Iv been wanting to test out the Harley Davidson Pan America for some time now and I finally got the chance. Unfortunately my audio crapped out on the GoPro so I had to mix things up a bit. This Harley-Davidson Pan America was a special edition with a few extra bells and whistles. including a much needed upgraded suspension.
Just some of my thoughts here about what I liked and what I didn't.
Great bike for Harleys first attempt. Definitely would make a great bike for anyone interested, but I don't think it's for everybody.

The Adaptive(active) Suspension works wonderfully and is not to be confused with the Adaptive Ride Height Function.

It doesn’t need to be set apart, it just needs to be a Harley for Harley lovers, dealer network and most importantly, NOT have a BEAK so look like a street bike yet perform offroad.

I have a Pan Am Special, 2022, Green. I love the bike, but these big ADV bikes are more focussed on road than dirt riding. It will do dirt roads and fire tracks, but it is not really an off road bike, it is just too heavy. I've taken in on a very rough fire trail ride, 80 km, there was one 2 km section of single track that was up a mountain, that was incredibly rough, with berms for drainage crossing he road that were 2 ft high, the Pan Am handled it, first gear and standing up all the way, I didn't come off but it was exhausting with the weight. I'm 60, have been riding since I was 10, did motocross and enduro in my 30's. The Pan Am is fantastic on the road, great for touring, commuting and sports riding, and okay on dirt.

ive had 12 harleys over the years. CVO s , dynas , fat boys road kings you name it pal. The Pan GI 22 i have (i added alot on to it) i have is the best bike for many reason then any harley i have ever had PERIOD!!!!!!!have a swell day pal

Dude, what sets the HD PA RA1250S apart is the Revolution Max power plant. The TFT is a touch screen, and the tech is superior to ALL the other bikes hands down. I love my 2023 Pan America Special; more so everyday, including today actually-- 100miles. Don't get me wrong I still love my antique 2003 Heritage Springer Softail (anniversay edition); but, the PD (2023, also anniversay edition) is a thoroughly modern well engineered machine... let me say Harley-Davidson hit it OUT OF THE PARK with the 2023 PA... nice job Harley! marcus

I am trading top of the food chain CVO Limited Road Glide for the Pan America. Lighter more nimble and capable on gravel. The liquid cooled engine and 150 Hp engine make it very appealing.

Dealer network - I was only going to get a Honda or a Harley because i don't want to have to drive across the state for service and whatnot - you can go coast to coast and there's always a Harley dealership close - got the Pan Am last August and I love it........and its a Harley lol

I've just bought a 2021 Special and I love it. The thing that sets it apart is that its not a GS, I've owned one and they're a bit sterile in my opinion. The Pan Am looks like nothing else in its category, KTMs are ugly. The Tigers look like Africa Twins and the Yamahas and Suzuki's are ugly too. It may not be the best off road but im never going to push it's limits

KTMs are ugly AF, I was gonna get a Pan Am but as a 24 year old who knows the value of money and ik HD likes to upmark the living hell out of there bikes bc the pan am is 17k my norden was 15k 17k at the end of the process but when you actually go and look to buy a Pan Am it gets to a price of over 20k due to them adding packages that come stock on my Norden 901... it was just far to expensive in my opinion for a motorcycle and for what you get especially with all the issues you gotta fix. so I got a Husqavarna Norden 901 2023 instead. and I love it. have had No issues with it either as IK tones of people have had issues with their Pan Am that's yet another reason I didn't get one.

If you can’t figure it out then you missed the fact the bike drops down and with the reach seat, it allows much shorter riders into the ADV segment. Few Harley’s sound like Harley’s till you switch the mufflers out, you do know that right?

It’s great feature if your short. For me being taller, it’s not enough of a feature that sets it apart… but that’s just my opinion. The review is on how it came from factory… so I was commenting on the sound it has now. I used to own Harley’s and I think your correct about that, but if you have riden a pan América you can definitely say it’s not anything near what even stock Harley pipes sound like. Which is good in my opinion Thanks for your feedback! Ride safe

@@AmericanAbroad1 adaptive suspension does a little more than just lower. It actively adjust preload etc if you add weight or change drive mode

Yeah of course. But my point is this isn’t the only bike out there with active suspension.

@@AmericanAbroad1 it was the first to do the ARH forcing Ducati to build it for the Multistrada for 23 as a Minimum Preload function. Additionally, millions of Harley riders have ADV bikes because they are Harley brand loyal so the PaAm gave them reason to sell both the HD and their ADV and get the Pan.

I wasn’t impressed with my test ride. It rode nice but $23k for a bike that had no heated seats, no quick shifter and it was chain drive when for the same money, A Triumph Tiger 1200 explorer has those missing features along with shaft drive and blind spot monitoring. I honestly felt it more along the lines of a $15k ADV. And don’t get me started on Harley throwing several thousands of dollars in markups on top of it being over priced.

Yeah welcome to HD pricing. One chrome cover for the tip of your clutch lever… $2k … They wanna grab you for every little thing. It’s a fun bike don’t get me wrong, but overpriced for the class. If I’m paying that much, I’m gonna buy a well established ADV bike that has some amazing features that the Pan am doesn’t. It’s much rather be on a GS or TT1200. Honestly I would choose a Yamaha Super Tenere 1200 over the Pan Am

@@AmericanAbroad1 They aren’t losing market share due to an aging consumer, they are losing it to extremely high prices that younger buyers can’t justify. Whatever, I don’t have to support it.

@@dhc8guru Right… So your saying their old clients who used to be able to justify cost….areeeeee…. Aging out of the market? Lol Hahahah I agree with you. I think we are saying the same thing two ways. HD are very expensive and the service on top of that is crazy. I wish the motorcycle market in the US was like the EU. I think they take it more serious here. Prices are cheaper for service and they know that for many of us, our bikes are our every day drivers. In the US the culture is more that motorcycles are toys for the weekend. AT least generally speaking.

Rumor is Harley has done quite a few buybacks on 2021 miles. Late’ish 22’-23’ have been fine.

@chueb you're not an idiot. Sounds like a bad dealer that doesn't want to do warranty work, or a part supply issue. Either is unacceptable for a brand as big as harley. I'm sorry that happened to you. You gotta be patient sometimes. But hey, if your riding now, and enjoying yourself, what else matters? Right? Keep the rubber down brother.
