It is so sad because as a US resident, every time I walk in China or Singapore after dark, I am looking around like an animal expecting to be attacked or have bad things happen to me. Imagine the psychological burden we carry as a US "person", must be harmful at some scale to our well being...:(

In a young and technologically focussed vibrant country, why do we have aging geriatrics who are past their "use by date" running the nation? It has been said that "a man has got to know his limits" and unfortunately, for a stubborn old coot like Joe Biden, he simply doesn't know that he has reached his limits, believing that he can still hit a 250 yard drive in golf.

Great book! Only bettered, in my opinion, by his Animal Farm. That really opened my eyes. But, yes, the West in general, and the US in particular, is really turning more and more Orwellian by the day. Ignorance is Strength, Freedom is Slavery, War is Peace.

Well, its corporate America. So, those wilt money are really running the show in the shadows. Our current president has hints of cognitive dementia and so does Trump. Trump fabricates reality and the other is lost in a fugue. The only ones that are seeing clearly are the Zionist that are running the show. Stop sending my tax money overseas to fight in wars that are immoral and wrong.

Young people need outlets to release their excessive energy and creativity. It's best to make sure they don't go overboard and find a safe place to let it out. Graffiti is a huge problem in the West, so are substance abuse and violent behaviours. China must keep a tight rein and not let them go haywire. Ideally the youngsters could use the opportunity to figure out where their future careers are going and learn how to make a living. 798 Art District needs similar parallel districts for youngsters interested in STEM and sports, and not artsy stuff.
@ForAllLifesAdventuresКүн бұрын
I think that’s a great point… a place for exploring other topics rather than Art, I like that 👍🏼

I came to "the free world" partly because I was sick of the things you mentioned. But the past few years completely reformed my perception about the west. I mean, if a state, actually a few key individuals, can launch wars that kill millions and potentially end this world, completely ignoring the voice of people, is that world really free? I have come to realise it's just monarchy 2.0. As someone said, they have figured out a perfect way to make you take the blames of their decisions. Because you voted. Yet there is no accountability for them at all. At least not like in the french revolution king and queen had to surrender their heads for stupid decisions they made. To be fair, many of the similar things also happened in the lows of Chinese history. There's a phrase 指鹿为马(pointing to a deer saying it's a horse)you can google the story behind that 2000 years ago. It seems as humans we have a lot in common.

I love your point about it being Monarchy 2.0 - excellent way to put it. History does have a way of repeating itself and even across continents 👍🏼

The US Presidential election is vitally important to *_everybody_* in the world. Why? Because the USA is an imperialist power that imposes its will on all nations, including its "allies" (or, more accurately, its vassals). It does so through military actions, through economic sanctions, and through political interference using the CIA. Because the President of the United States makes foreign policy decisions that impact all of us. We are the ones who must face the specter of nuclear war or World War 3. We are the ones who must absorb the impact of US-exported inflation. The US Presidential election is consequential to the entire planet.

According to Peter Hessler, when he was teaching nonfiction writing in 2019 at Chengdu's Sichuan University, the university put 1984 and The Animal Farm on the reading list. They were not banned in China. Ironically these two books had been banned at various time and places in the US, at least temporarily.

The Chinese read the book and think it applies to especially the cultural revolution period. But it also applies to the fake democracy of the us pretty well. They have got doublespeak, newspeak, the telecast is the misinformation on the internet which also watches you back, the inner party is the deep state, constant wars, the hate rallies and the need to have enemies…

I think we're seeing in real time America moving towards totalitarianism. Both sides of the political spectrum are heading that way. I also think if Labour in the UK doesn't make some major changes in the next 5 years we could end up with Reform coming close or actually governing the country in next election.
