According to a recent report by the Financial Times, Chinese President Xi Jinping claimed in a meeting with the European Commission President Ursula von der Leyen that the U.S. is attempting to provoke a Taiwan invasion. U.S. officials have refuted this statement, saying that U.S. policy on China remains unchanged. In this episode of “Taiwan Talks,” we discuss China’s red lines on Taiwan and efforts toward an alternative world order, as well as U.S. reactions to growing Chinese influence. Furthermore, we examine semiconductor policies in both countries and whether U.S. elections may affect the U.S.-China chip war.
