I couldn’t agree more! I am the grandmother of a mixed race child. I wasn’t concerned about this and I didn’t take offense when a co-worker asked me if I thought the baby would look Asian. I just answered that he probably would because of dominant genes. I knew that this woman wasn’t a racist. BTW…my grandson looks very Asian and is absolutely adorable and smart! Four of my grandchildren are mixed race. They all have dark hair and eyes but their skin color varies. Each one is beautiful and very loved. I said before each one was born this is going to be the one with blue eyes like grandma. My own children didn’t have blue eyes. My general feeling is that Meghan's statement was designed to cause maximum damage and huge fallout. There may well have been a general conversation as happens in every family about who the baby will look most like. I cannot accept that the same family who welcomed her so warmly and genuinely suddenly decided that their child might be unacceptable because of their skin colour.

The other issue here is that the couple in other places said that the conversation regarding what color the child might be was with Harry only and prior to the wedding. Thus, Meghan only knew what Harry told her! The "what will the baby look like" conversation is very normal in the US as well as in the UK.....the only issue here is that one should remember that the child's features will resemble that of the biological mother and father prior to any cosmetic surgery.

I thought it was absolutely terrible that if you truly loved your family - why would you not discuss this privately so you have a chance to fix the problem? To me this would be like posting it on Facebook to shame everyone...very often you can talk these things out privately, fix the relationships and educate people. I thought it as horrifying to make it a public conversation even if this is what happened...and of course, we since find out that Megan wrote privately to Prince Charles and acknowledged that she overreacted, and that the statements were not in fact made in a racist way, and then Harry also publicly backpedaled. It was extremely unnecessary and seemed vindictive by Megan.

Considering at the beginning of the relationship they had to release a statement condemning the racism that Megan was apparently receiving, I believe the conversation was genuine concern about whether the baby would also be subjected to racism & how they should handle this. Discussions about the darkness of the baby’s skin is relevant. Unfortunately, the darker the skin, the more racism the baby may have been subjected to. If they weren’t having this conversation, in my opinion that would be a problem. I can understand however that coming from the US/canada, that would be a very confronting and unusual conversation and coupled with the difficulties she experienced during her pregnancy, perhaps is why her memory of the matter could be skewed. It’s hard to understand what is actually going on. A child is only given the title of prince/princess if they are a grandchild of a monarch or in direct line to the throne. Ie. william’s grand children will all be prince/princessses but Harry’s cannot. Once the queen passed, Harry’s children gained their titles. The security assignment is tied to their title/status, therefore the children now have rights to security, just like Harry. The Monarchy doesn’t set security assignment, the government/police do, so this was out of the queens control. It’s ridiculous to imply, however, that Harry’s children would be left out to the wolves. As long as they are in they vicinity of Harry & Megan, they are protected and this is reasonable to do until the queen passed & they had their own security rights. Either Megan wasn’t provided this information on how the law works on this, in which case it’s understandable how it seems unfair and as if they are being mistreated, or, Megan was informed and is choosing to give the impression the Royal family were cutting them off. Both scenarios seems unlikely. The former implies Harry has thrown her under the bus and hasn’t educated her on how the Monarchy works, ever, and is allowing her to speak on the matter without ever correcting her and explaining that the children WILL become titled prince & princess. The latter implies that Megan genuinely thinks no one understands how the lines of succession work & would feel an injustice has been served to them. Megan also may simply be appealing only to the American audience, knowing that the majority of them do not care about British Royal law etc. I just can’t wrap my head around Harry sitting back on all this about the titles and security. It makes him look cruel to Megan at worst, or intentionally manipulative towards the public at best. The British people know the law and how it all works though, so he’s allowed this to occur knowing the public will immediately not believe Megan.

He wanted out of the RF for a long time but didn't know how because he doesn't have a real job or education other than military. Along came the manipulating Markle with big plans to update the RF and make herself the most popular. Harry sat back and let her do what she wanted.

I’m Black (African) and my husband is White (Western European). For a whole host of reasons I don’t have enough energy to invest in explaining Meghan Markle about, I can all but guarantee that the only conversation about how dark Archie’s skin was going to be was had by Meghan, herself. She’s the most confused biracial woman I’ve ever known (and I know a lot) and she is so ashamed of her Blackness: she never had Black friends, she goes well out of her way to focus on her White features, she has only dated White men and she identified as White all her life. She seems to really be ashamed of dark Black people. The whole, “I never experienced racism before I moved to the UK” claims are hardly believable, and they only came out after she was actually held to account for her unsavoury behaviour to evade accountability. This isn’t the first time, by the way, that Oprah has exploited unintelligent people for views and then backtracked.

The are gorgeous, I must say, my son looks more Chinese than my daughter but you can see the characteristics in both. It was interesting to discover that my family noticed their Asian traits more while my husband’s family noticed their Anglo characteristics more. That makes sense too because people notice things that are different, not common to them. Megan as you say was taking normal conversations and vilifying them for pity.

She's so full of it! My father was born in Sicily. He and his siblings all had darker complexions----enough so that the teachers in town classified them, along with immigrants from Greece, Armenia, Turkey, Italy, and other Mediterranean countries as "Negoes" for the school's records. My mother's people were from Austria and Poland, and she was blond with piercing blue eyes. When my parents got engaged, the family on my mother's side began talking: What skin color would the children have? Who would they look like? The short, runty, dark skinned Sicilians or the fair, blue-eyed Austrian Poles? My father's side of the family hated my mother----simply because she wasn't Italian or Sicilian. My father made it clear to his mother (she was the biggest critic of my mother) that he refused to marry an Italian or Sicilian because they weren't "good housekeepers" and had dirty houses. You can imagine what a slap in the face that was to my grandmother and my father's three sisters (BTW---they were all dirty housekeepers). My two older brothers had dark hair and brown eyes like our father; they had complexions that were a bit lighter than our dad's. I came along---brown hair and brown eyes; very light complected skin with lots of freckles. My younger brother appeared with dirty blond hair, blue eyes, and darker skin tones. No one can predict what the children will look like----or which side of the family they will take after. The question about skin tones is still going on even today----with the fourth and fifth generations still having that age-old debate over "Is the child going to be dark like the Sicilian side of the family?" MM was looking to make trouble----and she did. Because she didn't get her way to merch the royal family, she had to seek revenge. And from a woman whose driver's license ticked the "Caucasian" box, her cries about racism spoke volumes about what a hypocrite she truly was and is. She discovered her biracial roots only when Oprah was around to broadcast the accusations of racism to the world. My God! This woman is a loathsome as they come.

Meghan did so much damage with that statement. You can just see her overly dramatic performance on Oprah and how deliberate she was with her words. She was and still is coming across as such a petty socially inept trouble maker. Makes me wonder if Harry was in on this or if he was pissed when he came out and Oprah brought up the topic again.

My son is half Japanese. Of course people in my family were curious when I was pregnant and wondered about eye shape, hair colour etc. It's absolutely normal and quite exciting and not racist at all! We also wondered about skin tone and that was 33 years ago! The world has moved on! So has the Royal family! These questions are part of the general excitement of welcoming a child into a family. Unless you are a right wing bigot. No sign of that in the Royal family.

In 1990 I taught a group of black children in preschool. Part of this experience involved having the parents present. The darkness of their childrens’ skin tone came up as a to-pic of conversation. They all spoke of how much they wanted dark skin for their kids, and they compared the levels of darkness in their children among themselves. The darkest one was admired. I asked why it was so important, and was told that lighter skin was seen as being “too close to being white.” Nuff said.

I was amazed by the race issue having any place in her being in the royal family. Simply put, her features and skin colour are so similar to someone 100% white I hadn’t even noticed she was any different. So yes, I think she must be playing the victim because if she hadn’t mentioned it, I doubt anyone else would have either. My guess is that she made herself odious within the royal family by refusing to become one of them and constantly going on about her race as though she were very obviously different.

🇺🇸🙋🏻‍♀️🇺🇸Hello. The question is had by EVERY family regardless of race, but more so in a mixed race couple. How statements are made and the tone of that statement in context of a discussion will effect how that question is perceived. Given OW's reaction and the fact that MM didn't correct herself, then the statement sounds like an allegation of racism towards the royal family. In my opinion, H's comment to TB sounded like a practiced response taught to him by his wife to negate what she had clearly intimated two years earlier. Neither of them did anything to change that thought or perspective for TWO years. Again, recollections may vary on how or what was said because it was not originally said to MM, but to H and who knows how he originally understood the question and how he communicated that discussion to MM. Either way, they should have corrected the statement so that others didn't misunderstand what they were saying. 🇺🇸🙋🏻‍♀️🇺🇸
