If you ask me, these news about Soy being bad for us is propagated by the "Milk Industry," they know that folks know that cow's milk is not good for them. 1952 I was born. My mother had 3 boys before me. When I came along she said she was too tired to breast feed me. So for 3 months I supposedly screamed day and night on formula. My mother a narcissistic individual enjoyed telling me how I made her life a living hell. Father and mother took turns walking me. She relished this story with adding that she wanted to throw me out the window. It took 3 mos for her to ask another doc what to do with me. He immediately switched me to soy formula. Screaming stopped. I have to say my life in this family became a fearful nightmare for me growing up. I left immediately at graduation age 18.

Since I have had a radical hysterectomy and I don’t have the gene for breast cancer, do I still have to worry about products that mimic estrogen. I do not eat soy or eggs or any animal meat and no dairy. Have you had any experience with any of your clients? I’d love to see Dr. Barnard brought in as he has had success with reversing endometriosis with the WFPB diet and with soy, also, I believe. If you have another interview with Mark Messina, PhD, I’d be curious to find out if the endometriosis study with soy was to also reject all dairy products. The same goes for breast and prostate cancer. In a fire, you can put out the flames in one room, but if you are starting the fire and won’t stop lighting it up at the same time, what sort of a show of success is that for soy?

This is SO misunderstood by MDs, including oncologists. Women still think soy products will give them breast cancer, as they were told by doctors years ago that soy promotes breast cancer. Please use some of your efforts to present this information to the segment of the medical community that has a profound influence on health - doctors. Need to also point out that Asian countries have very low incidences of breast cancer with high intakes of soy.

Glad i finally listened to this. Been vegetarian for 1 year. I was vegan for a bit and when my baby was 8 months old got pregnant again, so Ive been eating eggs and cheese on occasion (cant help myself!) I'm always nervous about my soy consumption and nervous giving my now 13 month old soy. My intuition tells me its safe but I've always felt conflicted. Thanks ;D

Truth be told, vegan isn't really the best diet, it's very good though. The best diet is the pesco-vegetarian diet. When they looked at the adventists who live in the blue zone in loma linda, the pesco-vegetarians outlived both the vegans and vegetarians. Oily fish like salmon and beans are probably the best proteins on earth for our health. I eat 1 serving of soy per day on average.

@@bonniemckee9389 If it were just the GMO, no i don't think so. But the reason why it's geneticly modified is a reason to be concerned about. The problems with soy I believe start when its used in highly processed forms that are only possible with industrialised means of production. I eat tofu, Tempeh, and edamame the way they've been traditionally produced in Asian countries for centuries, but I avoid all the "westernised" UPFs with hydrolysed soy proteins, refined soybean oils, etc. The book 'Brain Food' touches on this issue, though I can't point to the specific studies. Anyway, the UPFs are the real villain. When soy is used in UPF forms, it will produce negative effects just like how any other ingredient would cause negative effects in UPF forms.

He works for the soy industry? Why should I not take what he says with skepticism? He says that he and ten other authors worked on a report. Were those others independent or do they also work for Big Soy? Here's another question not asked. If this fellow had found data that didn't support his soy his soy industry industry bosses, what would he have done with that data, buried it? Published it? I assume that he's a good guy, sure. But you didn't ask him if he was. Still, me wanting him to be a good player the food game doesn't make it so. Instead, I think that absent of these qualifying types of questions - they are the BIG elephant in the room, now - everyone who hears this week interview ought to wonder about "what does 'the other side' say? What do the critics say? What do the naysayers say? No, he did not snswer those issues other than to cite studies and reports, but who funded those studies and reports?

There should be some disclosure here in the description of this video. While I am all for soy in my diet (organic) and consume soy milk daily, it should be pointed out that Mr. Messina is also the executive director for the Soy Nutrition Institute. While that is a bit of a conflict of interest, he has worked at the National Cancer Institute which throws him a bit in favor but this is not a very good interview for the benefits of soy in this regard. Government and industry are very closely tied like BigPharma so this was a bit of a blunder on your part. Those of us in the plant-based realm harp on the fact that so much of the faces and research are from industry research like beef, dairy, and eggs. It is important that this is understood for future interviews. When talking about soy (or any other food for that matter), someone should have distance from BigAg. This isn't helping and PCRM should know better than that. I love you guys but I have to say while his information seems pretty solid from my own self-education over the years, he may not have been the best person for the cause, if you will. It's not about the information in a lot of people's minds so much as the connections people have with large industry organizations. PCRM needs to be more selective when inviting people on to discuss these matters. I'm sure he has honest intentions with his research but the appearance of a conflict can really push people the wrong way. I can see low-carb/carnis just drooling over the fact he's in the soy industry. Please use more discretion.

Soy while an excellent source of protein it is a major allergen. Approximately two million Americans will have a soy allergy. With the many uses of soy it is endangering many. Studies have shown that excess soy has dangerous effects as well, which include seizures in small infants. Makes one wonder if the intense proteins from soy are safe to consume during pregnancies and if they are not the cause of ADHD and autism.
