This is one of the best keyboards I've ever used, in this video I go over why it's amazing, and I also compare it to some other popular ergonomic keyboards.
Disclaimer: Kinesis sent me the keyboard for free in exchange for review, but all thoughts and opinions are my own.

Nice overview. I ended up going for the Glove80 as it solves a lot pf the issues with the Kinesis liike BT connectivity. Most people who have tried both say the Glove80 is the most comfortable

Folks do go on a bit about the build quality of the Adv2 keyboard but ask when they saw a broken one or one that had a crack, or malfunction. It was rare indeed. These are sturdy and resilient keyboards, and surprisingly light despite the look. I think its 'build' quality is fantastic. It's material choice tho is something one might lend skepticism to, as well as the design choice to favor cavernous housing. I too think it could use a slimming down, but in its defense, it's been a consistent design choice that did not raise the kind of scrutiny that has emerged since this ergo explosion of recent years. Back in the day, most everyone wanted a full-sized keyboard on their desk. This was right at home size-wise back when it hit the market in '96 and for 20+ years subsequent. Only recently (relative) has it been questioned, and ta-da, here's their answer. And some are still calling this 360 porky. Cant please them all.

500$ It's too much. Only first world privilege. I Hope more companies copy the design or something like that.

Ergonomic keyboards (hell, ergonomic anything) are mostly all first-world privilege, I recommend building a wired dactyl. wire is available everywhere and cheap. 3d printers not so much, but a lot more cheaper than buying one of these keyboards, the other expensive parts would be keycaps and switches but other than that, the rest should be quite feasible

I agree, it's very expensive and unless you're typing for hours each day then I wouldn't buy this. But for those typing for hours and hours and care about there wrist health I feel it's worth it in my opinion at least

The best keyboard in my opnion is a 34 layout. You finger need to travel one row up or down.

@@SkyKosiner Oh, wait, i just remembered it was not because of line jumps. I was writting some glsl code for a cloudscape raymarching shader at the time and had to type out quite a bit of numbers and be constantly tweaking them, wich did feel pretty bad hahaha maybe i should have tried typing them with a moonlander numpad layer or something else. Maybe i'll give it another try!

@@WDGKuurama I haven"t tested the Kinesis, but I have a Glove80, is very comfortable, it has a learning curve as any of these keyboards (still climbing it XD), but is very nice...the only complain that I"ve seen lot of people having is that it is very light (which it is) if you type with a lot of force it can move, the Kinesis doesn't. I have to admit thqt I love it, still figuring some stuff, but have been vety nice and comfy so far.

After watching your video, I guess the answer to your title question is: no. Lots of Bluetooth issues and absolute pain in configuring the keys but nice ergonomics. I went for the glove 80 and low that wasn’t for me it does have a lot of the same features as this keyboard And it’s easier to configure even though it does have some awkwardness about the interface. There is a lot of expensive but still cheaper boutique keyboards out there that are giving this a lot of competition. If you’re going to spend $500 on a keyboard you would expect it just to work . It’s a lot of money to then be faced with a lot of problems once you have it.

The V3 firmware does not have the bluetooth issues. I have not had any problems since V3. Also, if you don't want the complicated ZMK customization then don't get the pro version. The non-pro version comes with smartset software that makes it very easy to customize. For the Pro version with ZMK, the keymap-editor makes it simple to customize ZMK with a GUI so I don't think the pro is that much of a pain either. If creating a GitHub account, using keymap-editor, and downloading files to flash your keyboard is too much of a hassle for you then the pro is not for you. It even says in the manual that the pro isn't for everyone. But for the right person, this keyboard is just exactly perfect. I wouldn't want anything other than ZMK on mine.
@simonfredkellyyt
@simonfredkellyyt Ай бұрын
@@michaelfrieze I was responding to the video, which doesn't mention that. You and others said it's complicated to program. If you are buying a £500 keyboard, it would be nice if it could come in a package that is designed to be up and running quickly with the layout programming because the switch to using a keyboard like this is a big enough change already. I wouldn't expect to buy a smart phone and have to read a technical manual in order to customise it. The similar, MoErgo Glove80 has great reviews, a key-well, comes in a hard carry case, has tenting options and a fairly good ZMK web interface and is £320. It wasn't for me though, so it joined a few others on the sales threads, so these keyboards aren't for everyone and that is worth mentioning. It's a lot of money to take a gamble on. There are quite a lot of keyboards out there now, btw, that are ZMK compatible. The video criticises the ZSA Moonlander for its lack of tenting but I looked on their site and there is a tenting kit available for it. Glad this keyboard is perfect for you though and you have all the problems ironed out. Great stuff.
@michaelfrieze
@michaelfrieze Ай бұрын
@@simonfredkellyyt You can take the pro keyboard out of the box, plug in the usb cable, and start using it right away without reading a manual. If you want to customize then sure, you will need to read the manual but that is true for the glove80 as well. I also own a glove80 and a ZSA voyager btw. If this expensive keyboard didn’t come with ZMK then I wouldn’t have bought it. As I said, this keyboard is for a certain kind of person that wants to be able to customize it with ZMK. The kind of person you are describing should not buy this keyboard since it is not for them. The Advantage360 Pro is for “pro” users that know they want this level of customization. It specifically says in the manual that this keyboard is not for everyone. For non-pro users they make a version that is easier to customize and it’s cheaper. The non-pro smartset version can be customized on the fly, directly on the keyboard without even using software. However, it’s really not that difficult to customize the pro ZMK keyboard. Like the bluetooth connection issues, this criticism is exaggerated. I like the glove80 but it’s not as good as the Advantage360. Also, the glove80 is not any easier to customize than this keyboard if you use the keymap-editor. They both use ZMK and I choose to use the keymap-editor for both since it’s a better UI than what either of these keyboards come with. I don’t care about a traveling case for the 360 since I would never travel with it. It’s very heavy and not meant for travel. It’s meant to stay on your desk and I love the solid build quality of the 360. It feels very comfortable and the cost of this device makes sense once you put your hands into the key wells and press the keys (I use PBT keycaps). Not only does it feel good, but it sounds good as well. If you want to travel then the glove80 is a better choice, but it feels fragile since it’s so light weight. It also has low profile choc switches that aren’t nearly as good as full size switches and small keycaps that feel somewhat cheap. It’s very easy to hit the wrong key on the gove80. In my opinion, the typing experience on the 360 is much better than the glove80. If I want to travel then I would rather use the ZSA Voyager which is much smaller and also comes with a nice case. The ZSA Mainlander does have built-in tenting but you can buy a tenting kit that can get greater angles but it’s not exactly an elegant solution. Same goes for my ZSA voyager. It comes with magnetic feet that can provide some tenting, but if you need more then you will have to get a tripod. The only tenting solution I have found that is better than the 360 is the Dygma Defy.
