Is the DJI action 2 worth the price?

How does the DJI Action 2 stack up against other similar cameras like the GoPro Session 5? Is it worth the price tag? I share my some of my initial thoughts and experiences including taking it on a Sur Ron ride.

Looked like rocksteady was off in your footage. I use the ulanzi metal cage and get even longer run times. Also outside in a breeze it will take longer to overheat depending on where you live lol. Great video enjoyed watching

I’ll definitely have to check out the ulanzi cage. My footage without stabilization might have been my session 5 comparison as it doesn’t support stabilization at 4K which I didn’t realize at the time. Thanks for watching!

Nice vid! That snap lanyard is pretty sweet plus I think we forget things purpose so we can justify our SurRon rides!

For sure! I love that it’s so easy that I can’t make excuses to get Sur ron footage since the chest rig, while a great angle, always seems like too much work just for a quick session.

@@octanemotorwerks I saw a video review where the guy put double sided tape on the back side of the lanyard inside his shirt and it stopped the jitter when walking or riding. I haven't tried it yet with mine, but I plan on it soon

Hello , good video 👍 I have iPhone 13 for vlogs but i searching Action Cam for support (sometimes we want phone whit 100% battery ;-) ) I dont use FPV drone Stuff Etc. What do you think ? DJI Action 2 or GoPro 10 or 11 ? ( i dont think about Osmo Action 3 because of lens Bug whit focus )

I don’t think you could go wrong with any of those choices as they are all great cameras. I personally like the Action 2 for its small form factor and modular magnetic design.

At 1080, don't use horizon balancing at 60 fps, because it's got a jittery footage issue. Also, that Lanyard works best if your t-shirt is taught, not loose. You're best using a handlebar mount or headstrap mount. The Action 2 is a great Hybrid Vlogging camera for those who do occasional Action work, and if you get it at a great price, it's a good investment. But for those who are mostly doing Action, and require long filming times, a go pro is better. Vloggers don't need long recording times, and yes, adding the battery extends the recording times, as well as adding an SD card.

Yes it does. In fact, that is the only way you can charge the camera unit.

why did the chest footage look so shaky? what stabilization settings did you use? I'm still on the fence with buying this

I didn’t have any stabilization on at all so that was my bad. I need to shoot some comparison video to see the different settings and the associated crop factors.

@@octanemotorwerks I was going to say I didn't think so but yeah definitely try riding the bike again with the stabilization on again. I ended up just ordering one I figure for BTS and POV shots it's worth it plus with the lanyard mount I don't think most people will even realize your filming.

Totally agree. Takes all the excuses out of getting a good POV shot.

It's nice that the battery lasts longer even with the 36GB limitation. That's a net plus. But the overheating issue is a bummer especially if it's already 90 degrees outside, dunes, desert rides, hot days... no good.

Agreed. Hopefully the high temp setting doesn’t reduce the overall camera lifespan too drastically. Time will tell.

Hi Bro, I haven't DJI action 2 and is a great cameras. Yes is have heat up issue still useful for my activities use. Small ,light but sharp video quality.

Yes the display will go to sleep while still recording but tapping it wakes it up.

I haven’t had any overheating issues at all. I do have the magnetic case installed.

Now that the Action 3 was released, I’m glad I kept the Action 2 as they serve two completely different use cases. May still get the Action 3 but it will definitely be in addition to the Action 2.
