Travel to Alpe di Siusi - Seiser Alm in the Dolomites, Italy. Stunning Alpe di Siusi - Seiser Alm is an incredible, vast alpine meadow in the Dolomite mountains of South Tyrol - South Tirol. It will take your breath away. Dotted with South Tirolean wildflowers and alpine huts and filled with trails for walking, hiking and biking among the alpine cows. Compatsch parking lot is the base for this tour three of Alpe di Siusi - Seiser Alm’s most beautiful sections. We go to Puflatsch, Panorama toward Punta di Ora, and Panorama toward Rauch as we travel between the Schlern mountain and the twin Sasso mountains, Sasso Lungo and Sasso Piatto. You can even walk by the Halfingers, a south Tyrolean horse known for grace and mountain hardiness. Summer on this spectacular plateau is a top thing to do when visiting Italy. We think it’s among the best of the Dolomites. Designated a UNESCO heritage site, Alpe di Siusi - Seiser Alm is Europe’s largest alpine meadow, all the way up at 6000 feet at the rooftop of Italy. Alpe di Siusi - Seiser Alm is massive. Just colossal. Imagine if all of Manhattan island was a single rolling lawn of grass, flowers, and picture perfect wooden huts. The meadow stretches between the Sasso Mountain Group and the Schlern. So it’s packed between some of the Dolomites most beautiful scenery two thousand feet above the famous val gardena valley. Compatch on the Alpe di Siusi is at 1869 meters or 6132 feet. Ortisei the largest village in Val Gardena is 1230 meters or 4035 feet.

Thank you, I just discovered your channel. 2 good people with wisdom. some Peaceful and somewhat philosophical thoughts while walking beautiful landscapes. I feel the same way and can certainly relate. Going back to the dolomites in june for the third time, we'll be staying close to Castelrotto for 4 nights. Can't wait to walk seiser Alm. Thanks for this. 😊

Is this reachable from Milan as a day trip? I’ve seen conflicting results if so I will make it happen when I go back to Italy because this place is absolutely gorgeous
@happygoluckytravel
@happygoluckytravel 3 ай бұрын
Oh, wow, that would be a long and arduous journey all in one day! Technically, it's possible, especially in the longer days of summer. Back and forth to Milan is eight hours of driving. If by car, you need to get to the restricted road, the only way up to the meadow, before it closes in the morning or after it opens again in the early evening. Going down there are no restrictions on the road hours. We highly recommend several days in this area if not more, Alpine weather is unpredictable and there is so much to see and enjoy!

@@happygoluckytravel Gotcha I had seen information saying that it was about 3 hours from Milan to Bolzano and then from Bolzano to Siusi another 30 minutes, personally I won’t spend all my time in Milan maybe see it for a day and then use the remaining 6 days I have in Italy elsewhere. Definitely not opposed to staying in the Dolomite region for 6 days

@@happygoluckytravel forgot to ask what about those who choose to bike instead of renting a car does the same rule for the road apply?

Its best to check with the tourist office -- we remember that bikes were okay to pass at all hours when we were last there.

Thank you so much for watching! The bulk of the video was filmed in late July, first week of August. It's very hard to time for the meadow flowers as they bloom different every year.

We stayed in a house rental in Selva and did day trips to the Seiser Alm. There are also many hotels on the Seiser Alm. You can drive, take a bus, or take one of two cable cars up. If you drive, confirm with the tourist office for the hours of the road, as the upwards direction is restricted.

How do you book within the no traffic zone?
@happygoluckytravel
@happygoluckytravel 9 ай бұрын
Thank you for watching! To park your car up at the meadow, there isn't a booking, you just need to arrive to the road barrier at the bottom of the mountain in the morning before the road closes or in the early evening when it opens again. You can go down the mountain at any time. You can also take a gondola up to the Seiser Alm all day long, from two villages at valley level. Please check the hours for the road barrier and gondolas with the Val Gardena tourist office for the most up to date info. We hope you have a fantastic trip!
