This bike is my dream bike. And I love that it’s made just down the road from me in Toronto which is a lot of the allure to me!! 🇨🇦

I can see a lot of future road bikes looking like this. Seemed to be a theme at Sea Otter. Sporty bikes with integrated front ends,normal seatposts with standard seatclamps and clearance for wide tyres. I like it!

The high end market has been pretty stable for quite a while, not big but stable, it’s the mid-low end market that have significant demand swings that get brands in trouble with inventory.
@JohnSmith-ck5qk
@JohnSmith-ck5qk 17 күн бұрын
probably not, mostly because these small high end companies are pretty much made to order, and usually have slight waiting times, so bankruptcy probably won't happen cause they never actually have lots of bikes that no one wants. The reason why companies get into trouble is usually because they made a bunch of bikes that nobody wants

Almost identical to the geo 55cm to the Ritchey Swiss Cross size Large which I love to ride with 700x38c. Something about that race geo with wide tyres that just makes it so much fun on all road surfaces.

Check out Lauf Seigla Rigid instead. 57mm tire clearance, threaded BB, no integrated BS, performance fit (but not extreme), very good money for value on the build specs offered... Being able to put everything from a typical 32mil road slick to a 57mm fast-rolling xc mtb tire is absolutely gold. 40mm is great for champagne gravel, but is woefully insufficient to run low enough pressures to enjoy let alone endure actual rough roads.

True. A race-ish bike with plump tires is a wonderful ride. Like that off-road rally car version Lamborghini just built. 95% sport car with a nice touch of extra capability actually adds to the joy of the ride, doesn't take away.

I’m in the same boat. I love the idea of a quick handling bike that can be taken on light gravel and dirt roads. But that stack height is too low for my achy back.

Agree - I have tried some of the slacker bikes and they are so much better off road, descending etc. Awesome brand - but I bet gen 2 will be a bit slacker
@paulgrimshaw8334
@paulgrimshaw8334 17 күн бұрын
Quick handling on the road can be a handful on dirt and gravel. Tires play a massive roll too. Unless you’re swapping out rubber for those trail forays, riders will be hobbled pretty much independent of geometry. I notice a massive difference between a city tire (all weather, reasonable rolling resistance, and good puncture protection) and a light gravel tire (wider, softer sidewalls, different tread pattern). And that’s on the same bike and rim. The differences are in cornering and holding power. Both are slower when operated outside their design parameters. The city tire gets way hairier on loose corners though, whereas a gravel tire retains its composure on city roads.

Most amateur riders don't need this type of geometry.......I don't get the problem people have with Endurance bikes........
@3TZZZ
@3TZZZ 17 күн бұрын
Agreed. It’s road geometry with clearance for 40mm tyres. Not even Endurance road, let alone all-road geo. The stack is far too low for majority of cyclists.

Similar levels of comfort but the Bridge is racier with the lower stack which you really notice (positively for me) but I do like the fender mounts and down tube storage on the Fray

david, these folks are 100km from me and i've been eyeballing this bike (well, i'd buy a frameset) for over a year now. it definitely does seem to tick all of my boxes as well; currently riding a 3T Exploro RaceMax that also handles any kind of riding (with a more diverse tire fitment range), but i am really drawn to the Surveyor. thanks for the review!

Unless someone is actually racing it, if you are a short rider I'd avoid. Short wheelbase and wide 700c tires is recepie of toe overlap. Understand that going 650b would make you slower and all that.. but for the avarage Joe just go 650b mate, if you don't wanna go straight in those funny fails videos..

I'd go crux over this tbh. Also a dynamic ride, maybe not as race geo, but much better do it all in terms of cockpit customization options and wider tire fitment if/when needed for burlier gravel/singletrack.

Same. And with the discounts Specialized/ bike shops are offering on all Crux models, it makes it had to choose anything else if you're in the market for an endurance/ gravel bike. I personally just got the Crux Expert at my LBS for for $4100. That's a lightweight frame with the type of geo I'm looking for, electronic shifting and Roval carbon wheels. No UDH though and a couple mounts for top tube storage would have been somewhat nice.

I like where this and other brands are going, bluring the all-road/endurance/gravel lines, and this is a nice looking bike, but at $15K for their Red build, I'd much rather own/ride the Fray. Neither of these are what I'd call a "deal" or highest value. I'd put the Lauf Seigla at the top of the list for value in a gravel category, Ventum GS1, Canyon Grail and the new Aspero are close seconds in value provided, IMHO.

The majority of people don’t need race bikes, nor will they be able to discern the practical difference between race and fitness geometry. Most of those who do will shrug and roll their eyes while exhaling a “whatever”. Fit and fit for purpose are reasonably important. Emphasis on “reasonably”. Nothing for the recreational or enthusiast bike rider to get too worked up about. Still doesn’t prevent people from banging on at coffee shops, which are the velodromes of the masses… where the contest to impress happens without turning a wheel.

Another beautiful but exclusive carbon bike at an unattainable price for the majority. Another review of a top spec bike for the wealthy road rider dabbling in gravel. Pure road bike geo with clearance for 40mm tyres, is the new norm for road bikes pretending to be gravel bikes. But it’s not really an all-road bike. And the low stack and short chainstays mean it wouldn’t even qualify as an Endurance road bike. …And again (the other Canadian brand) Cervelo Aspero is the better all-road / gravel geo, and at half the price.
