenities needed to support aircraft operations. They are specifically designed to streamline the process of launching and recovering aircraft at sea, enhancing the flexibility of naval operations. These carriers can also be seen as a symbol of a nation's overall wealth. Why so? Well, this is because they are intricate and costly to build and upkeep. This makes only financially stable countries with ample resources able to afford to invest in the development and deployment of aircraft carriers.
Currently, there are 28 aircraft carriers in use by various countries worldwide. The US, being the most powerful nation globally, possesses eleven "supercarriers." China, an ambitious and revisionist nation, is actively working towards expanding its aircraft carrier fleet and is on the brink of deploying a third carrier. India, Italy, and the United Kingdom each have two carriers. Conversely, Russia, often regarded as a weakened force, only has the Admiral Kuznetsov, which some consider the worst carrier. In fact, there are doubts whether it will ever set sail again. so, what makes this aircraft carrier so bad?

The French carrier is the only non US nuclear carrier as well as it uses catapults, which means it’s the only non US carrier that US carrier based aircraft can land and launch from, and recently joint exercises were done for just that reason, launching US and French aircraft from each nations carrier

Fog is an issue when working with cranes, if the crane operator can’t see the ground or vise versa, you have the potential for an accident

What makes this aircraft carrier so bad? First of all, the fact that it is not an aircraft carrier. It is heavy cruiser, whic carry aircrafts. It has rocket armament, approximately equal to the firepower of the entire aircraft carrier group and Kuzia actually developed being able to eliminate those aircraft carrier GROUPS. At once. So yes, it is very bad carrier, but unique and most powerful heavy cruiser.

@@madrankx2372 it was a terrible design from the get-go. Like a really, really Nad design. On the rare occasion when the engine runs it produces so much exhaust that it leaves a trail for several kilometers. Even with a whole ocean to try and hide in that smokestack gives you away. It's so bad that exhaust plume can literally be seen from space! The ship can't ballast right so any turns have to be incredibly slow and incredibly wide. If I rember even the front ramp was put at some stupid angle that makes take offs super risky. All the corruption and skimming of funds meant all subsystems are not even what they were wrongly designed to be. And the bigger problem is this is how everything russian is done. Lowest possible quality with the lowest quality workmanship with the lowest quality parts. Tanks, aircraft, boats, it doesn't matter. Even the body armor! It's airsoft armor for God's sake. And this is how it has been for a century. No education. Just constant propaganda. Russia used to produce some of the finest scientists and academics in the world. 4 or 5 purges later you have people that steal toilets from Ukraine because they have only ever heard they exist.

@LSmoney215 smart money would be to strip it down to the keel. The whole power system was obsolete when they installed it. Gut all the shorting out wiring. Get rid of everything and do it better. Or since it is just so dang old anyway, scrap the entire thing. Start with a fresh piece of paper and try again. If you can find a couple designers and ship builders that are competent and sober, which is realistically unlikely then russia might have a chance of a working carrier.

Not either the Soviet system of corruption they had. But thanks to Putin they are almost guaranteed membership. And he also lost Sweden and Finland. And Armenia is swinging harsh to the West, as is all the ...stan countries that used to be firmly with russia.

Because they didn’t pull electricity from the shore when it was tied up, they ran the boilers for years on end to power the ship. Unfortunately, this has severely worn the engines and its associated machinery. It needs a new power plant.

The "carrier" is neither here nor there so long as it floats. It's the aircraft launched from the carrier that count. The Russians have very good aircraft, pilots and air defense. The Kuznetsov has attack and defense incorporated in a single ship and does not need a battle group to support it a sea. Anyway the Russian could easily build new carriers if they wanted or needed to. Anyway Carriers are more or less obsolete as they are exposed to submarine, missile and air attack.

@jmz2154 what problem? The entire boat is a flawed design. The powerplant is junk. The directional controls keep failing. The whole electrical system keeps igniting. The plumbing can't even function properly. From stem to stern it is a basket case. I have seen reports where the keel leaks so much the pumps can hardly keep up. But Russia doesn't want to lose the "status" of having a carrier. When it has been nothing but an embarrassment and a huge drain on resources that could have been put to building a decent one. Russia definitely has the ability to build a quality ship. But this one is a complete failure.

The only country in the west that's technologically advanced is the US.Please don't include any other NATO countries since we all know they heavily rely on the US on almost everything and are incapable.Europe on its own couldn't defeat or hold back a Russian military invasion.There are only 3 countries in the world with mega military advanced capabilities especially when it comes to manufacturing and getting it all out onto the frontlines as quickly and efficiently as possible, that is the US,China and Russia.All other countries are just irrelevant and don't even come close to the main 3 giants of the world.
