I got that with superhero movies. I was once looking up the release date of Avengers 4 at university and another student, who was for some reason looking at my screen, said "There will be ANOTHER Avengers movie?!" and yet another student said "I'm getting sick of superhero movies, but then again I was getting sick of them 3 years ago already." Like isn't that almost the majority of people? You're not special for noticing there has been an abundance of superhero movies lately.

FairFuse people keep saying there are too many superhero movies, but I think that is because of their relative rarity in the past, not because there are really that many. For instance there are 6 superhero movies out in 2018 (not including Incredibles 2 which is a family story with heroes not based on a comic), which only one more than Liam Neeson films out this year. Roughly 200 films come out from the big studios each year, so 3% are comic book films. Significantly more crime, suspense, horror and romantic films come out each year, yet no one talks about fatigue with any of those. It's just kind of hip to talk about them as if 25% of films are comic book properties.

Yeah, I think the _really_ exhausting thing is being greeted by 200 Star Wars related videos every time I go on KZfaq... most with titles like "Star Wars is dead and here's why", "Kathleen Kennedy ruins Star Wars" or "Star Wars and the Feminazi SJW agenda!"

I've seen Hot Shots 100 times and still find it funny. But only Top Gun once, because if I ever want to watch Top Gun I just watch Hot Shots.

The Last Jedi did to Star Wars what The Principal and the Pauper did to the Simpson's. It punished the audience for paying attention and made both fans and casual viewers lose faith in the franchise. It's a simple as that, no need for looking at what sports games were in their playoffs the opening weekend of the Solo movie, or speculating if people would love to watch the movies better if they made you wait 3 years to see the next one. People just stopped believing these movies are going to be any good.

Hey, I live in the United States, so I can't participate in the vans competition, but I did have a sick idea for the 30 word essay. So if anyone wants to use it, here it is: Obviously Silver Surfer would be the best. He's been hanging tens and rocking sick tricks for generations. Surfing's similar to skating in balance, so it wouldn't be a hard transition.

I'm really really REALLY getting fucking tired of people talking about fatigue of anything. I'm over it. Fatigue has got to be THE most overused phrase in the digital media space. The fans are over it. We're fatigued about hearing about fatigue for the last 3 years. Please, for the love of God just LET IT GO.

Greatest counter argument to 'Star Wars fatigue' is simply saying: HEY, WHAT ABOUT MARVEL? Marvel has 3 times as many movies as Star Wars and that has not stopped Infinity War from making record sales. They are BOTH owned by Disney. The difference? The Marvel directors are trying to stay true to the original comics as best they can, taking advice from Stan Lee, while still making it interesting to the modern day viewer. And, most importantly, THEY KEEP REAL LIFE POLITICS OUT OF THEIR MOVIES. To quote George Lucas "I just wanted to tell a story."

If they don't allow their movies to feel different, it will get tiring after a while. If Lord and Miller were given creative freedom Solo probably would have been a big hit like The Lego Movie and 21 Jump Street

True lol you can't make this fandom happy XD if it's exactly the same as the original trilogy it's just copying them and if it's different it's spitting on their legacy. This is why you can't have a Star Wars cinematic universe as successful as the MCU, you can only make one formulaic movie instead of mixing up the genres to keep things feeling fresh and stave off this fatigue

I disagree, you can show Han and all the other people around him to be humorous and then woody harrelson's betrayal would actually be surprising and explain why he doesn't trust anyone and is so guarded. Hell toss in a moment where Chewbacca is the only one loyal to him or by his side after the betrayal and that just adds layers to their characters.

My movie theater ritual usually involves a cup of coffee (they make it in a Keurig -- it's the definition of "fine") and Buncha Crunch or a baked good of some type smuggled in. The best was when my wife smuggled in a piece of cake in her purse when we went to go see Looper.

I don't think it's fair to blame solo to fatigue. It's more so poor lucas film leadership, horrible marketing, releasing this film only 5 months after a divisive star wars film and the problems solo had during development which is reflected in its story. Its overall a "meh" lind of movie that's fun but nothing really special.

I'm only tired of Star Wars because the movies are coming out at near-MCU pace but have all been bad to mediocre without a promise of something bigger. Most MCU movies are fun, but OK. But because of the promise of something bigger, it kept me invested. Star Wars??? Nah.

The simple fact is that Disney has slowly killed interest in the brand, which really came to a head in The Last Jedi. The majority of people don't know or care about Lucasfilm company politics, boycotts, or Kathleen Kennedy, but in my experience, nearly all of my friends, family, and even casual acquaintances seemed to react to The Last Jedi with apathy or outright hatred. Disney tried to send off the original characters and plot threads to promote their OCs who, with the exception of Kylo Ren, just aren't especially popular or well regarded in the fandom. Now the original trio is gone, Rey is a polarizing main character, Finn never evolved past comic relief, and their best acted and most compelling character (Kylo Ren) is most likely going to get humiliated and die in the next movie. Couple that with the shockingly poor way Lucasfilm has responded to criticism and it's no wonder fans are finally giving up.

They should do episode 9, 1 movie to deal with Maul, and then make a movie that has 0 characters that have ever met a Skywalker. Maybe they know about them it us set in the future but they shouldn't know them personally.

I think you guys are wrong about the backlash. A lot of people didn't like TLJ, even if critics did, and that surely had an effect. I for one lost interest after TLJ. So I didn't care much about Solo. Also most people didn't ask for this. Where's the mystery? Everything doesn't need an origin story.

Guys, apathy is hurting the brand. Yes, there were many factors that affected the numbers around the release of this film, but every casual fan I know has said they are done with these films. They tend to cite TLJ as the point where they decided not to come back. Not because they are racists. Not because they are women haters. Not because their theory was dashed. They are done because they really didn’t like the last film. I’ve heard it over and over. You turn enough of them away and you don’t just lose single sales, you tend to lose the friends and family they bring with them. It’s simple math. I went to see Avengers again. My 20 year old daughter went to see Deadpool again. We didn’t go see Solo. Lusasfilm has hurt the brand, whether they know it not. It’s clear there has been little to no planning and consistency. Contrast that with Fiege and Marvel Studios. Anywho...

I think there needs to be one sw movie a year. Released at the same time each year. And after this trilogy ends; no more trilogies. Just do spin offs. Also, I agree, there needs to be much more games and stop with the mobile crap. EA has their head up their butt and needs the rights taken away
