Fyi, Hi3, and HSR are directly connected to one another. Even Genshin Impact makes a canon appearance in Hi3 as well. They are all connected in the lore because of the Imaginary Tree, which is basically the Hoyoverse Universe that connects all Hoyo games together. W video!

The 12-person co-op apparently bricked too many phones. They reduced it to 3, but recently it wasn't a popular feature, so they removed the co-op entirely and replaced it with a single-player mode with different game stages.

_HI3_ lets you field three battlesuits in a team, plus ELF or AstralOp. The combat is flashy and fast, and emphasizes combos. Most teams are mono-elemental, with a couple very notable exceptions I won't spoil. Mihoyo took a lot of inspiration for the gameplay from _Bayonetta_ and _Devil May Cry_ , and story inspiration from _Neon Genesis Evangelion_ . Mihoyo also likes to test things in their games before expanding them more fully elsewhere, so the Open World modes in _HI3_ aren't true open world, and can be seen as beta for _Genshin_ 's true open world. Likewise, they tested roguelike gameplay in the Elysian Realm mode before Simulated Universe in _HSR_ , and more largely in _Zenless Zone Zero_ . There's also going to be a farming game they're making that they tested with the _HI3_ event 'Captain's Ranch Tale,' which was very well received. That 'Luna Kindred' battlesuit marked the beginning of the Captainverse / Cap's Bizarre Adventures storyline, by the way. It only recently wrapped up. Prior to _HI3_ , Mihoyo made _FlyMe2TheMoon_ , a side-on flying puzzle game; _ZombieGal Kawaii_ , which flopped; _GunsGirlsZ_ , which was the revamped version and their first gacha game, a sidescrolling action game. And still running on their Chinese and Japanese servers. They also have _Tears of Themis_ , a visual-novel styled police procedural with lots of hot guys. Probably their most overlooked game, and I've never played it myself, but that's where the inverted card house on Herta Station comes from. The sword shards? They're Himeko's.
