Hello! Second year community college student on my way to studying Aerospace Engineering. I find your videos very informational! I was the type of student with F’s all over my high school math classes and on my first years of college. Now I’m in calc 1b with a B currently, and so far not struggling too hard in math as I use to. Dedication is what drives me into working my hardest, even though I am slower than my peers, I wouldn’t want to let that get to me.

I’m currently a first year aerospace student and man- did I expect it to be so much harder than I expected 😂. I’m currently a few weeks behind but I was wondering have you got on any tips to catch up especially with difficult modules like fluid mechanics and materials?
@SA64R
@SA64R 2 жыл бұрын
I'd say practice questions are your friend for fluid mechanics, the more you understand what the equations mean and how to apply them the easier that module will get. For materials however, I'd say try and use a revision method like active recall since materials is quite content heavy and less mathsy so doing things like flash cards to remember facts would be beneficial.

Hey! I am a second year aerospace student definitely motivated but struggling to find the time of day to learn understand and cover every topic of each class I'm taking! I just dropped statics due to low exam grades but hope to take online next semester while I complete an engineering internship. I believe both will give me a good insight as to whether this is for sure the path for me. Any tips or reassurance that all this studying is worth it? Can I fail classes such as statics and mechanics and still come out as a successful engineer?

Hi! So I’m busy with my A-levels at the moment (the same as you had and chemistry included) and my dream and goal is to become an astronaut. So far I’m thinking of doing Aerospace Engineering as I thought that might be the best degree to have to start heading my career in the the astronaut direction. What, in your opinion, is the best degree to have in order to potentially be an astronaut in the future?
@SA64R

I'd say so yes, though you could even do medicine, honestly, as long as it is a STEM degree, that'll do. But statistically many NASA astronauts have aerospace degrees.

I hate to break it to you but even as an Aerospace engineering a good chunk of your time will be sat behind a computer. However, it will be slightly more hands on that being a software engineer. Yes as a non-US citizen working in SpaceX is impossible right now, I would say becoming a software engineer may be the best way for you to get into the USA then after a number of years get citizenship and ultimately work for SpaceX as a software engineer. It is a very very long term goal if that's what you want to do

I was interested and still passionate about aerospace i love aircraft but My math is very very poor if i say I am nill that would not be good, I did electrical Electric field theory i just passed. and I faced challenges in maths subjects. Honestly after watching tis vedio if you ar not good at mathematics don't take a risk because during Electrical the maths subjects were very difficult for me. So compared to aerospace where phy and complex maths use almost more than Electrical.

Hi Sagar, I'm thinking of pursuing a degree in aerospace, but I'm currently not taking physics. I've looked at both Sheffield and Leeds University, and they offer it without physics, but I was wondering if you recommend taking it? Thanks
@SA64R
@SA64R 2 жыл бұрын
Hey Sam, I would recommend taking physics because it is a desirable A level to take if you want to pursue aerospace. Some of the topics in A Level physics such as moments are also things you will learn in your aerospace degree and so it is very useful. On top of this, if you're A level grades aren't as good as you expected, having physics as one of your A levels may give you more leverage into getting into aerospace at unis even though your grades don't match the entry requirements.

I'd say Sheffield is a pretty good university for aerospace, on the UK league tables it is currently 6th for aerospace. I'm not sure what your admissions process looks like, but I personally went through UCAS after my A Levels. Based on my experience I'd say highlight why you'd want to study the degree and what career ambitions you have after that. I'd also talk about why in particular you want to go to Sheffield. I'd highlight the amazing student project opportunities Sheffield has as a unique reason to study there.

@SA64R
@SA64R 2 жыл бұрын
If you're refering to teaching yourself aerospace engineering, then I'd say the way you're going will be challenging as learning aerospace engineering is not as "open source" as learning software. Plus there are many industry standard software which you should learn that cost in the thousands of pounds so it may be tricky financially too. Though I would never want to deter anyone from doing so, but it is just my analysis on your situation.
