#TheOffice is one of the greatest shows of the 2000s! I’m reviewing every episode with some background, trivia, the deeper meaning, and more. Today, we're wrapping up #Season3 .
Season 3 is one of the best seasons of the Office. Gay Witch Hunt, Safety Training, Business School, Beach Games, and The Job top out the list of a season full of incredible episodes.
Prison Mike, Lazy Scranton, Oscar Michael Kiss, Dwight you Ignorant Slut, Hotel Hell, and so much more are on the table (but not Pepperoni Tony).
And Cold Openings? Some of the greatest in the series! Letters from the Future, Dwight Riddles Ryan, Roy Attacks, Demerits, Identity Theft, and a ton more.
Last but not least are the dramatic moments, like the conclusion to the Casino Night Kiss, the aforementioned Roy Attack, Michael's speech to Ryan about People not going out of business, Michael at Pam's art show, Pam's emotional Beach Games outburst, and the date proposal.
Thanks to our NBC overlords for their creation and ownership of the Office. The clips used here are for reviewing and education.

Season 3 was the beginning of the peak of the show in my opinion. It has some of the best story telling in the whole show and I honestly can’t think of any episode from this season that I don’t like like for some of the later seasons.

I agree. I remember buying Season 1 and 2 on DVD (I'm British so I didn't get to see it on TV). Season 1 was ok and season 2 was really good so when season 3 was available, I got it right away and to this day I feel its the season were that show went from great, to the best comedy sitcom/show ever. I was a huge fan of the British show but I was so happy they did their own thing and made it even bigger than the original.

The third season of many sitcoms is usually the peak. They usually start falling off hard after about 5 seasons. This show didn't collapse after season 5, but you started seeing cracks.

I agree that Jim used Karen but I guess I saw it as from fear, not pride. Jim continues to have feelings for Pam and even admits that to Karen. I think dating Karen was a way to keep Pam at arms length....because he didn’t want to get hurt again. Pam hurt him bad enough that he moved away and he didn’t want to move back. He wasn’t willing to take any steps towards Pam until there was no question that Pam wanted to be more than friends. Maybe he even hoped that dating Karen would blunt his feelings for Pam. But I don’t think he intentionally manipulated Karen. And the cold open of letters from the future is one of my faves.

I Really wish they would’ve kept Karen as part of the show and gave her more stories throughout the series. Rashida killed it and (Hot Take) I like Karen better than Pam. Not that I don’t like Pam but They made her a boring character once she got with Jim. They Should’ve had Karen get the corporate job instead of Ryan. That way they don’t ruin Ryan’s character and Karen gets fleshed out and can still interact with the rest of the show. Imagine the interactions with Karen and Jim, Karen and Pam, Maybe Ryan would shoot his shot for Karen now that Jim’s out of the way. It would’ve been awesome. The awkward Comedic moments are what this Show is for, This was the perfect opportunity.

He says and I quote "I have been caught using the women's restroom several times and I have paid dearly for it" implying that he's getting beaten up for it. I think that the trauma of Jim being rejected by Pam at the end of season 2 was the reason it took so long for him to come back to her. Karen was a great match for Jim unlike how Roy was a terrible match for Pam in Season 2, but in the end, Jim will ALWAYS come back to Pam no matter what. He genuinely loves her more than anything else, but has times (Karen, Athlead) that he seems to concentrate on other things in his life that gives him happiness. That said, he always comes back to Pam. What a great story arc, perhaps the best, most realistic and layered love stories in TV history that will keep you guessing. It comes to a climax with Season 3 so I would not argue with someone if they believe season 3 is the best season. The only reason I have not declared that is the best season is that I have not decided yet. Season 2 was great as well, and watching the aftermath of Jim and Pam finally getting together in season 4 was a beautiful payoff and led to a growth in their relationship, every step of the way, for the following 5 seasons. I am still reticent to declaring any specific season as the best, but it is definitely between Seasons 2,3 and 4. That was when the show was at its very best.
@jerilane4420
@jerilane4420 Жыл бұрын
I know there are some who are critical of Pam and dont want her with Jim. They live in a different world than I and of course feel the way they do for whatever reason. We all have our way of seeing things. The Office to me is brilliant comedy for the most part and could get by without the love story of Pam and Jim. But for me this story is the anchor of the first 4 seasons. It makes all the comedy and chaos acceptable as you always have this truly real poignant love story as the bedrock so that there is that great jolt of emotion that can break your heart or have it soar amid the gut laughing. And it is so subtle. Jenna and John are so great in these roles. I only started watching this show on Netflix and heard about it for years. I was not prepared for this couple as was watching for the zaniness of Steve C and the many good reviews I had heard from its many fans. From the time I saw the FIRST interaction between Pam and Jim I KNEW this would be the hook for me. Of course I laughed out loud many times each show but the interaction between these two that is so subtle and real in all their scenes made me think this is not a relationship we have seen on TV before. I felt this is what really happens between two people when the sparks ignite but they are not free to act on it. Just the eye contact alone sells their chemistry and the scenes where she looks at his yearbook pic or she picks the teapot and gets the extra bonus gifts are so tender and real. I could not even conceive of this show without them together. I am in season 5 early on at present and the humor is still there but the show is like Xmas eve without snow without Pam. I know people will say who cares as her part is irrelevant now as her and Jim are together. I still need that anchor in the show and Jenna/ Pam provides that for me. I havent read the anti -Pam stuff out there and probably wont as makes no sense to me. Her character has always been one that is classy and sweet. And I love her speech at the beach that night telling the world how she felt about Jim. She went for it and we know Jim was moved not horrified. She stayed with Roy and broke Jim's heart because of duty. She was settling and knew it but the ring meant a committment for her. Jim may have been able to have a life with Karen but didnt need to settle as Pam was free and wanted him. And the heart doesnt lie. I will always root for these two and I thank the writers and actors for providing me with a relationship I could argue is the most genuine and sweet I have viewed on TV. That could change in a month or two but today they are golden in my mind

@@jerilane4420 I agree wholeheartedly! I won't give you any spoilers because you are just at season 5, but Jim and Pam's relationship will continue to grow in interesting ways. You are so right about the hatred that Pam has gotten by people, I never understood it. I know that she isn't perfect but she gets so much vitriol and I think it's unfair. Curious question: numerous times you state that you want to fit as much info as you can into as little time as possible. You often comment on trying to save time. Respectfully, may I ask why? Do you have a work/editing/ other reason you strive to keep your videos short? I know 10-15 minutes is kind of the KZfaq "sweet spot" for content, but I have to say: with your format, your presentation, your insights.... I would absolutely listen and watch if your videos ran longer. We Office fans LOVE discussing and dissecting the show, and I don't think I'm alone in saying that you shouldn't put unnecessary pressure on yourself to keep these vids short. If you have a theory, a curiosity, an idea, whatever- share it! We watch you because whether or not we personally agree with everything you say, we enjoy having the outlet to share insights and hear others. Ironically, I'm sorry for the LONG comment!😂

At some point in Season 4 I said screw it, and I'll just not worry about the length. So marching order from here on out is a field guide is as long as that episode deserves. If there's tons to talk about, I'll probably talk about it.

I like the character of Karen, but I think they tried to do a very-last-minute heel-turn with her so we wouldn't feel bad that Jim dumps her unceremoniously offscreen. All of a sudden in the final episodes she's passive aggressive towards Pam, calls her a b*tch behind her back, and gives Michael really harmful relationship advice with Jan. I think it's a copout to make her a "bad guy" when the story should've just been that she and Jim just weren't right for each other.

Jim should have been with Karen. Karen made him better. When he got with Pam, he gradually became worse. His life became stagnant. Look at Roy. He became better when Pam left him. Pam is toxic and she only wanted Jim when he wasn’t available.

9:31 what kept Jim from jumping at Pam's coffee date proposal? The fact he had a girlfriend. I mean, he did later too when he left her for Pam. BFD, engaged aint married and he wasn't even engaged. But it's still not nothing to be in a relationship (she did move crom Connecticut for him, after all). When Pam sorta admittrd her feeling for him at the beach games, that was a bomb. She dropped a bomb on him. Something big like that can be jarring enough to change things. Something casual and vague like going out for coffee is not a bomb.

I never liked Andy. I don't like the actor either. He should never have become a regular. He's very unappealing. But maybe that's why it worked out for him on the The Office. It must've taken him a long time to find a job as an actor. So he must be very persistent. I suppose that adds to his unappeal.

Damn okay. I think he’s okay. I didn’t LOVE his character but I don’t think he’s unappealing and due to how successful his career has been I doubt it took him so long to find a job.
