In this video we'll benchmark the GeForce GTX 1080 Ti. We'll be testing the GTX 1080 TI in a bunch of games, ranging from modern, to slightly older, to competitive shooters, to see how well it still performs in 2024.
We'll benchmark at 1080p and 1440p in some games where the performance is still acceptable. The games tested are Palworld, Remnant 2, Cyberpunk 2077, Starfield, Alan Wake 2, Horizon Forbidden West, Counter Strike 2, Apex Legends, Dragon's Dogma 2, and Doom Eternal. We'll also make use of AMD's FSR as well as FSR Frame Generation is games that support it.
The GeForce GTX 1080 Ti still performs exceptionally well in most of these games, with the only issue being Alan Wake 2 and Starfield.

Yeah, as it should! It's still slightly faster than a 3060. Obviously the RTX 3060 has ray tracing and DLSS, but you can utilize FSR on the 1080 Ti if needed. Still a very capable card in 2024.

Yeah, lack of modern features is hurting it, but still, getting 7 years of life out of a GPU is a great deal, agreed 👍

Still have it, but using that only for more high end GPUs to more reflect real-world use.

@@BradenHunt. Thank you. I used to use the 14600KF for all GPUs to avoid CPU bottlenecks, but the 12400F is still a very decent CPU when paired with older, or lower end GPUs, so decided to start using that for videos featuring GPUs that fit that description. If I see a CPU bottleneck I'll move the GPU to another testbench.

This 1080Ti hype is out of control. This gpu WAS a great purchase and still performs well in older titles but this is far from modern standarts and simply worse than 3060. RTX 4090 is the king of the kings despite it's price. And this gpu will be more legendary five years later because raw power and DLSS capabilities are huge.

Yes, it was a great GPU and it does lack modern features. But this was just supposed to be a fun video, looking at the 1080 Ti 7 years later. Nobody should buy one in 2024, except for tinkering and nostalgic reasons, and I'm not encouraging people to. But there are still a lot of people using one so I just wanted to show what you can expect from it today.

The reasons for its legendary status is truly deserved, known and loved not just by its raw performance but HOW future proof the card really was at release especially at such an affordable price - I bought mine in August 2017 for 899€ brand new at release in my country (MSI Gaming X variant), still using this card till this very day (It was a ~100€ increase over the regular 1080 literally a year after its release with a whopping 30-40% raw performance increase + 11GB of VRAM over the measly 8GB which simply struggles in todays modern games). Only way the 4090 could possibly take on that same title, is if the card would straight up cut its price by 50% which we all know is not going to happen in a very long time. Would I recommend picking this card up nowadays? That really depends since it still carries a lot of value, could probably pick up a used 3080 or a 3070-3070 Ti instead for a similar price but be vary of the VRAM capacity.
