Gatomon is definitely still a "Champion level" Digimon that can give "Ultimate level" Digimon some problems due to it being a holy Digimon (like Angemon) as we saw in this episode against Scorpiomon who is an "Ultimate level" Digimon. Also, Gatomon was able to communicate with Komondomon in his "dog language" most likely because Gatomon evolves from Plotmon/Salamon (Rookie) who is a *puppy* Digimon.

Well Angemon was a champion as well before he died so it makes sense that Gato/Tailmon is as well. I really do wish that we saw more of these non Tai focused character growth episodes.

When they made MarineAngemon look reasonably sized in that projection, i actually fell for it, and face-palmed for falling for it, when MarineAngemon revealed itself and its true size in the flesh. It was practically that "They had us in the first half, ngl" meme with me.

Gatomon’s always been my favorite! In the OG, she had a very compelling, moving back story. The reboot, though going in a different direction, is doing a good job of showing how inner conflict is a major theme for character development for Gatomon.

I really liked the creativity in the underwater city, the small digimon houses, the big digimon piloting the city, how imaginative and weird the place's appearance is, such a change from the generic forests they were stuck for so long.

I like that they’re focusing on the Holy aspect more with Gatomon and Patamon. I like that Angemon isn’t as accessible because he’s so overpowered, but a series with this much more action in comparison to the OG definitely couldn’t just sideline TK as much as they did before. Pegasusmon is a great bride. And so right about Gatomon, I was worried about seeing Angewomon too early because Gatomon kicked tail in the OG but it was never as impactful as Angemon, they basically disregarded the champion stage for her, so this was nice to see! I really am a bit over Taichi always being the one to go into Ultimate and leaving the other kids in the dust. I also didn’t have the same take on Sora but hearing how you voiced it, you’re right. She doesn’t feel like a real human, she’s almost like the 2nd lead but she’s not really “leading” at all, just following behind Taichi. In general I want to see more from everyone besides Taichi now lol (Can hold off on Matt Screentime too, since we know he gonna come back and get a good chuck of it lol)

GREAT to see you calling out Billiam, he is truly a KZfaq gem. It would be a dream come true to see you guys collab on an entire series retrospect once the reboot concludes. While this episode was light on huge plot points moving forward, i was happy to see Marinangemon and more weird lesser known Digimon getting some screentime. It really makes the Digital world feel alive and not just a giant set piece. Komondromon is endlessly entertaining and if something happens to him i dont think ill be able to recover.

Imo, Gatomon/Tailmon is still a champion/adult stage. I think Tailmon and Angemon was in the digital world long enough that they evolve naturally (without partners) like Tailmon in original series. When we first met Angemon/Patamon it was in Adult form, BUT Angemon technically was reborn after it sacrificed its life to save Takeru and its memories (at least some of it) are lost unless something triggers it. Kinda like Cherubimon 'died and reborn' as Lopmon and it forgotten at least some of the memories until WarGreymon triggers it. The reason why Tailmon still remembers lots of thing is that it wasn't 'died' yet. The other Digimon also possibly had been 'reset' and they have no recollection of the ancient war.

I totally agree that this is one of the best "connection" episodes. I rated it higher than 7 though just because we finally get to see Tailmon on the same level as the other champions. We've only seen that like, once, in the original when she whooped the whole time in her intro episode. After that, the original series almost ALWAYS has her evolve, and 02 straight up nerfed her to rookie level. Seeing her being treated with the gravitas that she deserves was long overdue and very welcome.

Seeing what that commenter said about the funnier side to the digimon world, I'm really enjoying seeing Mimi and Togemon get into a friendly boxing fight with digimon and making friends when they win. Those two really are out there in the digimon world living it up.

They need to bring the other 4 kids into the series again, mostly so their Megas aren't rushed

I really enjoyed this episode because it wasn't Tai focused. I'm really tired of Adventure 2020 being Tai's Adventure 2020. I need the other kids and partners to get some attention.

The worst part of this episode to me was all of Hikari's too-big, too-wide smiles. They just come off as creepy, even creepier than how quiet she was up until the previous episode.

Are they safer together? The kids can't fight at all, I'm actually surprized they haven't been killed by crossfire in every episode.

From my recollection of things in the original Adventure series, Tailmon had power on a Champion level thanks to the tail ring she wore on her tail. Losing it lowered her power significantly as such where she was on par with the other Rookie-level Digimon and needed the power of Armor Evolution to get by in battle when dealing with the Digimon Kaiser and other evil Digimon throughout much of Adventure 02.

This ep was so refreshing. I'm so glad we got some world building as well character development rather than another action packed episode. Such a shame we're not seeing more of the other kids though. But all in all, this really felt like an episode from the original series.

In the original show Kari and Gatomon were one of my favorite Child/Digimon pairings probably because, due to the nature of Gatomon's introduction, she was one of the Digimon who was most actualized as an individual character. Pairing the hardened world-weary Digimon with the most innocent Digi-Destined was an interesting dynamic. It had a transformative effect on Kari too as you could see Gatomon's sass rubbed off on her as she got older (at least how she was written in the English dub). Making Gatomon a more stern mother-hen type to Kari here was an interesting but not outlandish change considering the different circumstances. But once again Gatomon is a Digimon whose personality is more distinct from her partner and I'm interested to see how that plays out.

not gonna lie but i kinda hate that Kari got her digivice in this episode, i was hoping theyd almost recreate the scene from the original where she first gets hold of it and then boom, Angewoman is born, especially with the name of the next episode being 'Glittering Angewoman" feels like a missed opportunity to me, because that scene in the original was awesome!

I'm just waiting for the giant Rosemon But for real, will there be Burst mode? If so how it would tie in?

I think we've only seen so far Sora fight, maybe we'll some more of her character when Biyomon goes Mega. I hope next week the team gets back together or at least in some portion. I hope Tailmon we'll get a cool digivolution sequence.

Like most of subscribers says Gatomon/Tailmon IS the champion/adult level of Plotmon. When she lost her holy ring her power degrees a lot to be compared to a rookie level digimon and, thanks to that (and the sovereign digimon) she's able to use the digimental of the light to armor-digivolve into Nefertimon

This is not even a question to be made. Tailmon is definitely a Champion level didimon. If Tailmon was a Rookie, that means that Ophanimon would be only Ultimate/Perfect and that makes no sense. Ophanimon is a Mega type Digimon.

So I'll be honest considering we're only about halfway through and Megas are already being introduced I really think we're either going to get some alternative evolution methods (such as perhaps armor evolutions for the other 6 kids), some weird DNA/Jogras evolutions between the other kids, or everyone is going to get some form of Ultra Stage

I kinda love this episode. However, the producer has done it again. INCONSISTENCY!!! In ep 32, Pegasmon was a giant and Takeru's whole body wasn't not even as big as Pegasmon's head. In this episode (34), Pegasmon magically shrunk into normal size from 02. Idk why they keep releasing something incosistent times and times again. Do they don't even bother to reavaluate their work?

I can't even begin with this week's episode! It was hype in all the right places. I'm just curious about what's going on with Izzy, yeah he was always the tech guy but he's going down his path of depression way before introduction to his home life

Good episode. Definately some much needed development for Kari and Gatomon now that they are finally together. We see a very interesting dynamic play out where Gatomon wants her partner to stay out of the way whilst she does the fighting but eventually realises that in order to be able to be stronger she has to work WITH Kari. It feels appropriate then and there that they finally get the last digivice. Nice to see another brand new Digimon that was recently created last year called Sangomon: digimon.fandom.com/wiki/Sangomon Nice to see TK making use of Pegasusmon which is very nice to see too. It is interesting that MarineAngemon being a mega-class Digimon is tiny just like she was in Tamers whereas was not scaled up like Wargreymon has been. That being said it was very cool to see MarineAngemon using her powers to move the city with the assistance of Daipenmon which was the gigantic penguin with popsicles for those unaware (it's one of the Ancient Warriors). Also, interesting fact: Manboomon the fish digimon and Mantaraymon that we saw this episode both actually are armour digivolutions of Patamon. Mantaraymon evolves from Reliability whereas Manboomon is from the DigiEgg of Light....yeah armour evolutions can be very hit or miss sometimes. Nice to see Gatomon using her holy powers like Angemon to power up their allies but also to power herself up for the kill against Scorpiomon (Anomelacarimon). I enjoyed the flashback that Kari had with her cat as a kid,. So overall, good episode. I like the theory someone here made on FAGA's acronym, I'm very curious to see what it means.

In the episode they said the holy ring that MarineAngemon has, gives power to him, digimon with small body. Tailmon has the same so there is the answer. He is champion because of the ring.

So is Joe, Mimi, Matt, and Izzy just going to meet Tai and the others at FAGA? If so how will they know how to get there? Or is Tai and the others going to swing by and pick them up? From what I understood from the last episode Gatomon was heading straight for FAGA.

I understand people thinking this version of Sora is kind of flat, but it's not like she was really the most dynamic character in the original. I'd like to see a bit more snark from her, but really the big takeaway of Sora's character in the original was always learning to accept that she was loved for who she is, not just for what she does. I think there's still plenty of time to explore that and look forward to it when it does happen.

Gato/Tailmon has always been a champion level Digimon thanks to its holy tail ring but without it she is essentially at the rookie level and had the armor digivolution ability.

I really love that they focusing to holy digimon in the new series.. But neglecting other members (palmon/gomamon) is something that I don't like. Gatomon is a champion level digimon but that's weird, everyone who digivolves reverts back to their rookie level form but Gatomon doesn't have to accept that one time after the events where they first went to the human world with the digidestined.

In terms of character develipment, Gatomon from Adventure 01 was the most developed character, so I doubt the reboot will surpass it. Feels impossible. The Myotismon saga was just too good. What I like about the reboot is that Gatomon finaly got a solid back and forth fight where she had to strugle while being in her champion form. I just hope that she will get more chances to fight without digivolving. In Adventure 01, she had badass introduction, and then suddenly writtes forgot she was a champion level, even before Adventure 02, so I can only hope that it won't be the case here. I have seen enough of well developed gatomon, I want to see her badass side for a change.

It becomes very clear in the episode that Tailmon is still a champion when she single-handedly kicks the ass of multiple champion digimon without breaking a sweat, and later goes toe-to-toe with an ultimate and isn't completely stomped.

Joe is either going to lead an army of Nanimon or they're going to train him into a confident person who kinda just shows up with the strength to boost Zudomon into Vikemon

I always find it interesting that Gatomon/tailmon is the only digimon in the group that stays in champion form. She's got the best endurance out of the main digi group to be able to stay in that level for so long. But because of that I feel like in the original series that made her the weakest champion of the group in power since she would get knocked back just as easily as the other rookies.

I was always confused with Gatomon/Tailmon because when I saw her digivolve to Angewoman so gatomon is a champion. Then my next question is how can she stay in champion but then I remember she has the Gold Ring on the tail maybe that's why.

Starting to wonder why they made this reboot if they just keep sidelining half the cast. Joe, Izzy, Matt and Mimi have been more or less out of action for weeks now. Every time they all meet up they last an episode or two and then something happens to split them all up again. If they wanted to tell a story with a smaller cast why not a whole new show? It really feels to me like they came up with the story and then were forced to make it with the original characters as a reboot for nostalgia's sake.
