I wander around some streets in a roasting hot Beijing City and reflect on what I witnessed during the Presidential debate. Biden and Trump forced me to explore further questions around the death of the American dream for me!

I’ve lived in California for 50+ years! What a change! Unfortunately it’s not for the better! Very sad indeed. My 1st 30 years living in the US was probably the brightest years. It peaked at around the Year of 2000! Then the country started to divide, terrorism started to eat into the country, 911, wars in Middle East were brewing, recession, the 2008 financial crisis really opened the can of worms , weird cultures like trangenderism and sexual identities started to cultivate, politics between 2 parties getting from dirty to dirtier to dirtiest, racism intensified… now gun violence, drugs, looting, homelessness are taking over! Now WW3 is knocking on the door! The last 8 years probably have been the worst years I’ve ever experienced in this country! The stupidity of Trump and Biden might be the last two big nails America needs to seal the coffin! Not to mention that Washington is infested with crooked corrupt politicians. America better do something about their political system. It’s not working. If they keep walking down this path, civil war might be next! 😅😅

@@ForAllLifesAdventures It can be, but it takes for majority of the people to want change like what China did in the revolution. The system was broken but the people educate themselves and implement different type of governments, failed but they learned something and keep implementing and modifying until they get it right, hence the socialism with Chinese characteristic today. But personally, looking at Western society and morality today, I feel that they are at the point of no return. The oligarch has done a great job to dumb the people down, and create divisions among the people so they are untouchable. It takes the people to change a nation, but the people in the West today are so hopeless. You can blame the leaders, but these leaders come from the people.

About 40 to 50 years ago, the American Dream may have existed, but today I don't think it is achievable for most people. The cost living is very high, and real estate is out of reach for most people. How can people buy affordable homes when a single family home is now an investment asset. As a result, you have a shortage of homes if some people own 100 to 1,000 homes. There are a limited number of homes, it's just supply and demand. It is just every person for themselves in the US like you said.
@ForAllLifesAdventures
@ForAllLifesAdventures 7 күн бұрын
I read that there was a surplus of homes in some places… but they are not affordable and they are quickly bout by investors to be empty, rented or as a rising asset because the market is so constrained.

I think the Chinese authorities are struggling to keep the quietness. It's a hard battle, both against hostile adversaries and against human nature. Freedom of speech is not just an article in the constitution (Chinese), but also a need or urge for many individuals. Believe or not, that freedom was enjoyed at heights of some past dynasties in China. What you are seeing now is a temporary state. I do understand why China is like this and the other alternative is too awful to imagine. But I find Chinese actually having quite some freedom to express their ideas and thoughts on many things. And they'll probably have more after American nightmare ends.
@ForAllLifesAdventures
@ForAllLifesAdventures 7 күн бұрын
Thank you, I agree, there is freedom to express and complain and things get sorted as best and as quick as they can. The west is full of anger at each other and out of control social media… it isn’t pretty.
@user-gc9yh2ic4q
@user-gc9yh2ic4q 7 күн бұрын
@@ForAllLifesAdventures To be honest, I left China over a decade ago, partly due to the "lack of freedom of speech". When I look back, that's still somewhat justified. But I also realised truth is somewhere in the middle. What truly impresses me today about speech freedom in China actually is not the complaints are allowed, but rather more and more ideas thoughts and reflections are popping up on social media. They are constructive instead of confrontational. They help people to dig deeper and reach higher. We are just at the beginning of it but future looks very promising. I guess that's what freedom of speech is really for. I don't think freedom is a west only thing and Marxism is a China only idea. When people can hear from and know each other, it doesn't only avoid misunderstandings, but also pushes the humanity forward.

getting rich through gambling and through hard work are two very different approaches. Yes, one can always get rich through taking extreme risks and betting everything on the throw of a dice, i.e. through betting, or one can reach prosperity through honest days of work. The later is the road to peace and prosperity. The former is the road to ruins and destitution.
