After having had the pleasure of testing, let's say "secretly" a pre-series specimen in the spring of 2020, I received from Kowa Optimed Deutschland Gmbh a brand new specimen of the largest and most powerful Kowa spotting scope together with various accessories. This is the Kowa TSN-99 which has a suggested price of 3199 euros, eyepieces excluded.

Ciao Piergiovanni, beato te che ti puoi godere un gioello dell'ottica di tale pregio. :) Deve essere davvero proprio un bel vedere! Personalmente per le osservazioni terrestri però io ritengo che la corsa all'apertura che si è aperta da qualche anno, sia soltanto una moda; la turbolenza atmosferica è una livella. Io infatti ritengo che il miglior compromesso sia rappresentato dai classici cannocchiali da 80 mm di apertura e per questo mi "accontenterei" benissimo di un TSN 883 e chissà che un giorno non riesca a trovare una buona occasione. Interessante la lungimiranza di KOWA nel fornire tra i vari accessori compatibili fra di loro, anche un adattatore che permette di utilizzare oculari astronomici. Ecco, a proposito di oculari e ritornando su quanto ho scritto sopra, di questo KOWA TSN-99 A trovo che lo zoom parta da un'ingrandimento sensibilmente elevato, tanto da precludere in un certo senso il piacere di poter godere di minori ingrandimenti, considerando che con la medesima configurazione, già anche il TSN 883 parte con 25x, quando normalmente, di solito i cannocchiali terrestri zoom, comunemente lavorano nel range 20-60x. A parer mio, ai 20x non si dovrebbe mai rinunciare.

Ciao, grazie. E'stato un peccato non poterlo testare per molto tempo, in realtà. In effetti quasi 100mm nell'uso diurno potrebbero dare qualche problema di turbolenza focale, soprattutto questa estate. Per il resto è un prodotto eccellente.

Thanks for the good video, do you have less focal length with an mft camera with the PA7 adapter than with the DA20 and 20mm lens?

Hi, personally, even looking at animals at dusk and shooting video, I prefer large optics and this 99 is incredibly bright. You're right

Which astronomy eyepiece is perfect for Kowa?? Tele vue or Baader or Pentax??

Many users, including me, are disappointed with this scope performance at higher magnifications is noticeably poorer than Meopta and Swarovski scopes.

@@andreaferrari1957 Ciao Andrea, purtroppo posso solo limitare la mia opinione all'esemplare ricevuto che agli alti ingrandimenti era molto nitido, come mi pare di aver anche evidenziato nei video ottenuti. Lo stesso test con la Usaf Chart non ha rilevato problemi di sorta. Il problema è che una asserzione cosi sintetica lascia a vari dubbi interpretativi, ad esempio: peggiore del Meopta, rispetto a quale tipo di prova? Sai, un conto ad esempio è fare una prova al chiuso con Usaf Chart a 50- 70 metri, un conto fare una prova sotto il sole cocente dove, ovviamente un 100 mm soffre maggiormente la turbolenza focale..Diciamo che non posso dare una risposta , dato che non ho provato l'esemplare di quel signore, di contro ho ricevuto vari commenti via e-mail alla mia recensione, di ex-possessori dell'883 entusiasti del nuovo TSN-99. Gli ho consigliato di inviare il suo esemplare direttamente a Kowa.

Dear General, i am very sorry with your experience. The specimen that i received in vision for the review it was in perfect condiction, i've often compare to my Zeiss Harpia 95, ATX 95 and other scopes. Compared to the ATX 95, for example, the Kowa, during the use with a mirrorless in the digiscoping technique, does not show chromatic aberration that is often visible in Swarovski (at this juncture the ATX 95 is more correct). I would advise you to contact not the shopkeeper, but KOWA directly. Years ago a binomania reader had a "Softness of vision" problem with a Kowa HIglander and it depended on a slight shift of the lens inside the optical tube, promptly fixed by Kowa. I guess you tried to test it on higher heat waves and strong wind flow,that could be also the reason,if you check the performance around evening 5 pn to 6 on you will get perfect clarity
