BMWs should be rear-wheel drive with six cylinders!", or at least that's what BMW purists would say. So in almost every sense, the 218i Gran Coupe is basically the antithesis of a "true BMW" - but can it be just as fun?

Unpopular opinion, and I'm concerned to even comment this (considering the level of hate towards this car in this comment section), but i actually find this a rather nicely designed option

It actually looks good and sexy, and if you see reviews from western countries they actually find this gran coupe as one of the best looking BMW models. But here, Malaysian just don’t like anything new to their eyes especially because they’re used to the typical BMW rear looks.

Test drove this car…was sceptical at first but after the test drive, it is indeed a good effort for an entry level BMW…much better than its competitor, Mercedes..:)

it may be nice to drive but with 200k+ for a fwd id rather just have a civic, id have saved 80k there...i already have the ketam civic which is even slower so if I'm upgrading ill probably look for a 3series or something

@@esk4105 true bro, but for a family man, needs space, comfort and speed occasionally, 320i is wise choice compared to 218 GC...Still prefer 4pots than 3 pots.. and that's a price of RM25k to pay in between😅

I though my 318tiA 4 cyl 2 door hatchback was the smallest BMW. I didn’t know that there’s a 3 cyl 218i sedan. Never seen one here in LA yet.

I never can get over the fact why is it called a coupe where it is otherwise. Other than that, the poor finishing leave much to desire. The attention to details can be much better.

This is luxury car. Of course not cheap than normal cars. Btw, are you really sure that this car is poorly built quality? In the past, used to be bad quality somehow, so I agree with your points but not anymore, latest BMW quality is getting better. Even from the survey said BMW quality is now around top 10.

@@esk4105 well i am speaking as a former bmw owner, having owned a ABckd e60 bmw 523i se, and it is a accident free car, but both front fenders are misaligned , with gaping panels with the bonnet, no help from AB to rectify the problem..my father inlaw has a 2018 ckd bmw x540e , with both misaligned front fenders and misaligned driver side door, again complained to AB , no action....i do believe BMW malaysia should pay more attention to the build quality of its vehicle, especially ckd cars....which sadly , is quite wanting...moreover what all galvanises the luxury motoring experience goes beyond the initial purchase experience, and should encompass the after sales experience, which is sadly lacking....in short though i appreciate bmw launching many new models, but i d believe they have their work cut out, in the malaysian market
