David, I very much enjoyed this video; I think if you are interested in speaking more to the medical aspects of cycling fitness, and things to watch out for, beyond the current medical practice, and more on the preventative aspects of health with regards to blood pressure, arrhythmia, and coronary disease please get in touch - awesome mix of bike reviews with aspects of human performance.

You seem to do pretty well in this ride, going up the hill where you were the only one riding while others were walking their bikes up the hill. Well done. 35% grade? My goodness, I'll see if my car could go up that slope.

It was a great ride. I was running sweet after 93 mile and 8000ft in. Got to hardknott and it wiped me, managed to stay on the bike through to the top. Wrynose and Blea tarn after hardknott is just a complete kick in the testicles 🤣. It’s a mentally tough ride, managed to get over the line in 7hr 25min.

Im planning to do my first 100 next month at the Newark Sportif. I'm up to 75 so far and planning an 85 in a week's time...hopefully that will be enough to test my pacing and energy intake strategy. I know what pace I can ride all day on and I know what gels, rice bars etc I need to take on each hour. Ive also tested which kit I need to wear depending on the weather. Going to be tough as you say!

Good effort David. I feel annoyed as I had plenty of power at the end but suffered bad cramp half way through which kept coming back every time I put some real power down - I never did anything more than 70 miles training for this and everything was done in the cold weather so I didn’t realise how much I would need salt. Desperate to do it again next year with the right amount of electrolytes. Has really fired me up for training this year though I was really surprised how much I still had in my legs at the end.

Awesome route. I added a larger cassette for the hills this weekend. I forgot that a slightly longer chain was also needed. Thankfully express delivery came through in time.

Real food every time for me. Porridge for breakfast, cheese and pickle sandwich just before the start then dates, flapjack pieces and a banana during the ride. As for drinks, water/ electrolyte during ride and rehydration drink post ride.

Completed my first 100 last week. But at a very chilled pace with a couple of guys on 90s mtbs. Took the canal paths and made a day of it. Muscles were fine. But my ass… tattered! 🤣

Just bought a Ridley Fenix with the Rival group. The test ride I had , before I made a final choice, was with the 105 Di2 and Rival. Same bike, same wheels. I was amazed how much faster the Rival changed from gears. Personally I also like the looks more from the Rival. It also seemed like the braking distance was a little bit shorter than the 105 group. The practical thing is absolutely the battery. The 105 needs to be recharged somewhere near an outlet. The Rival however has batteries than can be charged with a charging kit. Last but not least. If the battery of the rear-derailleur is empty, you may expect the front one is still working since that one will be used less. And the good news is: they are exchangeable! In that case you won't have a stuck gear and still able to shift. Thanks for the review!

Fred was brutal....for 90 miles I felt great, paced myself to HR and power....10000ft of climbing still felt alright....and then Hardknott arrived - the doors completely fell off. The first and last time i ride that horror show....

I did 100 miles one day last summer, back and forth to some friends cottage. I spent four hours at their cottage, and that rest and eating was important. It also helped that there were no hills. But the ride was exhausting. I went at my maximum pace for long distance (24,5 km/h average on a light 10 year old carbon racebike). When I arrived I showered and sat down in a sofa. Problem started. I had to go to the toilette, but cramps struck my legs and there were no way I could stand up ¨. Eventually I made it after 30 minutes. I was rolling out of the sofa and somehow managed to get to the bathroom. My error was going further than I was trained for, and going faster. Next time i go far I will slow down and avoid pulse above 80% of maximum, and I will stop at several cafés for good rest and food. I will also reduce the distance. 100 km is nicer than 100 miles to me. And I will sell my racebike, the gravelbike with light gearing is my ashaltbike now.

Cheaper tubing is never better tubing. David asked straight up; "Is the ride quality compromised?" THE Moots' rep said "Oh, it changes the ride quality in some ways better and in some ways worse." So are we supposed to believe that the more expensive Moots may be a waste of money? Cmon now. I have own four Moots and currently own two. I am embarrassed by the lack of honesty.

Terrible product. Basically reacts with ferrous material to go red. Essentially it's iron/fallout remover. With bike tax added. Automotive fall out remover will be a 1/4 of the price and do the same thing. BILT HAMBER KORROSOL will be much better and much cheaper Talk about reinventing the wheel

Great tips. I am doing my first 70 miler this weekend since spinal surgery a few years ago AND then breaking my hand a year ago this week on the bike practicing for the same event that was 7 days later. Looking forward to it!! . Weird as I have three groups of mates doing it so I hope to flit between whichever one matches my speed! My biggest problem is lack of food whilst riding. Although I take gels I somehow forget to eat them!!

400.00 for a bicycle saddle is the reason the bike industry is failing the masses. Good for you that can sell seats to the elite or those sucked into believing this will make you better. I’ll keep my saddles that started out at 100.00 and ended up selling for 39.00 two years later.
@davidarthur

Nobody is being forced to buy these saddles, there are lots of affordable and cheaper options available, these aren't taking that away. What they are is the pointy end of the technological development which even if you're not interested in owning now, will trickle down to affordable saddles one day, so as a glimpse into the future they are interesting - well fro most of us not you that much is clear ;)

Apologies if I missed it, but you should review the new Favero Assioma MX-Pro MTB power pedals. They seem to have gotten rid of the "pod," and narrowed the Q-factor. The stack height isn't bad either. Plus, they are way cheaper than the others on the market from Garmin and SRM. Cheers

Sorry, how much am I paying for a fork with no damping? And this whole schtick of pretending to have invented the gravel suspension fork, as well as the first inverted fork that is actually 'successful'? Thats complete marketing bullshit of the highest order.
