I'm a fan of the 2 glove boxes. I have a 3rd gen Rav4 and love the second (upper) glove box. I think all SUVs should have 2 glove boxes

I feel Ford could’ve done more. With that being said I’d rather get a Z 71 Tahoe with the air suspension 3.0 L diesel and better off-road goodies.

@@nabatron21 yeah it’s something with the front bumper and that the intercooler for the turbo will force the bumper further forward, increasing the angle of attack…. The nose will be too long.

Tahoe Z71 absolutely sucks offroad. Couldnt even get over a tiny rock. Watch their video when they take it offroad. It was absolutely pathetic! So was the expedition. Its 4wd kept overheating amd malfunctioning. Want a capable full size 4x4 you're stuck with either a sequoia or wagoneer.

I sold my 2018 expedition I almost lifted for a truck worth 1/2 of the value so I could take it off road. I towed 7600lb a bit and pulled my quads to the parking lot to unload them and prayed I didn’t need to use the expedition to go get them when they broke or got stuck. Just to much dough for the type of go.

My son saw 2 camouflaged Ranger Raptors testing on the West side of the Phoenix area today. Unfortunately, they were running way over the speed limit, so he wasn't able to get any photos. But they're here and being tested. My guess is, we'll see the Ranger Raptor here not long after the Ranger is released.

I know TFL said it has a rear locker but I can't seem to find any info on that anywhere. All I can find is an "e-lsd" on ford's site. Is that the same as a rear locker? Can anyone confirm if it actually has 1?

It is independent rear suspension so I doubt that it is a true locked setup. Most likely that button is there to tell the system that you want it to behave like the rear is locked. So it will be an eLSD

I guess Ford is going for a new trim option/packaging with the Timberline, since they also offer it on the Explorer. To me, it just seems like a gussied up FX4 package. 🤷‍♀

I'm sorry, but display screens that protrude out from the dash like that just make the entire system look like it was glued on as an afterthought. Size them to fit the dash, orient them so they can actually be integrated, and size them for the vehicle. If the current push continues, some day all of our cars with come with 60" flat panels glued to the front windshield.

@@damilolaakanni and the sequoia went back to a solid rear axle which will have way more articulation and is better for towing as well. Only drawback is storage, but its a big suv so.

I wonder when Ford will bring the Everest to the US so they can have a vehicle that competes with the 4Runner. This vehicle competes more with the Toyota Sequoia TRD Pro than the Raptor. Its not like many people will take this to more than a dirt road anyway.

@@frontier_etc lmao. I know, I couldn't resist. Wife chose the 21 Explorer Timberline over the 4runner. Mainly because her dad and fam are all ford lovers. It's surprisingly quick, and we've had a little fun with it in Minnesota snow...the rear torsen does very well. Still preferred the 4runner, but happy wife happy life

I love the everest. I guess I love the t6 undercarriage but don't want the chinzy cliché bronco body with the lousy removable top.

I agree that the Everest could fill a spot in the lineup. It is definitely more off road capable than the Explorer Timberline. It could easily be built on the Ranger assembly line. Slap a 2.7L V6, electronic locking rear differential, and skid plates standard on every Everest and you'll have a winner. I think Ford Marketing would be/is nervous about the Everest cannibalizing Bronco and Explorer sales. I think the guy who let his wife decide a Timberline Explorer is better than a 4Runner should reconsider that opinion the next time he's washing the dishes and doing laundry.

My concern is that if that big LCD screen gets damaged or simply stops working, how will the owners fix it? They wouldn’t even get any A/C.

Not to mention how distracting it is to have no physical buttons. You go to change the temp and hit something else and go to a different screen.just as distracting as a cell phone. Touch screens are already a pain to use, just changung the radio station is a pain if the vehicle is moving unless you use the steering wheel controls.

I spend a lot of time in my trucks driving across the country for work and a large screen like what's in my 2022 SuperDuty is for me welcome. I can't see why you wouldn't want a large screen that helps with ergonomics.

The Expedition is body on frame, shares with the F150. The Explorer is a unibody however.

I love the screens that come off the dash like that! Makes such better use of the empty space in the rig without having to make the dash super huge. And it lets you rest your fingers on the back side to press buttons with your thumb. Super convenient while the vehicle is moving and your hand is swaying.

Gotta say, definitely NOT a fan of that giant 15.5” screen. Having a portrait-orientation screen that extends above the line of the dash is one of the most ridiculous design decisions in a long time. I’d definitely be sticking with the lower package to avoid that, and get the landscape 12.4” screen along with physical buttons and knobs for climate control. Also waiting for this to come in more colors, namely red. The initial release appears to be weirdly limited in the online configurator.

I've got one of these. Test drove both ace decided to buy a 23' platinum. I was on the fence about the screen but after driving it I've found that it's really great. You should def test drive one with the larger screen. (if you can find one) it also has more tech available to it.

Why is any manufacturer making new models when they cant even keep up with current demand is BEYOND me. Selling vehicles without chips that run the options you pay for. You gotta pay for the options and you essentially get an IOU from the dealership stating, when the chip comes in we will call you and install it and your option that you paid for and have not been able to use the last 8 months will work. This is one of the many reasons used car prices are high, those vehicles have the options that work. There are thousands of new vehicles sitting and they are still making new models.

Looks promising and a great concept. In your busy day, if possible can you update any info you have on the new Silverado 2.7 turbo engine. In the market now and really debating on getting this. Always been a V8 owner but am open to change and new technology. I plan on towing a 27’ travel trail at 4700 pounds dry weight, and 500 pounds hitch weight. I feel this is the sweet spot for this motor. Thanks for the help as This will be my third vehicle I have leased or purchased based on your reviews.

Why is anything build for off-road considered Raptorish. Not even the same category. The Raptor is geared towards fast desert running. If anything, this Expedition is Ford’s 4Runner

Ford is doing what Daimler Chrysler did in the early/mid 2000’s by throwing things at the wall and seeing what sticks. Expedition looks cheap now because of the front end styling cue’s from the Maverick or the Maverick took cues from the Expedition but nonetheless the Expedition is guilty by association.

I was hoping Ford would have shown the '23 Ranger. I've been looking at the outgoing version and it's looking a bit old on the interior. It isn't worth spending the money if a new generation is right around the corner.

Wait for the new one, by the time it gets stateside it would have been available elsewhere for about a year and had most faults sorted. If you want to see more check out the Ford Australia channel, but remember they get the Diesel engines, will have to see if Ford stick with gas only for the US market.

Is the 4wd system going to malfunction like yours? Another auto journalist page tested on and had the exact same problems you did with yours. The expedition 4wd messes up, the tahoe Z71 cant go over a small rock. Seems choices for a good full size is limited to the Sequoia and Jeep Wagoneer.
