The best woman shooter in the world runs a Darton. She ran a Hoyt before a Darton, and she was/is the best with Hoyt and now Darton. The best 3D woman shooter in the world runs a Bowtech. The only point being it is mostly about the shooter, not the bow brand, most bows will outshoot the person all day long. Go with what you like!

It’s all about the archer 👍😁 all the other stuff is personal preference ,tuning the equipment to your style and budget. All the manufacturers make great bows and bows are at max efficiency & have been for at least the last decade. I think the most important thing is to get good with what you have and stick with it for at 3-5 years, not changing every 10-12 months, but that’s an unpopular opinion. Enjoy archery 🏹 and have fun with whatever style of archery you enjoy 😉👍😁🎯❤️

Outstanding Podcast. Two things. One is MFJJ’s opinion on equipment is number one thing I look for before buying anything. 30+ years in the industry is good enough for me. Two Levi Morgan is one of the nicest guys you will ever meet. I am fortunate enough to live close by and have interacted with him on numerous times and he is a class act!

You can definitely do it with your resources. I bought my bow Wednesday night at 6pm. My shop put rest Mx-2, HHA Tetra Ryz, and G5 peep in. I went there at 11am the next morning after I went to work and we paper tuned it. We had to move the top hats but within 15 minutes we were shooting bullet holes. I left there and came home and sighted it in at 20. I don’t have a place to shoot 60 (tetra site in procedure) so I went to my buddies shop and we set up a 60 yd shot. Literally by Thursday night- 24 hours later I had my new tape on and was shooting 1” dots at 20/30/40/50. You could do it in 12 hours. BTW thanks for the SCS system I bought from you.

Interesting discussion on who draws more sales to a company. I’m a west coast/mountain hunter, but we forget about Midwest and east coasters and how many people they influence in these discussions. Interesting that Seek One has 2x the number of KZfaq subs as Cam, 2.5x Chris Bee, nearly 4x Dudley, and more than 10x Levi Morgan. And Hunting Public has way more than those guys too. I get YT numbers isn’t everything. And Seek One and Hunting Public are “teams,” but they have way more hunting impact (and likely bow sales-even if they don’t sponsor than they got credit for. And I didn’t give any credit to LIFT until this discussion. Because of who was bought and who was not.

Damn, I bought a Phase 4 thinking it might be the last bow I bought for a really long time, and then I saw the LIFT on release day 3 months after my purchase. Talk about feeling like you just bought a second rate product after the ink on the check barely dried. As for the pod, Tim you always have relevant questions, and MFJJ, I just love that you haven't sold out. You both are so correct, there are very few places left that you can get an unfiltered and honest reviews. The fact that you do it with some personality, is awesome.

Getting the most from a bow in stored energy - the LIFT sets a new archery standard - no carbon riser bow really can compare, ...yet. Problem with carbon is the tolerances from shrink during the baking and cooling process while trying to preserve straightness tolerances so the risers fit the limb pockets as exactly designed. Torque from an off set cable guard has been known to pull the bowstring to the side (lateral deflection) with certain models / or occasionally get crunched in a bow press by accident. Carbon riser bows have future potential (not yet ready at an affordable price) to make archery equipment next level. We never made a carbon riser bow at CSS so I hand drilled out a riser as a prototype that we called the Swiss cheese bow and I made the top half of the riser weigh much less than below the grip for a short hunting bow. Chuck shot the bow while wearing a football helmet ... amazing to see how much bows have changed in just 20 years.

That's a challenge I'd love to help a company in this space solve to free up capital for reinvestment while still taking care of customers (shops). It's absolutely solveable and comes down to willingness to focus on the company's long term upside. I envy whoever takes this on.

I picked up a used trx38 G2 this past spring - I thought this was the most honest back walled bow but expected it because it's a target bow. I then pick up my lift 33 last week and I think the wall and draw keeps me even more honest than the TRX. The lifts riser is longer than the TRX and at release, the Lift feels like more of a surprise shot. Might be offloading the TRX 38 and getting a 2nd lift exclusively for 3D and indoor. As stated, the hype is real.

My son and I currently run the following brands of bows........Bear, Prime, Hoyt, Mathews, Bowtech. So, we are not biased at all. All brands have pros and cons and it is a personal choice for sure. It is a crack up to watch all of the comparisons every year when the new bows are released. Great entertainment for sure. The reality is, most people do have a bias even if they think they don't. Just human nature to argue for something you believe in. That is all good. But, if we are grounded in reality and look at facts....it can get uncomfortable. For example, this year, Hoyt made more positive changes to their bow than Mathews did. Hoyt changes this year include: New riser (Alpha X) New limbs New limb pockets New cam 75-85% let of on the cam Different backwall settings on the cam 1/4" draw adjustment on the cam New strings New bow stand Quiver can now attach closer to the riser than before New colors/camo options Same price as 2022 Mathews made many changes as well, but they did not make more than Hoyt. So just be honest about that. Hoyt came to the table with massive changes to their flagships. Mathews is much more strategic than Hoyt with marketing and they spend more money on marketing. Which is also just fine. Lots of great choices, and also great to see Darton and Athens starting to shake up the industry a bit too..........

The fact that you took time out of your life to type this novel. Shows how offended you are that they aren’t, talking about Hoyt. Mathews is tops in the archery industry. Your reality is just an opinion. And we all have one. Mine is that hoyts are clunky and ugly. Owned a couple, never again. Athens and Darton aren’t shaking up anything. @@MostlyPeacefulCombatVet Right on. The Bowtech grip is far superior to Mathews. The SS34 draw cycle is one of the smoothest ever in modern compound bows. Tunability obviously goes to Bowtech. My only point about Mathew’s saying “a carbon bow can’t be made as well as an aluminum bow” is, “you’re not the CUSTOMER!” We WANT a carbon Mathew’s, so build us one already. Stop being so pretentious up on that mountain top, and give the consumer what they’re asking for already. Customer is ALWAYS right. And who knows? You might just advance the market place, again, and learn a few things along the way you didn’t realize you would. I know they’d rip the stinkin’ cover off the ball, and the other carbon manufacturers would be loosing sleep over their entry into the carbon bow space. Can you even imagine?!

Definitely a way harder cycle. That’s why I’ve never went with Mathew’s. Also it had a lot of jump on my hand. If I was gonna accept all that I would just get the carbon pse it’s way lighter and aggressive.

Completely agree. Seems no one is talking about out it much- but that Lift is jumpy as hell. It wants to pull immediately forward after the 1/4” valley. I shot it. Just did not seem practical for elk hunting situations. Everything else about the bow was superior to everything else I’ve shot. But I couldn’t see buying it.

I do have one question, Josh is talking about how much Mathew’s is ahead on there manufacturing correct? Then why can’t they get the mods built and sent out before the dealers get the bows. I don’t dislike Mathew’s but it’s pretty aggravating for me to try one when 2 dealers with in an hour of me don’t have mods for me to try. Other than that love the podcast

I got lucky and got a Lift 29.5 in Earth. It’s freaking awesome. Draws just a little little little bit stiffer than my Phase 4. Definitely faster than the phase 4. Same mods, same arrows and CBE sights. The lift is 2 sight tapes faster if that makes sense. I am getting a little peep twist with the match strings 😬

Mine twisted about an 1/8 turn after my 200-250 shots. Got it straightened back out and haven’t had any twisting yet after another 400-500 shots

@@jackthomson2773 I’m only around 150ish shots in. I hope that’s the case with mine. It’s probably around an 1/8 right now. Not much but I’ll have to get it straightened. I like to practice at 100, an 1/8 twist can make it tough at that distance. Funny thing is my phase 4 with zebras didn’t twist at all lol

The Mathew’s draw cycle. Was good. Comparing it to Hoyt. Also I didn’t feel like the Mathew’s was not as stable. And iv been a Mathew’s guy for a long time.

Hey. If Tim or Josh see this is there anyway Josh knows if the SX80 limb pockets can be installed on an SS34? I want to upgrade the pockets if possible but bowtech will not let me know if they are compatible. Thanks.

Good podcast. However, I'm not buying all the hype for hunting purposes. Most people should simply spend more time and money afield. I'm glad the lift has been a huge success though: it has made the 8 limb design a moot point. Last year this time all of the influencers were saying the Phase 4 was a huge gamble with the RPD limbs. And now no one focuses on it. Regarding a more aggressive and faster cam that the lift has, nah. And for the weight savings that gets washed out when full loaded. But I get it, a lighter bow in a bow shop will be impressive. I can't wait for the true bow comparisons that the print media does for all aspects of archery. Who knows if the Lift is going to be more forgiving or accurate than the other '24 bows.

I agree, everyone was saying the 8 limb design was a mistake. Now, nobody mentions it , even though the Lift limbs are thinner and bend like CRAZY at full draw. The Lift isn't much faster than the Phase 4 and you are loosing axle to axle lenght at full draw.

The lift is the lightest aluminum bow i have ever shot. You have said multiple times in many videos how light equals more vibration. I agree and when it i shot the lift it had riddicouls vibration. My last bow was an V3X, and i wanted to love the new lift 33. I walked away with an RX8 ultra. Every bow is shooting close to the same speed, 10 FPS shouldn't make a difference when you're shooting 270+ FPS. The RX8 was a way better shooting experience. You talk up mathews on all your videos like it's the best bow but are ALOT better options out there. But that all we hear you talk about...

Been staying away on purpose from mathews because of the hype, and mods, grip and their specific stabilizers, but…I just went to a shop and shot both the 29.5” and the 33” and come to find out, I had to order one!!! 😂 That is a super light and awesome bow to shoot, and im a Bowtech guy.

Same thing happened to me with the phase 4’s whej i shot them…i just didnt order yettt was waiting for the new drops. I wish the tuning capability was close to the bowtechs but man those bows are just flat out shooters and hold so nice. I could only imagine if i shot one right off the riser too. Love that new Bowtech grip tho as well.
