They probably will do at some point. The reason it costs that much is because it’s Murphy Labs, but they usually follow those up with regular Gibson USA models that keep the same spec but without the “relic-ing”. And then somewhere down the road an Epiphone. It’s what they did with Kirk’s Greeny Les Paul.

@@scwebb Yeah I get that. It’s just a huge shame that Gibson won’t give us an affordable import 70s Flying V through Epiphone or even one from gibson that isn’t gloss white and hard to come by and keep suing everyone who tries to fill this gap in the market.

700$-1k$ max..above that then the price to quality ratio is not justifiable.

@@Dragnerve. That's not true, I'd say around $3k is where the quality "ceiling" is. $700 isn't even close to a truly high quality guitar. The best American or Japanese made guitars with the best level of attention to detail and highest quality hardware will all be around 2-3k. Anything above that is diminishing returns but come on... $700 that's nothing.

@@alexjackson8841 you could make a 700$ guitar play like a 1k or higher though.. if you know how to properly set up the instrument. I am talking about hardware and actual components that affect playing, not just cosmetics and wood type.

@@Dragnerve. Yes I agree a setup goes a long way but only to a point - even a luthier can't *completely* iron out core issues that come with buying a cheaper guitar. You may be able to make a $700 guitar play great but it will need more maintenance than a more expensive guitar if you want it to stay that way. More expensive guitars mostly have more comfortable neck profiles, MUCH better fretwork, stainless steel frets, neck materials and truss rod that are less likely to warp in environment changes, and the main thing is excellent craftsmanship down the nearest 0.1 millimeter that mean you can get lower action and more perfect intonation. Even $1000 non American/japanese made guitars often have tiny QC issues that most people wouldn't notice, but a highly skilled player with a very specific and refined technique may notice minute differences in playability and those are the people that would spend $2-3k. Not to mention that you're only talking about playability, when it's the whole package people pay for... tone, tuning stability and cosmetics are equally important if you're someone that's going to be playing or maybe performing with it every single day the next 20 years. But the reason I say $3k is because that's roughly the price that you'll find guitars made by the best, highest quality luthiers by people like Suhr or Vigier. Anymore more and THEN it's solely the rarity, vintage factor or celebrity prestige that you're paying extra for.
